But of course. Yet, this slightly ruins the flavor;p

Making game more time consuming by valiantly ignoring something readily available

Changing rules of the game so you can't take a bite of that low-hanging rotten fruit even if you'd like to!

Latter gives a warmer feeling inside surely:p

The game is not made any more time consuming by the utilization of Fast Travel; simply alters the way game time is used. Instead of rapidly seeking quests from one side of the map to the other, one may undertake quests on the way to another destination. Plus Fast Travel is handy for skipping tedium if it appears, such as recovering a horse or follower, or re-walking paths that were recently cleared (eg; Fort Dawnguard, High Hrothgar, etc).

And don't call me Shirley....

Ah, I see. If the vampires only were to target me alone I would be fine
with the encounters, but since they may kill an minor quest giver or
that little NPC I like, I would rather not, especially since I don't
like to constantly reload my saves. I could try the "when vampires
attack" mod, but I heard it's bugged and cause NPCs to stay stuck in
their homes forever.

If you find the vampire attacks annoying, then you could always use this mod:

http://skyrim.nexusm...om/mods/31088/?

It disables vampires attacking towns.

Still fiddling with that ENB stuff. I didn't install realistic lighting but have a feeling that's required. Sigh.

If you're referring to the mod called Realistic Lighting Overhaul, then no, that mod doesn't work with a lot of ENBs because it does what most of them do except it is not so heavy on performance hits. If you want to get visuals like those that you see in people's screenshots, then you need to run everything at its highest settings. You'd also need to disable Skyrim's Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering, since ENB uses its own more efficient(and more demanding) version. You'd have to get those to run at 16 samples, and you'd need to set Ambient Occlusion to true. Those settings can be found in enbseries.ini.

Although I wouldn't recommend running an ENB like that, most people who do get serious performance drops, no matter what GPU you may be using, you'll always lose FPS regardless, and that ENBoost thing helps but it will drain your VRAM if you're not careful, it uses VRAM instead of RAM since there isn't any limits on that. I'm guessing most of those people who make screenshots like those that you see on the various ENB pages, probably don't run a lot of mods, otherwise they'd have a huge strain on their system. The engine is just not resilient enough to handle so much because it was made for consoles. Also you'd need to turn on Depth of Field, but personally I think DoF is annoying and useless. Too much performance loss to make everything pretty, not worth it to me IMO.

I always run at max settings with DoF disabled, but I did disable Skyrim's AA and AF so ENB could do it's thing. I also implemented the Realvision uploader's skyrim and skyrimpref .ini files, to an extent. ENB's SSAO made everything way over-shadowed/dark so I disabled it. Still have overly fuzzy lighting, fuzzy shadowing, and the game world just doesn't jump out of my screen. So far it can't hold a candle to the much simpler FXInjector. Tempted to revert to that and deal with slide-show FPS every dozen doors. Already had my gf delete ENB and download FXInjector.

May watch gophervids again this weekend to double check, but then again fuzziness is a big reason I avoided ENB before this.

Yeah I had that problem with Realvision, i did some things to change shadows and then something bad happened and everything was way too dark. I don't like that ENB though, its too bright, it doesn't work with Nighteye and really doesn't fit Skyrim.

You may wish to also disable FXAA, as Gopher has stated it helps 'soften' textures in his game.

Sigh, so I just finished the Soul Cairn section and turns out Serana is completely missing. Any way to make her show up again without reloading an save from 3 hour ago?

You might try waiting an hour to see if she appears, or use a transition for same effect.

If you're on PC and not oppossed to using console commands.  Go to a previous save with her, get her ID number.

Type:

prid Serana's ID#

Hit enter and then type:

moveto player

She should pop up right next to you.

This is... embarassing to say at least, turns out all you need to do is fast travel to any location. On the other note, the further I go in the Dawnguard questline I realize that it gets all mixed up with the main questline. One of the Elder Scrolls you need to find is the same you use in the main quest to travel in time. This should lead to an amusing scene with Paarthunax.

"In order to defeat Alduin, you need to find an Elder Scroll and it use it to discover his weakness Dovahkiin."

"Oh. You mean this Elder Scroll I already have?"

"Krosis..."

Advisory: Hang on to the Elder Scrolls, as Quest items do not have actual encumbrance. While they can be sold, it may be best to keep them on hand.

Take those scrolls to Dexion when you're done with them.  Funny dialogue choices.

Any recommendations for a Dunmer Vampire playthrough? I'm not sure which route to go with him..a mage or a light armor/sneak character.

Being a mage in Skyrim is not easy at lower levels, but once you you learned new spells you will start one shoting most enemies. While an sneak character will aways deal ridiculous damage with bows and backstabs, even at lower levels. I would go with sneak, but that's just me.

Make a sneak mage, or nightblade works very well if you want to use magic and sneak. I'd recommend going for illusion and conjuration.

I also went with a Dark Elven Vampire; a pre-Dawnguard DB that just happened to be named Vladamir. He was my nod to be the power seeking, spell casting avenger for his people, and the Dawnguard DLC allowed him to do just that after his initial creation.

In my own experience, prefer armored Battlemages over robes and repetitious Alteration castings. And my spell choices were mostly in Restoration, Destruction, and Illusion schools. Plus, a really good bow.

Sneak AND magic. Illusion in particular is a great fit. With spells like Calm you will reach max Sneak in no time.

And I would strongly recommend the Apocalypse Spell Package mod. Has some neat Illusion spells for assasin-types, as well as lots of other spells.

That is why I only play in Master Legendary ... with realistic duel mod , Deadly dragon , Skyre  and so many other modification ...

Playing on adept -  with no immersive mod and powerleveling crafting will make your character stupidly overpowered. I don't understand people who find this fun.. One shotting dragon and never being at  risk. So boring. It's like not skyrim has a very strong narrative that push you to see everything.

To be honest I had this mindset before. Until I realized that you can have more fun when it's difficult. I had this completionist mindset. I HAD to see and do everything. So difficulty had to be tolerable. I had to start a game soon after a new one because my attention span was very small.

Just like a movie. A book is more challenging and require you to be focused. I see more and more people with short attention span. We live in the era of instant gratification.

So now .. yes .. I won't finish maybe my next playthrough because it's super hard.. but I am having has much fun if even more than my previous self. because in the end. Regardless of the speed you're doing it... You're doing it and that what fun should be.

Because the Difficulty Slider does not really increase the difficulty; Master simply halves the damage for the Player while doubling the damage for NPC's. No tactical or strategic differences at all; simply nerfing all the work the Player has done for the DB in Crafting, Weapon, and Armor skills. Almost the same could be done by skipping Lvl Up and not taking any perks. It seems off to me; like arming the DB with a wooden sword and cardboard armor.

Adept is even damage on both sides, then mods can be added to increase true difficulty thru other methods; appears fair to me.

I got Skyrim looking beautiful again with FX Injector, but will keep my eyes open for alternatives should the slide-show framerates reappear. Have had a heck of a time focusing lately due to stuff going on, so I can't give mods the attention they're due while installing/tweaking.

Re: Difficulty, after years of playing on hardest difficulty I'm content to make characters with godlike power these days. I never get tired of my one-shot one-kill stealth assassins. I started this mindset while playing a Bhaalspawn in Baldur's Gate/2 and got tired of being hamstrung by human thinking, so started modding games and made my character a proper powerhouse. Much joy has been had ever since.

@CaptainCrash, those are hilarious images.

Since we're speaking about difficulty, I try to make the game as difficult as possible even for high level characters, one shotting things with the exception of stealth kills is boring. I don't play on anything but Adept, However, I use frostfall, Duel Combat Realism, realistic needs and diseases and SkyRe (which I thought at first was going to be a hassle to use, apparently not) to make everything more challenging.

One shotting everything is boring, especially with dragons, Deadly Dragons and Dragon Combat Overhaul works great to stop that.
