Got some combat mods, along with a mod that allows to use more than 1 companion. Cranked the difficulty up to Legendary, took my 3 person party and had at it. Tons of fun.

Backstabs and such still pretty much one shot everything. Should you fail with the sneaky biz, you get punished by time consuming and tedious combat. Considering how I kinda mislike combat in Skyrim, this suits me well enough. It adds elements from traditional Sneaky sneak FPS to Skyrim ; failing in stealthing being this unnatural condition that introduces short end of the stick.
I've found it very difficult to find a good balance when it comes to non-stealth relying toe-to-toe combat. Either things are reasonably satisfying and ridiculously easy or alternatively challenging but unsatisfying. I enjoy a difficult fight. I don't enjoy fights where some brigand lord takes 20 hits from me while I go down should he manage 2.

You can artificially create that at any difficulty by not enchanting or upgrading your armour. I find that works for the player best as fights become challenging and you don't have to use 12 arrows to kill a Cave Bear.
Its an odd thing the difficulty meter in Bethesda games.

I tend to leave the difficulty, since the end result is enemies more HP and Player damaged increased, ass previously stated.

Try being a companion in full wolf armor getting the crap beat outta him in brawls.

Apocalypse Spell Package I had waaayyyy too much fun with this. Use ASIS to have NPCs use the new spells.
Been a while, but thanks for the heads-up for ASIS. Despite scouring for overhauls of Skyrim before and during first playthrough, that one somehow eluded me (as well as NPCs not making use of potions in the first place).
Granted, lazy me currently plays on easy-mode with a full girl-squad of five and my High Elf-dame takes out most things in one sneak-shot with Orcish crossbow in hand. Still nice to have enemies actually make use of their inventory.
One thing I wonder, though: as I am running a number of .esp altering race-appearance and individual NPCs, am I right in assuming that I'll need to do a few sessions adjusting the colour-mismatch bug in creation kit? I'll run into it soon enough I am certain, should it appear. Given the somewhat tedious load-times of the kit on my rig would still appreciate info on that.

If you're lucky, someone else may have already worked on them. It depends mostly on the popularity of your mod.

I use that too, I wish I could use ASIS but I've got enough script heavy mods and I don't want any save bloating. So its either SkyRe or ASIS and I imagine that those two running together can cause all sorts of problems.

So, I started Dragonborn yesterday, and anybody feels the same as me in the area around Raven Rock? That place feels.... suffocating, I mean, just looking at all that dust in the air makes me feels uneasy, it feels so dead... the only place that made me feel worse was the Soul Cairn.

I saw it on a video. Not really my thing since I like the cinematic intro, and Whiterun hold is an nice place to start the game.

That's how it's supposed to be, an extremely harsh environment. Not quite as miserable as the Soul Cairn though.

No, I love it. Has a warmer light than mainland Skyrim and all those hot Dunmer men walking around!Jaison1986 wrote...

Has anyone ever used the Alternate Start: Live Another Life mod?

I did, and it actually worked out reasonably well for me. Has the option to randomly pick starting-place as well, and I was spared the bias my High Elf potentially could have towards the 'cloaks due to them helping the Prisoner escape. If you wish for a blanker-slate start, it'll provide for that.
Only issue I ran into - although disabling Cerwiden's outfit-switch helped mitigate that too - was all-too frequent CTD when entering Dragonsreach. Once the mod's custom quest has run its course and you got the ordinary main-questline in your log, you can safely disable it however.

anyone know of any mods that add the AC Hidden Blade as a gauntlet or weapon?
It's not likely that you'll find that on Nexus, they don't like mods that use resources from other games unless there's permission for it. As for anyone who has done it with skyrim resources or whatever you want to call it, not likely either, weapons with "unique" animations are not easy to implement into the game. Bethesda's the only one that has added weapons with new animations, those being crossbows and I don't think they'll release anything of the sort anyway.

Instead of continuing using your latest save, load a save that is known to work, such as one of the first saves when you created the character. Once in game, load your preferred save. Done.
This glitch also happens to me with Fallout NV, which is also based on gamebryo, and is where I first learned of this workaround.
Have roughly 55 graphics related mods installed now, touching virtually every aspect of the rendered world. Game looks great with FX Injector, and no blur.

I found a work-around for the infinite loading glitch when you go to start up the game and try loading a save in the outdoors, resulting in Skyrim getting stuck in an infinite loop.

I remember that work around, I used to have to resort to it a lot with FONV on the xbox. I never thought of using it for Skyrim. I guess it might as well work with skyrim's engine being designed around Gamebryo.
You should post some screenshots with those graphics mods, I don't know if I should keep using ENBs to be honest, they work well with lighting for FONV but to be honest I've never found anything that works fine with Skyrim, at least not to my preferred standards.

Really enjoyng Solstheim. It is surprisingly uncommon for game worlds to ensure player gets to realize what has happened and what sort of tragic events have shaped the surroundings. Almost always ruined castle in fantasy RPG is just a ruined castle. See ruined castle and know it propably got fecked over when volcano nearby erupted and the place suddenly turns that much more credible and 'alive'
