Glad you're back and having fun Happy. I was enjoying it last night, just visiting places off the beaten path that I'd never really bothered with, and was having a blast. Felt good not having a deadline or big project to work on for a change.

Thanks! I'm happy to be back! Image IPB

I got a quest from Olda in Dragon Bridge last night that I'd never gotten before, called Dragon's Breath Mead. It's a simple quest, where you just have to go to a nearby area, and grab a bottle of mead, and bring it back to her. Nothing too special or difficult.

...But it got me thinking (maybe I'm the Dragonborn? Hehe.) about how many other small quests like that I've probably missed out on. I shall have to look into it. Or not. Too much research makes me over-think it.

So, normally, if I start the Companions quest line, the first quest Farkas gives me is to go and beat someone up (Hired Muscle). This time, he went right into Trouble in Skyrim, at Sunderstone Gorge. Boo, Farkas. Boo.

Just enjoy yourself and take things as they come. Research tends to detract from the fun that could be had. ;)

^ I hear that. I shudder to think how much I've spent on stupid iron ingots and ore, and I only just completed my first house. Well, I still need to build the cellar, and buy the last remaining wall hangings, but it's pretty much done.

I'm left missing what I'm always missing in house-building: Saber Cat Teeth. Blah.

And I carry a pickaxe around, which helps with the iron gathering. I stop at every vein. Image IPB

I'm not sure i'll even be building a house, it's fun but with Breezehome being surrounded by a smithy and a ton of stores i have no reason to leave, right now its all about getting 100 smithing and making that dragonbone armour, gotta look respectable when i join the Dawnguard

I have a mod that makes ore deposits glow until harvested. Makes ore gathering almost addictive and wayyy distracting, but I never lack for ore that way!

Also dual-wielding pickaxes lets you mine ore faster, and lets you mine ore other NPCs are mining.

Glowing ore? What will they think of next? Image IPB

While handy, I agree, it would probably be distracting...and addictive.

I'm on Xbox, so no mods for me. I actually don't mind the vanilla game. If I could mod it, I'd add more trees. And more color. Sometimes, it's just a bit more grey than I'd like.

You could cheat and turn up color saturation or switch to a warmer color temperature on your TV while playing.

I understand the gray thing; it's why I use FXInjector on PC, helps to remove that post-processing gray, without ruining foggy weather (which looks as good or better).

This thread has made me want to play Skyrim again. Now I don't know whether I should abandon New Vegas or not, this is always a problem with these two games. I can't play both of them at the same time.

^ I hear you with that. Two open world games at once would be really difficult to keep track of. I would probably start confusing the quests.

On a funny sidenote, my male Khajiit went to the college...and discovered that he looks just like J'Zargo. I mean, dead ringer. I have no idea how I accomplished that, and wasn't even trying. The only difference was that I gave my pc a scar on his nose.

I think J'Zargo might have different hair, too, but it's been a while since I've seen him without his hood, so I'm not sure.

The Rift and the Reach look perfect (for me). The rest could use a little improvement. I'll have to try messing with my tv.

The skies are still gorgeous, though. Image IPB

^ Haha, nice!

I was happy to finally get Rayya last night, as housecarl for Lakeview. I had a giant lurking outside the front door for days, and bandits kept showing up, wanting to turn my poor kitty into a rug. I was kind of hoping the giant would keep other enemies away, but nooo. I finally had to put them all down, as it was pretty dangerous and unnerving to be attacked every time I went out the front door.

Question time, in what ways will making Maven non essential and cutting her head off break the game?

The Civil War and the Thieves Guild will get broken. Although there is a mod made explicitly for the purpose of destroying the thieves guild, actually there are a lot, anyway in one of those mods there is an option to kill her. I'd wait until the Empire puts her in charge, to take her out. If you're not planning on doing the thieves guild quests, I know I won't because I don't want to be some Daedric Lord's slave, although there's also more than one mod that will allow you to tell Karliah to get lost. If you side with Ulfric there shouldn't be much trouble, but I'd wait until you complete Season Unending.

Well, I have my male Khajiit up to level 35. I'm doing the Dawnguard quests, and for my latest Ancient Technology quest from Sorine, got sent to Kagrenzel.

Image IPB

Either it's been too long since I last played, or I have never been to that location. Like ever, in over 1000 hours.

Somehow I survived that initial drop by landing in the water - which was quite harrowing, btw; and I probably wouldn't have made it through the cave without a follower (and my trusty Dremora buddy).

It's pretty awesome to still be finding locations, after all this time...or for them to feel completely new, whichever is the case. Image IPB

Yeah; that location is also one that took me by surprise. It still remains a favorite memory; have only been there a couple of times.

^ The size & scope of Skyrim still blows me away....

Question: Besides the Lunar powered weapons, what else is perma-bugged?

I only occasionally get quest glitches, where if I hurry to quickly through the conversation, the quest completes but remains stuck in my journal. Console commands don't get rid of it.

Have very few other obvious glitches thanks to the unofficial patches being kept up to date.

That Saint Jiub (Impatience of a Saint) quest is stuck for me. Page #9 is missing, so I'm stuck with exactly 9 pages in my inventory, and the quest in my quest log. I'm on xbox, so I can't do anything about it. I tore that place apart, looking for that stupid page, and am guessing it must have gotten stuck under or behind something near the chest.

I notice that soul gems and the like still don't group themselves together in inventory. I had hoped they would fix that by now.

Oh, I bought Proudspire in Solitude, and the Thane quest wouldn't go away when I had 5/5. It did go away when I got to 6/5, though.

Aside from that, it's been pretty good, bugginess-wise.

I seem to have encountered a glitch that prevents NPC's from appearing where they are supposed to start a quest, or stay in their homes. As far as I am able to figure, it appears to be linked to Fast Travel both to and from Cities; other locations such as stables seems to be fine. So I leave the cities before FT, and never go directly to them.

Of course, this is only a guess; have no exact idea what causes the problem.

My latest glitch has to do with Forsworn bounties, whenever I get one from Raerek and complete it, he never pays me back, he says his lines but I never get the money. I think a mod is messing with that but I don't know which one is doing this, the only I have that messes with bounties is doing nothing that would cause this according to TES5Edit.
