Part of me enjoys Dark Brotherhood quests. Perhaps a bit too much...

I enjoy assassinating the DB all sneaky like.

I did it on my Thieves Guild character.
He may be a thief but he is a THIEF not a murdering assassin.

Besides I RP that he basically laughed at Maven and told her that he was not working with her anymore since he ran the TG, and had destroyed the DB.

That's true, but in a way, I kinda look at the Dragonborn in that same regard. Sure, I can and often do nice things for the people of Skyrim, but at the same time, I get rich off of them. How am I any better than any of them?

The Dragonborn does it legitimately, at least I don't make money off of the Thieves Guild or other "business ventures" that Maven and Erikur get involved with.

True. Maybe they're working smarter, not harder? Hehe.

That got me thinking about the two hunters I accidentally killed a few days back outside Kagrenzel. I was mountain-hopping, and saw a couple of tents and people by a campfire. So I sniped them. Then when I checked their bodies, I facepalmed.

Unfortunately, my current Dragonborn seems to not quite be working for the people of Skyrim's interests. Image IPB

I reloaded, of course.

I still want to do that normal dude in Skyrim run through I saw people post about.

One guy got to level 30.
By just levelling his speech, sneak, enchanting, smithing, and archery to the max.

I loved reading his post by post updates as he retold his epic tale of running away from bandits and avoiding anything really difficult.
Although he did end up levelling up light armor to survive a bit better.

Last I read he had built a house in Hearthfire.
I got bored trying the normal guy route though.

I got to level 15 and said "SCREW IT TIME TO KILL BANDITS AND PLUNDER RUINS!"

That seems like a heck of a lot more effort than it implies.

I'm pretty sure I'd be itching to kill something less than an hour into it.

I think with the LIVE ANOTHER LIFE mod you can do it more easily.

From what I saw it lets you start somewhere else and skip the opening.

I wouldn't say it skips the opening because what it does is that  if offers a different intro, so far I've only done the vampire intro, there's a lot of other options I haven't tried.

However, it is one of the best mods out there and the person who made it is also extremely talented and is known for his stable mods and for having worked on the Unofficial patches.

Without Spoilers, simply follow the known clue found in every city.

For those who have done the DB, if you do the task before meeting interested party on a subsequent playthrough, you'll get a great reaction.

If there is one thing that really bugged me it was that after you have done the final mission for the DB, hardly anyone seems to notice, let alone care. For example you'd think the Stormcloaks might have noticed such an event and would have lauded our character in feast and in song. Not so much even when I joined up with the Stormcloaks right after doing the DB. I remember feeling like a boss until that random guard called me a milk drinking, errand boy (or something to that effect) for the Companions since I only did a few of their quests before rising to the highest ranks of both the DB and school of magic.

Anyone following the progress of this ?  www.moddb.com/mods/enderal/news/enderal-the-shards-of-order
Nehrim was the only thing that made Oblivion tolerable for me and I'm waiting for this before I try Skyrim.  (not a fan of Beth's rpg mechanics,writing..)

Yep, the innkeeper in each town will tell you about a strange boy in Windhelm (Aventus Aretino) doing the Black Sacrament.  The quest is called Innocence Lost.

But yes, as mentioned, you can help out Cicero before you do anything else, and he will acknowledge it later on in the DB questline. You can find him on the road with a broken-down wagon, right outside the Loreius Farm (North of Whiterun). Once I discovered this quest, I started doing it every playthrough.

I'm not so sure the Stormcloaks would be so supportive of that. If I were in charge I'd want to have nothing to do with it, it would hurt their cause more than it would help it. It would make them seem like a bunch of bloodthirsty murderers IMO, and their goal is to free Skyrim not go around murdering other nations' leaders. If they do support such a thing, then it wouldn't be so strange either, knowing what Ulfric is like. I think he's smarter than that, since this would earn the animosity of Cyrodiil, and it is also probably going to create a martyr, one that I'd want nothing to do with.

I think I actually prefer that not many people notice. If NPCs made a bit deal of it, I'd feel kind of icky, and perhaps a bit guilty.

As it is, I'm a little surprised at how good the gossip is in Skyrim, for most things. I mean, if you sneeze on one end of the map, and fast travel to the other, they say 'bless you' as soon as the screen loads.

I like that bit of humor in Skyrim, even if unintended. Helps keep the game fun. :)

Neloth is a the best in terms of humor for Skyrim, and people say that Bethesda doesn't know how to write characters. He should've been a permanent companion. Even if I hate Cicero, they really knew how to write him, same with Serana(but I don't hate her).

Yeah, I love all of them. Serana, though...she could stand to stop walking right in front of my aimed shots. Image IPB It's pretty funny when she sits in peoples' chairs and prays, though. When I did the Molag Bal quest the other day, she got inside the altar, like she was the Boethiah priest. *sigh*

I especially like Teldryn Sero, as far as followers go. I haven't been to Solstheim yet in this playthrough, but as soon as I get there, I'm sure I'll recruit him.

Be sure to tell Neloth that you are not his servant; results in one of the funniest bits in the game.

Sero is great. Take him back to the mainland too as he has lots of good comments for all the many sites/locations. I'm not for certain on this, but don't release him on 'Skyrim' proper. I think I lost him once by not doing in on Solstheim and had to reload an old save to bring him back. He also kicks a lot of ass. The music over there is also terrific with a lovely new theme to enjoy.

Yep, he has the best lines while we're in mainland Skyrim. I've also learned my lesson about how and when to release followers, through lots of trials, and even more errors. I've lost Jenassa and Belrand more times than I care to recall, so finally, I started releasing them where I recruited them. Even if it's out of the way.

One time, I actually found Jenassa about two weeks later in game time out in the wild, after thinking I'd lost her. She hadn't made it very far from where I released her, but at least she was alive. I have to hope she made it home safe, as I would have had to potentially lose someone to recruit her, and escort her home.
