I only did the DB quest line once.

Wiped them out every other time.
Shame that there was never an option to do that to the Thieves Guild too.

Unless you have the mod for that.
It brings the warm and fuzzies to my heart seeing Maven flop to the ground sans head.

I think keeping the Skeleton Key is as good as you can get in the vanilla game; their luck basically runs dry. Neloth inspired me towards creating a Telvanni mage who was acquiring Daedric artifacts, and it simply made more sense to keep the Key than give it up to Nocturnal (especially with the implications of how powerful it is if the wielder realizes that it can do more than simply unlock doors).

I also have my doubts about my character's deal with Nocturnal when he made the bargain as a vampire...

I don't think being a vampire means that Molag Bal owns you, or at least they have never stated this to be true. I don't think it works the same way it does with Hircine.

I dislike the Thieves Guild quests for this, you're not allowed to tell Karliah to go f herself with that Nightingale non-sense, I'd just steal the key and leave her do whatever she thinks she's going to do.

As a Thief Guild leader, my word means little, esp to Draemoira that continually ask me to deceive others. Let them fight each other for who or what gets my soul; tis mine until then.

Yeah, I love all of them. Serana, though...she could stand to stop walking right in front of my aimed shots. Posted Image It's pretty funny when she sits in peoples' chairs and prays, though. When I did the Molag Bal quest the other day, she got inside the altar, like she was the Boethiah priest. *sigh*

I especially like Teldryn Sero, as far as followers go. I haven't been to Solstheim yet in this playthrough, but as soon as I get there, I'm sure I'll recruit him.

Here's another of Serana goofing around

Not me, I spit on all those bastards, I never do their quests except for maybe Meridia and the other Daedra that don't demand your soul. In fact, I kill that Boethia priest that Molag Bal is looking for just to ****** him off. I wish I could also ****** off Hermaeus Mora. I do the same with Azura, I'm not giving her that star, she killed all those people because she wanted to get back at that mage and she screwed over the Chimer because of the actions of 3 individuals.

I meant in the sense that it seems that a vampire doesn't seem to have a soul, so I don't see how the Dragonborn can sell his soul to Nocturnal if he doesn't have one at the time; it seems like a loophole.

But as the leader of the Thief's Guild, my character is already suspect. I have only completed a few of the artifact quests, but when they were chosen, esp with this character, the lords got what they asked for: lies, deception, and much, much more.

I see, however what happens where you die or where does this soul go to as well? Interesting questions that have never been answered. I know that you have to "replace" it if you want to get cured.

Is it possible to fool them all, though?  What if they band together? It is highly unlikely given all  the petty conflicts Daedra have with each other. Nonetheless, what happens in a situation like this one I wonder.

Yep, he has the best lines while we're in mainland Skyrim. I've also learned my lesson about how and when to release followers, through lots of trials, and even more errors. I've lost Jenassa and Belrand more times than I care to recall, so finally, I started releasing them where I recruited them. Even if it's out of the way.

One time, I actually found Jenassa about two weeks later in game time out in the wild, after thinking I'd lost her. She hadn't made it very far from where I released her, but at least she was alive. I have to hope she made it home safe, as I would have had to potentially lose someone to recruit her, and escort her home.

This reminds me of time I spent ages looking for the master archer to no avail in Oblivion since it was possible for her to get killed in the wilderness. Back then I was OCD about things like this and it annoyed me to no end. I also used the big ass guide to find everything.
:pinched:
Thankfully when I went to play Morrowind for the first time (I played MW after I had played Oblivion), I got my act together, chilled out, and let the game unfold naturally. Once I figured out how to get around the map via the games various methods (silt rider, boat, spells, etc.), the game opened up to me and I started to savor the experience of exploring a rich and diverse open world and not just trying to level up and finish quests as quickly as possible.

As I recall, I have left several quests uncompleted, but finished to my satisfaction with either item or NPC under wraps. Cults were exterminated, priests killed or imprisoned, items gained but left dormant, etc. The one item I have always used is the Book, though I have only said I would help that lord a single time.

In my travels and trials, seeing how flawed these small little beings truly are makes deceiving them quite entertaining. While mindful of their power, it seems easy to manipulate them against themselves and/ or each other.

Yeah, I did that same thing with the guide, then chilled out eventually. Posted Image I still haven't played Morrowind. I tried once, but the graphics burned holes into my eyes.

Even with Skyrim, I like to walk everywhere that I can, and don't much pay attention to the map (or quest log, for the most part). It's amazing how much stuff you can find out in the wild that isn't on the map. Hidden alcoves, shrines, etc. And by now, I'm pretty familiar with the terrain, and where things are.

Wow, you guys are really worried about your souls. I usually just do all the Daedric quests (and TG), and let them fight over mine.

Hermaeus Mora is probably the most evil Daedric prince that there is! Sure, he comes off as kinda dopey and cuddly in vanilla Skyrim, but as we saw in Dragonborn, he's pretty dang awful. I suppose they all are.

Speaking of which, I can't wait to get to Apocrypha! It's been far too long.

Not so much the soul, but having some crazy spirit claiming that he owns my dragonborn.

^ For some reason, I just shake that off. It's a scary thought if I think about it too much, and I sure love the relics.

And that just reminded me of the crow in Demon's Souls that admits being scared of you, but still wants you to bring it sparkly, twinkly (stuff) to it. Sometimes the greed can help you overcome fear, hehe.

That's why I thought about the loophole (vampirism) to overcome losing your soul, unless you prefer the Constantine method (which my Werewolf embraced somewhat - from the Dread Father to Hircine having a claim to his soul).

I loved playing a character who refused to ever aid the Daedra in anything.

Hell I had a friend who said "**** you guys Im going home!" during the TG quest where Nocturnal shows up.
He always said he kinda felt bad for Karliah but he would not sell his soul to anyone.

His brother would not stop going on about it "DUDE WTF YOU LEFT!"
But his brother is a daedra fanboy.

His ring tone was "CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!" It even went off once in a grocery store.
Sheogorath for the win.

Am I the only one that became the listener, thief guild master, leader of the companions, legate of the legion, master bard, arch mage, a blade member, thane of solitude, and sold her soul to numerous of entities to become their champion?

lol I think when my dragon born dies, they will have a royal rumble for her soul.

^ I go along with the Blades, right up until that wench Delphine tries to pull a fast one with Paarthurnax. At that point, they become firmly affixed in my rearview.

But I usually do everything else you mentioned, and then some. Haven't officially sided with the Legion yet, though

You're not the only one Lady. I'm going with Legion but after doing DB (last of all), will become Skyrim's nightmare hehe. Loved doing that in Obvlivion too.

I never worry much about my "soul" or who might lay claim to it. Future games never seem to bother with that so it's easy to dismiss as being a non-issue.

Some Nords on both sides do that, but there's racism everywhere. The proprietor in Falkreath became tolerant of non-Nords because of his time in the Stormcloaks.

Can't say the Dark Elves don't deserve it. Any outsider to them is an N'wah or an Outlander. They;re probably more racist than anyone else, even more than High Elves,  probably.
