Nice to see that absorbing dragon souls is still bugged.

Off to try all the million possible solutions...

I was actually excited to start the main questline this time around, with all the new toys introduced in the DLCs.

It's not exactly easy to find, so don't feel bad. :) Still need to do Dawnguard for this run, and I've still never done the Dawnguard side of the story; I'm going to handle it with my werewolf assassin, since he wouldn't accept Harkon's offer to relinquish his lycrantrophy. I'm aiming for the Atherial Crown once I've finished up in Solstheim with my current character.

I usually side with the Dawnguard...mostly for the crossbows. I really wish you could make better ones than Enhanced Dwarven, but alas, no.

Funny you should mention the Aetherial Crown; I just got the last shard last night, and am getting ready to head to the forge. I always get the crown. Image IPB Not sure how it will look on my male kitty.

Once I picked up Teldryn, I left Solstheim. I'm now advancing the MQ. We just got to Sky Haven Temple. I've got all of the Elder Scrolls, from the Dawnguard quests, so we should be all set to finish that stuff up. Oh, and the civil war. Too much going on.

On a sidenote, I was trying to wrap up the Oblivion Walker achievement, and got skunked. I have 15 Daedric quests completed, and 15 artifacts.  I put them all in the same chest, and everything. I saved Uncle Sheo for last, and once I'd finished it...nothing. Dammit.

The only thing I can think of to do is to try to get a second artifact from Hircine:

I let Sinding live, and got Hircine's ring, and saw in the wiki that he could be found wandering, or in Falkreath's Barracks, and that you could kill him and skin him. (I completed Ill Met by Moonlight probably at least a month ago in game time). Have any of you had luck with that tactic?

^ I went back into the dungeon immediately after I got Hircine's ring, and Sinding was still there. I killed him and got the option to skin him. Hircine appeared and gave me his awesome armor, so it should work. I don't know if Sinding will still be there after such a long time, though. That might be a problem.

^^ I can't kill Erandur so that's one achievement that I won't get.

All this talk about our past DBs has me thinking of doing a Let's Play. My Youtube account has been idle for 4 years and it might be good to update it. What software do people generally recommend for a *mid* quality PC? It looks like Audacity is the winner for sound. I know FRAPS will charge $40 - is there a consensus that it is worth it? I tried messing around with Hypercam and it recorded a black screen with sound (apparently there is some button I have to hit to have it record the Skyrim window, I'm already soured on the program because whatever it is not intuitive). Are there general tricks I need to be aware of such as the "you should run the recorder and the game on different harddrives" thing?

The unofficial patches (PC only) fix this. They were updated shortly after Dragonborn came out.

Speaking about characters, I think I'm going to switch from male Altmer to female Nord, I haven't used a female character in a long while. I think I'm going to make a vampire this time. Next time I want to use an Argonian two handed warrior.

In Oblivion I played Imperials so I could max out my level, but in Skyrim I have so far been unable to make anything but bretons. I have had other characters but due to rebuilding my computer after a hardware failure I have only the one in save games now. Thus far my characters have been female, and evil to the bone, while having silver tongues and appearing to be the hero of the land.

I like the Crown, too, including it's asthetic look. Should go good with Telvanni robes, Dunmer shoes, and Fine Armguards (the latter two enchanted and renamed). Still need to get the robes - I wanted to roleplay as a proper Telvanni since Oblivion, but I preferred stealth assassin more, and now I get to stop the destruction of Mundus as one. How does the Crown look on your Khajiit Dragonborn?

How is it, running through the Main Quest with all the new goods? I'm anxious to play through the narrative with proper Telvanni attire, my Riekling hunter (I forgot how he loves to dance at random moments!) and Teldryn (who have joined me in Skyrim proper for Neloth's Briar-Heart), and my Vampire Lord upgrade (although I like to wait to complete Meridia's quest before becoming a vampire).

Thinking about the Deathbrand armor for my assassin, once I've finished with my Telvanni. Likely side with the exiled Nords with him, and overthrow the Rieklings. Do you guys side with Bujold, or accept Hrothmund's decree?

I've gotten both Daedric artifacts from Hircine (I'll likely do it again with my Telvanni, simply because he would likely gather as many Daedric artifacts as possible, despite needing neither item). I killed Sinding first, however, before meeting his other aspect outside the cave, having helped him kill all the hunters.

Do you have a save before completing Sheogorath's quest? Maybe it simply glitched that once, and it may properly recognize it with a fresh run through Pelagius' mind.

Thanks to you folks I'm back into Skyrim now. :P

Doing things a little differently this time in that I've picked up Pickpocketing and Alchemy, and will be making extensive use of the Speech tree. I will also be using Sneak and Archery to take out enemies from afar while taking other enemies out of the fight (or forcing them to fight each other) via Illusion. I know Alchemy and Illusion overlap with certain poisons a bit but I'd rather stick to damaging and paralysis poisons (Human Flesh + Imp Stool + Mora Tapinella is uber) and leave Frenzy for Illusion.

Thanks to all the enchanted rings and regular jewelry I pickpocket, I can level Enchanting quite comfortably as well. I should be pretty powerful towards the endgame, maybe too powerful. We'll see.

Erandur is an interesting character, and helped Sylgja. I'm thinking about bringing him to the Blades with my Dunmer assassin; I have more confidence in the future of the organization with him there.

Lately, most of my characters have been Atlmer, I've never actually created an Orc or a Dunmer, I don't think I ever will.

I've only sided with the Nords once, and felt dirty about every decision I had to make. Honestly, I felt a lot less guilt siding with the Rieklings. Image IPB

I think I do, actually. I'll have to give that a try.

Hooray, and welcome back! Image IPB

Pickpocketing is something I really need to get into. Somehow, I've gotten it up to 30, and have only picked 2 pockets. Doing the Bard's college quests, and reading skill books really does help. Although I think you start with a racial bonus in Pickpocket for Khajiit (right?).

I'm totally with you on Alchemy, though. In addition to the paralysis poison recipe you mentioned, I also like to mix things with Deathbell and Salt Pile for Slow. And there are always the smithing/enchanting potions to make.

I'm surprised how quickly I've been leveling Enchanting in this run. I already have it up to 80, and haven't really been trying. But I'll blame that one on Auriel's Bow - stupid thing barely holds a charge.

Think we need some cool screen shots to truly call the thread revived; character, scenery or combat, doesn't matter.

By fixing you mean disabling the patch mods, right?

'cause that's how it is. :wizard:

Why thank you.

Pickpocketing is absurdly easy to level. You can get 100 Pickpocketing just sweeping two major cities, maybe a small town just to be sure. Might take an hour tops if you grind it. By that time you'll be able to get the Perfect Touch perk and remove enemies' armor and weapons, leaving them utterly defenseless.

You also might wanna try Deathbell + River Betty for a better Slow poison. It's has a nasty Damage Health effect in addition to Slow.

I still haven't played around with Enchanting a whole lot. I know it could make my life much easier if I did, especially on Legendary difficulty which can be brutal at times. D:

EDIT: Also, you will get a lot of enchanted jewelry from Pickpocketing, and normal jewelry as well. This will help with Enchanting as you'll get a lot of stuff to disenchant (assuming you don't already have the enchantments for them) as well as plenty of normal jewelry to make junk enchantments with.

That wasn't easy :wizard:.  Protip for those who try and avoid fast travel.  Use a carriage to get to Winterhold, the "roads" going there are rather dangerous.

Was able to gather a few laughs on some Let's Play Skyrim vids from the use of the older Scenic Carriages mod, as it would run over both soldiers and guards on the way to the College of Winterhold. Unfortunately for Gopher, his saves on his first series became corrupted due to this mod; reason he re-started with Richard the Librarian. It is my understanding that the more recent version of this mod has fixed the problem, though I recommend gathering confirmation.

P.S. Think the older mod was Scenic Carriages; edit for change.

I want to play this game but the recent memory nerf to 3.1GB has me looking for mods to sacrifice so the game doesn't ctd when I approach towns. Damn consoles and their weak systems hobbling my PC games. Used to be able to play with cell rendering distance 3x what it normally is, now even 2x is too unstable. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Also Arthmoor apparently discontinued support for Open Cities for similar reasons, citing similar frustration. Grrrr again.

Am also trying to avoid the problem. Gopher has suggested using custom installs of certain mods like SMIM to help manage memory; seems to have been aiding my game.
