I had forgotten about the Orcs and their history with the Redguards and Bretons. Orsinium has been sacked countless times throughout history by the forces of Hammerfell and High Rock, leaving the Orcs scattered and disenfranchised all over Tamriel just about. I'm surprised they're not more openly hostile towards Redguards and Bretons in the games.

Hey thanks again, I appreciate the info.

Quick question about the Ebony Blade: Do the kills (to charge it) have to be sequential?
I ask because I feel like it should be charged completely by now, but Mephala keeps saying the line about her blade 'swelling'....

You just need to kill 10 friendly NPCs with the blade - it is not necessary to kill them in a row. Mephala should say the blade is restored to its rightful glory or something along those lines when the tenth victim dies.

^ given the orc view on things, id say that'd actually give them more respect for Redguards and Bretons rather than open hostility.

If she doesn't speak to you after every 2 kills, some of your victims were invalid.

I didn't realize Mephala speaks to you at all while you're out bloodying her blade. I usually do that quest, but the sword sits in a chest for the rest of the game. I just feel terribly guilty about befriending someone then killing them...although I did try it once.

I can kind of justify sacrificing someone for Boethiah (I mean, come on, Ebony Mail), but the Ebony Blade just doesn't seem worthwhile. Isn't the damage only like 50, when it's maxed? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding how that works?

I just wiped her entire group at and said "NO" to helping her.

I still miss that game where I never joined anything or anyone.
Just wandered around doing whatever I felt like.

Got to level...30ish and said...damn I want to do questline.

Technically, you could ressurect and kill the Argonians from Lights Out (Deeja and Jaree-Ra) with the Ritual Stone to get the kills to count (over and over again), without killing anyone you'd rather keep alive. Both of them also count for the initial kills with the Ebony blade.

As for the maximized Ebony blade, it's mostly the replenishing health feature that I found useful. Constant attacks against dragons, while the Ebony mail also factored into the attacks, was very nice.

Those are, like, the funnest playthroughs.  The freedom is  *authentic*.  You live off the land.  You explore for exploration  sake.  You get filthy rich, then you build a hearthfire house and retire  in it.

I did that on my last playthrough.  Made me fall in love with Skyrim all over again.

Lately, those playthroughs seem to be all I do as well, except I don't exactly live off the land, more like live of the people's money, my characters are basically mercenaries, getting paid to kill bandits and idiot forsworn leaders.

Skyrim is two years old today!  You should celebrate by howling at the moon, standing in a doorway when somebody wants to pass through, try and convince Happy to start a new character, or post a cool screen shot :wizard:

You know, I have been thinking about creating a male Dunmer. I wonder if I could make one to look like Teldryn Sero...

Oh, and here's an oldie but goodie.

In order to avoid useful NPC casualties, I usually kill Jaree-Ra, Deeja, Narfi, Beitild, whoever I sacrifice to Boethiah... then cast Raise Zombie on each of them and kill them a second time. That always fills the blade right up, and avoids having to kill any non-quest NPCs.

Also, I'll just leave this here...

Mannequins are creeps, that bug has only happened to me once and it was in Markarth in Vlindrel Hall. It was kind of scary, especially with that city and the fact that Vlindrel Hall is kind of dark doesn't help.

That would be seriously terrifying. Posted Image

That snapshot was actually from the Severin Manor in Raven Rock. I haven't had too many other strange mannequin encounters, aside from them not being on their pedestal, thankfully.

I stopped making them a long while ago. :crying:

All of my stuff is just dropped somewhere now. Preferably a high shelf, where the self-creating, replicating daedra-controlled mannequins can't reach them. :?

I just got my son (12 years) the legendary edition for his birthday. He played it quite a bit when I had him at my place on weekends. Now he has his very own copy, and when I suggested he start a Nord playthrough & roleplay it, he ran with the idea. He keeps texting me questions about lore and what is an "immoral" action. Ahh... so proud of my boy!

Well, 11/11; two years and still playing. What better way to celebrate than reminiscing...

Ok, I admit, snapshots like those do kinda make me wish I was playing on pc. ;)

Hooray! I have a similar pride of my nephew, but he's got the attention span of a box of ferrets. It seems like he always reverts back to Minecraft.

But every time I see him playing Skyrim, it makes me happy. I'm almost done with AC4, so I'll be able to get back to my latest character (my male Khajiit)...or I'll make another one. We will see.

Its shocking to think back two years ago to when I first played Skyrim.

I still recall seeing Blackreach for the first time to today.

A shot of Markarth, for being a place surrounded by maniacs, it sure has its sights.
