When it comes to sights, I think one of my favourite places is still Ancestor Glade.

Beautiful scenery is all well and good, but what we really wanna know is...  What's for dinner?

Image IPB

lol

Also, you know you've arrived as the ultimate swordsman, when you can decapitate people without removing their hoods:

The Forgotten Vale. One of the most breathtaking locations in not just Skyrim, but probably any game I've played really. It's also the setting of what I honestly think is the best quest in the game (Touching the Sky).

Only Elder Knowledge/Discerning the Transmundane and Hail Sithis! come close. Always a tremendous pleasure to do all of them.

I think Dawnguard in general brought you to some of the prettiest locales in the game, really.

After it, Solstheim was a little underwhelming, though I can appreciate the fact it probably wasn't meant to be pretty.

I agree. Fort Dawnguard, Castle Volkihar, The Soul Cairn, and Ancestor's Glade were all quite something.

Dawnguard was the better DLC in general by far. Dragonborn needed a bit more time in the oven, but was sadly shoved out before it was truly ready IMHO.

I do appreciate the many Morrowind-isms of Dragonborn though. As a long time TES player, I'd be lying if I said it didn't move me to see House Redoran and the Skaal alive and well, and come upon a Telvanni mushroom tower while Morrowind music played calmly in the background.

I realize I'm a little late, and I realize I haven't played this game like it "deserves," but I feel compelled to tell Skyrim happy birthday.

I liked the Aetherium Wars questline. And you know, Dwemer structures are pretty cool.

My husband got some kind of collector's edition of The Hobbit, and has been watching the bonus material for two days now. It was pretty interesting to hear about how dwarves were planned and created in The Hobbit. They discussed their architecture at some length, and it just reminded me of Skyrim.

Skyrim deserves it. It's pretty cool how Skyrim brought us together in this thread - it gave us all something to enjoy and discuss, from the idyllic scenery to the lore and the myriad of people who inhabit the plane of Mundus.

I spent some of Skyrim's birthday embracing Harkon's gift.

Pretty!

I just finished the Falskaar mod. It's amazing considering it's an amateur work. Recommended. Lots of side quests, a quality main quest, it's basically a huge DLC. I had no major bugs, only little glitches here or there that could as easily happen in the main game.

Had Ulfric there with me, so it was a royal visit.

Here's one of my favorite scenery shots, atop Moesring Pass on Solstheim.

Have people switched sides for the civil war in "A Jagged Crown"? I've never done it before, and I'm thinking about pursuing it.

You would think that having intel on the enemy would be advantageous to the side you defect to, and departing to the Stormcloaks could be seen to mirror Ulfric's own defection from the Legion and the Empire.

You know I wish I could lose my memories of Skyrim to play it again, with no spoilers and no prior knowledge.

I still think back to my very first game and recall seeing those things for the first time.
There has never been something quiet so epic as seeing Sovngarde for the first time for me.

I think there has never been a game that has created scenery and landscapes as well as Skyrim did.

Well, if you wait long enough, dungeons and the like feel brand new. I went into some in my latest run that I hadn't been in since my first run, and it was like I'd never been in any of them. It would be difficult to 'forget' what you know in regard to the story, though.

Its shocking to think back two years ago to when I first played Skyrim.

I still recall seeing Blackreach for the first time to today.

I love Blackreach. I really should get back there again soon.

I also found a panorama shot of Blackreach, which is pretty cool.

You know...I wish there was a mod to let you conquer Blackreach.

Or like a DLC.
Where you clear it out, and turn it into a fortress or something.

Or maybe just turn it into a club with a "No Thalmor" sign outside

Wow, I've been checking out some videos for it. I'm astounded by the mod's high quality. Apparently the creator is aiming for a job at Bethesda... and I must say, that's one hell of a job application he's submitted. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting contacted by someone at Bethesda.

EDIT: Really dumb grammatical error that I just noticed. <_<

And even if Bethesda doesn't pick him up, I'm sure some other company will.

If you betray the imperials like that does Balgruuf the Greater get to remain jarl of whiterun?

I want to decapitate that worthless pyjak general tullius, preferably with a massive axe for irony's sake, but I'm not fond of the idea of deposing Balgruuf to do it.

No, Balgruuf goes to the Hall for Naughty Jarls in the basement of the Blue Palace and sticks pins in his Ulfric voodoo doll for the rest of the game.  Which is a cream tart he made kind of look like Ulfric.

Vignar is just as good a jarl and has less familial baggage.  Dude was a legion commander for 30 years and he's not having any of this Thalmor nonsense.

I did learn recently that originally Balgruuf was meant to be truly neutral, i.e. you could persuade him to join the Stormcloaks.  There are voice files for him that are the same as Vignar's at Season Unending.
