Vignar is just as good a jarl and has less familial baggage. Dude was a legion commander for 30 years and he's not having any of this Thalmor nonsense.
I did learn recently that originally Balgruuf was meant to be truly neutral, i.e. you could persuade him to join the Stormcloaks. There are voice files for him that are the same as Vignar's at Season Unending.

Also, I noticed another tell-tale sign that applies to all the strongholds.greengoron89 wrote...
All of his guards carry Imperial swords, make pro-Empire statements (particularly if you wear Stormcloak or Legion armor in their presence), his brother Hrongar is staunchly anti-Stormcloak, Whiterun is listed as under Imperial control on the map upstairs in Dragonsreach, and Balgruuf himself despises Ulfric. I don't know why he ever pretended to be "neutral" in the first place.

Wow, it's disappointing that Bethesda cut that. Now Balgruuf doesn't really come off as neutral at all in retrospect. I feel like it was all a ruse of some kind.

Just wanted to let you know... I made a male Dunmer last night. I tried like hell to get him to look like Teldryn Sero, and I think he turned out pretty good. I'll snap some pics tonight, if I remember.Joy Divison wrote...

Agree about the light armors. Which is somewhat ironic because I think the "light" weapons (i.e. elven and glass) have awesome aesthetics. I do like the scale look, though that's a long way off from level 1.
Looking forward to some cool pics of Andarys.

I know there's that shrine of Talos where there's those dead Nords and that Thalmor fool, but how come no one arrests Heimskr. Whiterun still maintains that shrine of Talos too. You'd think they'd get rid of that if the could do whatever they wanted in Whiterun.
This is causing a moral dilemma in my mind, I'm not really sure who to side with. I don't like killing General Tullius, and I don't respect Ulfric nor do I trust him with the throne.
EDIT: In fact I don't killing either Ulfric or Tullius. Why didn't they add an option for their surrender? Both sides have their good reasons.

Most of my characters are female, and I think the Dragonscale looks good on the female character model. (I haven't tried it on any of my male characters yet). And thankfully, it doesn't have the ginormous boob cups that some of the other armors have.Elhanan wrote...

Prefer Hide and Leather, and avoid using Elven, Glass, or Dragonscale. I do like Stalhrim except for the helms. For some recent characters, I started taking both base Light and Heavy perks, and wear the best type for the slot.
Immersive Armors mod has some decent selections; might give them a look if not already installed.

Glass armor on a female is just...eww. The parts around the...nether regions...look like a strange glass hand, trying to do unmentionable things. It is just bad. I've seen pics of the glass armor on males, and it's not quite as offensive. Glass helmets are kind of ugly on both.

Thanks a lot. I never saw a hand in that.

Have people switched sides for the civil war in "A Jagged Crown"? I've never done it before, and I'm thinking about pursuing it.
You would think that having intel on the enemy would be advantageous to the side you defect to, and departing to the Stormcloaks could be seen to mirror Ulfric's own defection from the Legion and the Empire.
I did it just to make a video of it.

Also I think the Civil War quest is *supposed* to put players in a moral dilemma and make them feel uncomfortable about the consequences of taking a side. War is never black and white and Civil Wars especially so because it is so often puts members of the same family on opposing sides. Speaking for myself, although I do believe the Empire died the day it signed the White-Gold Concodat and allowed a foreign power to dictate policy and jurisprudence in its own lands - something *no* nation/empire/kingdom that even has pretensions of being a great power, let alone "THE empire," would allow - I am uncomfortable putting Ulfric on the throne. While he generally does have what he feels are the best intrest in Skyrim at heart, he also is someone who concerned with removing any impediments to his own power and talks too much of war at the conclusion of the Civil War when peace and recovery are what Skyrim needs. I don't begrudge Tulius; he's just an officer doing his duty and demonstrates a greater capacity than Ulfric for reconsidering his own prejudices.

I need to get him some decent armor, though; he's still wearing the crap he left Helgen in.
I only played for about an hour, after I finished AC4 - just long enough to create him, then get him to Whiterun, so he's only level 1.
Thanks for the reply and the info.Addai67 wrote...

Got a question for all you PC players: what mods do you recommend? I'm seriously considering getting the Legendary Edition and I wanna know what mods you think are the best.
