Got a question for all you PC players: what mods do you recommend? I'm seriously considering getting the Legendary Edition and I wanna know what mods you think are the best.
best mod EVAR

@Zazzerka: All the ones I use that I'd recommend for anyone, excluding anything graphics or character facemorph related:
SkyUI - This one actually is essential, if you plan on downloading anything else.
The Dance of Death - Killmoves. Lets you set pretty much anything related to them.
Immersive Armour - adds much more variety to the game's armour selection, and distributes them like they were in the game in the first place.
Immersive Weapons - same as above, but for weapons.
Improved Combat Sounds - so you feel a little more like you're hacking at flesh and less like butter.
Sounds of Skyrim - all of them. Add A LOT to the atmosphere.
Cloaks of Skyrim - just looks awesome, is all. :S
Bandoliers - helpful. And stylish.
Dragon Combat Overhaul - changes dragon fights from 'oh. a dragon.' to "************************" like it should.
Ultimate Combat - A very adjustable mod, to make combat a lot more gratifying.
Falskaar - an absolutely immense mod, pretty much a DLC unto itself.
Alternate Start - Live another life - gets rid of the annoying heavily scripted intro you're forced to do, unless you choose the 'I was caught crossing the border' 'origin.'
Predator Vision - fixes the fugly vanilla night vision, and gives something cool to vampires and werewolves.
Frostfall - not for everyone, but adds some immersion that the game sorely needed.
Player Headtracking - a tiny thing that adds so much.
Interesting NPCs - adds a lot of life to the game in the characters department. Warning though, mod is so huge it can't be uninstalled after.
Better Vampires - well...better vampires. Cause vampires sucked before.
Moonlight Tales - WEREBEARS. F*CKING WEREBEARS.
Civil War Overhaul - adds some legitimate strategy and interest to
the otherwise bland gameplay-wise civil war arc.
The Parthurnaax Dilemna - Fixes a rather annoying part of the main quest, basically.
RaceMenu - completely revamps the CC
Immersive HUD - I'm going to stop explaining why now.
Don't forget SKSE.
...whew.

Frostfall is great due to highly configurable options. It can be made as harsh or passive as the Player desires. Wet & Cold goes very well with this for visuals; also one for Solstheim and ash storms.
However, there is a 3.1 CTD problem with Skyrim, so some priorities for mods should be made to avoid this error. And I also choose Vampirism as a way to avoid the issue.

Thanks for the tip, Splinter. I'd intended to install Interesting NPCs so that might have been a problem.
After looking at stuff for Moonpath to Elsweyr and Tropical Skyrim, I'm convinced the next TES game needs to be set in Elsweyr and Valenwood. Deserts and jungles are ripe for an Elder Scrolls game (not counting ESO) - throw in Summerset Isles and the setting could be used to forward the Aldmeri Dominion storyline if Bethesda intends to do anything more with that.

A lot of Skyrim's landscape design made me think of Greenland during summer more than anything else, actually. Which is pretty much precisely what I was expecting, besides, once again, The Reach.

Well, to be fair, the old Cyrodiil probably would have been pretty bloody boring to play in.

Arena (the first Elder Scrolls game) and all pre-Oblivion TES lore claimed that Cyrodiil was a large forest with only one major city (The Imperial City).
Obviously, Bethesda didn't stick to that.
So audience expectations definitely mean nothing to them.

If you could hop from tree to tree, and do overhead assassinations like in Assassin's Creed, a jungle sounds awesome. Well, actually, just sniping with a longbow/crossbow from a tree branch, high above your enemies, could be pretty fun.Joy Divison wrote...
I noticed a lot of people kind of wished that Bethesda made Cyrodill a big jungle. While that is certainly *different* from the standard RPG, that strikes me as incredibly boring. No ruins, no vistas, no cities, no diversity, no nothing except trees.
