I'm pretty good at modding, having done it for a few decades, and loved my Skyrim until the Legendary patch happened (I deeply regret allowing Steam to update the game...). Anyway, I've gone retro with DOSBox games lately to take a break from modding.

Will watch that vid this weekend.

Haven't had any issues on Youtube with Firefox; only use Internet Exploder for Windows Update.

Yeah according to some people that patch was partially responsible for Open Cities going bad. It also screwed many of the animations and it is also the reason why sleep mods have trouble opening the character's eyes.

Don't Legendary skills kind of go hand-in-hand with SkyRE? I know the mod requires you to go past the level cap, which patch 1.9 allows you to do now without mods.

SkyRe existed long before the legendary patch. What you're looking for is Skyrim Uncapper, which extends the skill level caps and the level cap itself. It works better than the legendary patch and has also existed way before that patch. SkyRE itself brings some options for uncapper, when you install it, it will appear in the options that SkyRe's installer gives to you.

No disrespect to that modder, but knowing the type of mods that come from that person, I can expect that the hairs will use this are probably from the likes of Apachii hair and what not. That's sad because I refuse to use that mod, tried it twice and those hairs look ridiculous. I use female characters from time to time and I dislike how that mod makes females look like princeses and super models, especially in a place like Skyrim.

Besides, the hair mod that the author wants to use can only be found in a very bad place from which I will not ever download anything. I've also seen some of the hairs, and they are equally as ridiculous. Too bad, I wish it had been someone else that had come up with this mod and not that author in particular.

I agree that Apachii hair is pretty ridiculous. Though it adds Geralt's hair from TW, which is probably why I have it downloaded. :S

As far as hairstyle mods go, this one is my favourite, because they actually fit the setting. That headband-ponytail look was perfect for my female Wood Elf character. :3

Yeah, that one works well, I use it too along with some others that are more realistic. Yes Apachii has that one hair, but I'm not downloading it just for that one thing, its a huge file, wastes too much space.

I prefer lore-friendly mods that don't overly pretty things up or otherwise look out of place, so I won't be doing any of those hair mods like that. Might not even alter the CC or NPCs at all since I think most of them look well enough as they are.

Also, I'm gonna test out Climates of Tamriel and see how that goes. The screenshots and videos for it look amazing.

I don't think I'd be able to play without Climates of Tamriel now. I think I've completely forgotten what the weather patterns were like without it, actually. :S

Do you use a particular ENB for CoT, and do you use any sound mods? I notice there's an optional file for CoT adding ambient sounds and was contemplating downloading it... sadly I can find no preview for it.

I was also interested in the Winter Edition you can download... I just always considered Skyrim as a cold, snowy area all around as I mentioned before.

I just use Project ENB with it. I find it strikes my fancy the best visually as it retains the feel of the vanilla game, while having the best performance on my system of all the ENBs I've downloaded, to boot.

I didn't use COT's ambient sounds, because I already used Sounds of Skyrim. (The Wilds, Dungeons and Cities, all of which I can't recommend enough if immersion is your thing.) so I imagine it would have gotten a bit redundant.

I also use Personalized Music, because as great as Skyrim's soundtrack is I needed something fresh.

Of the few ENB's I have seen, RealVision Performance ENB was the one that impressed me the most:

Personally, I use CoT (my fave mod) and Enhanced Lights and FX for ambience; quite pleased with less of a hit on memory.

I use this ENB with CoT, it fits perfectly with Skyrim's vanilla lighting. I also use a mod called Enhanced Lighting and FX, which is amazing for interiors, lighting and dungeons, it also works perfectly with CoT and that ENB I mentioned.

Sound mods I use Imersive Sounds - Weaponry and Immersive Sounds - Magic, which change the sounds for those things. There's another sound which is pretty good, its called Skyrim Audio Overhaul, however I do not recommend using it since it has incompatibilities with a lot of mods, some people end up needing to use over 20 patches or so to make it work, to me that doesn't sound very good and it also might mean that what the mod wants to accomplish is not possible or that it wasn't built very well.

If you want a Winter Skyrim, I'd recommend this mod along with CoT Winter Edition, you could just use Winter Edition but the problem is that it doesn't place snow in towns, so the outside of Whiterun may have snow, but inside the city there isn't any, that mod fixes that. Although, you should note that it also uses 1k textures for some stuff.

Personalize Music. It doesn't count as a sound mod exactly but I use it, I added some tracks from Dragon Age and from the Witcher into the game through this and they fit very well.

For people who played Dawnguard, has anyone been able to encounter Lynoit? I've been trying to acquire his cache key, but I've never been able to encounter him, while I've encountered the other two Dawnguard agents. The other two seem to show up in areas related to their notes; is that the case for Lynoit?

Any help would be appreciated, as I'm starting to feel like Cicero now.

I'm pretty sure this is a random encounter.  It's also very easy to miss as a corspe wearing brownish armor tends to be difficult to spot on, say, the plains of Whiterun Hold.

I was worried I might have missed it, too. I only discovered recently that Lynoit is supposed to be dead; I looked into him when I encountered his two other counterparts randomly, and found it strange that I encountered two named Dawnguard members with notes and caches, rather than the typical assassins or nameless mobs. And I discovered the vampire ashes near Lynoit are quite luminescent, although it was also getting dark.

I think so. I found his corpse once. In the Reach, somewhere. and his note says something about establishing a cache drop network in the west... so...

But yeah, it's random as far as I know.  You could very well find him way over in the east, near the mage college  lol  Happy hunting!

I finally encountered him - at a valley to the far left of Bloated Man's Grotto, where I remembered Forsworn sometimes spawned. My Frost Atronachs also ended up killing the snotty noble and his Legion bodyguard when my Telvanni was zooming past them in Vampire Lord form, while the Stormcloak courier seemed to successfully evade them.

Forgot how long the Thieves Guild questline can be; have not played it since the initilal playthrough. Chose to RP events a bit more this time, and allow certain circumstances alter the story.

Now my male Bosmer is unlike previous characters in that while he has more Skill at this point, his gear is not that great (ie; No Enchanting again, and have had poor luck in the markets). While Mercer is dead, I still have much to do to get the Guild properly on it's feet. And his treachery caused a long hiatus from the TG while the DB recovered from his wounds at the College of Winterhold; student only.

Added AFT to the game, but have not received a book in game. The mod is apparently active, as Cicero now knows modern dance, but how does one Tweak the Followers?

Why do you not have the book in your inventory?

In any case, the book itself is not functional.  it's just an extremely useful "readme".

There's two ways to tweak your followers and settings.  One way is to click on a follower to get dialogue choices... then take it from there.  Another way is to go into your Magic menu, then scroll down to your "powers" section.  You should then see a couple of AFT related options... such as "tweak followers"

Now, some commentary.  That mod is amazing.   Among a million other things it lets you do, you can have an unlimited amount of   followers with you at once.    For instance,  if you're looking for some Lulz, walk into Jorvaskr and get Aela, Farkas, Vilkas, Ria and Njada to join you.... all at once.  Then  proceed to steam roll through Bleak Falls barrow or whatever dungeon you wish to flatten and utterly clear.

Have no idea why the book did not appear; tried to reinstall, but still nada. So thanks for the info, as being shoved off cliffs and into traps by fellow Nightingales was getting old rather fast.

Also cannot decide if I like the new or old Cicero dancing animations; decision, decisions.... Image IPB

Gopher posted a new Skyrim Mod Sanctuary today; a bit more whimsical than the norm. However, it does contain a mod that looks very appealing, and I thought some here may like the option. It is for a new map interface; reportedly looks like either the 1) Oblivion style map, or a bit like 2) LotR style of cartography. I chose the latter, and will give it a try for a while, simply cause it rigs nostalgic.

Sheesh, why the hell didn't I just buy Skyrim for PC in the first place? I don't even have all that many mods installed and it completely shames the console versions in nearly every way.

The only downside is I can't make it quite as pretty as other peoples' copies due to the hardware limitations of this PC, but it still looks better than the 360 version in many ways thanks to some mods like Climates of Tamriel, Wet and Cold, Enhanced Blood, and Pure Waters. If I can get a nicer PC soon I'd love to get a good ENB (the ENBs I've tried so far are resource hogs sadly). and some other nifty graphics mods.

Beyond that I have the Alternate Start mod which lets me start out with something other than get executed by the Legion. I can just hop right into Skyrim as a bandit, vampire, Stormcloak, Companion, etc. without going through any kind of "tutorial." Good stuff.

Many of the texture, meshes, and FX mods also have options for lesser graphical settings; recommend these for limited systems. Mods can enhance the experience, even if not fully applied.

One of those mods that took me by surprise was Static Mesh Improvement Mod (ie; SMIM); an instant success at boosting the appearance to the game. And a custom install offers oodles of options, including lesser settings for limited systems.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655/?

All this said about modding, it was the E3 vids displayed on a 360 that sold me on Skyrim originally; simply one of the most stunningly beautiful games I have seen in the genre.

Possibly, but all I want in my solo play is less annoyance during those occasions when a Follower is forced upon me (eg; Barbus, Nightingales, Anska, Serana, etc). AFT may well be the answer to that specific problem.

I like abusing follower mods, actually. There's something gratifying about it.

I remember when I was delving into Blackreach - which, with the game actually being legitimately difficult with all the combat mods I've downloaded and at Master - would be a rather sketchy task with just my blade and spell dude and Serana, so I galloped around to every city and town and recruited every follower that was available to me, and lead my fellowship into Blackreach. Out of the fifteen I had with me, eight made it out.

Felt like a BioWare game. Or LOTR. Something. I just wish I had Peter Jackson's helicopter camera so I could fit them all into a screenshot while on horses. Even tfc couldn't get them all. :S
