I had been wondering if there was some lore regarding the swirl-painted cows, in regard to giants. Interesting that they mention Nords being as tall as giants. That would be something to see.

On a similar note, I remember Jenassa saying something to the effect that the Dwemer were not short, as people assumed, but were the same approximate height as everyone else. Which makes you wonder if the Dwemer are still around, but look like Nords, Imperials, or one of the other races, so you just don't notice them.

Thanks for sharing, Addai!

@Joy - I hadn't thought of that whole otherworldly price aspect, regarding Briar Hearts. Surely there's got to be some kind of price paid for that.

All this stuff blows my mind.

The devs have pretty much confirmed that the Dwemer went poof, apart from Yagrum Bagam who appeared in TES III. They became the skin of Numidium.

I think poof is an underrated word :wizard:

I'm trying to roleplay meeting up with Happy's pal Eola and...it's not easy!

Just listen to her sultry voice. You'll be under her spell in no time. Image IPB

Actually, for as gross as it sounds (and is), Namira's ring is pretty handy for health/stamina regen, especially at lower levels.

I found it easier to help Namira in Oblivion. Never have been able to go through with the Skyrim quest, ha.

I haven't played Morrowind but don't worry. I'm getting that game. I hear it's awesome!

So what about the other Elderscrolls games? Are they any good?

What level are your DBs when they first reach Markarth?  And how long do you wait before becoming Namiera's champion?

Well, it depends on if I'm planning on taking Eola as a follower after completing the quest. Her level cap is 30, so I try to get to that region around level 20 or so, to take advantage of about 10 levels with her.

If I'm smart, I get Reachcliff Cave on my map first, then head to Markarth, then fast travel back to do her quest. After level 30, I pick up Belrand, and hang out with him until level 40. Then I get Teldryn Sero.

I'm sure you notice a trend here; I really like having Nightblades/Spellswords as followers. I rarely ever use warrior types anymore. They're just too trigger-happy, so to speak. My exception is Jenassa, for early levels. And Ghorbash, who I always make a Steward (or spouse).

If you mean in the context of thralls, I never got that impression, since the Briarhearts seem to be in charge of certain locations as leaders, and the Briarhearts appear to be autonomous (unlike the golems of the Anvil, save Shale and Caridin). Neloth's interest in them for his Heartstone experiment gave no indication it put the Forsworn warrior under anyone's control.

I didn't mean as a parallel because I know the hagravens do not have control rods.  But what we have here is a procedure that takes a living being, does something that ends that living being's natural life, in return for a form that possesses more power, but aso a process that comes at a same price: sacrifices necessary to act as fuel.

I find it difficult to believe there is not an otherwordly price as well.  if vampires, lycanthropes, and daedra worshippers give up/sell their normal mortal body or soul in exchange for more wordly powers, someone needs to explain to me why briarhearts are somehow exempt from this paradigm.

Ah, I see. There could be a price to pay for their "undeath" status. It simply seems to be one that some are willing to pay, like with the protagonist accepting Harkon's gift or becoming a member of the Circle. I wish we could get more insight into the Forsworn.

^ Yeah, I hope they share some insight into that in the next game...or, you know, it would have been really good to do for the next DLC Bethesda SHOULD have made for Skyrim.

After a very long time, I recently returned to playing Skyrim and got both Dragonborn and Hearthfire intending to rush over to Solsteim... Only to spend two days building my house before I even got on the boat. Weird how addicting that was.

I always seem to get caught up in that Hearthfire vortex, too. In my last run, the Morthal house bugged something awful, so I wasn't able to finish it, but completed the other two. My husband always asks why I don't just have my Steward furnish the rooms, and my response is to roll my eyes. He just doesn't get it. For some reason, I just have to collect all the crap myself.

Me too, though I was sort of role playing that my Nord was a hardcore do-it-yourself sort of person to explain it.

I'm pretty happy with the Pale house I finished, though the armor mannequins are bugged and won't stop spawning the First piece of armor I put on them.  Now it won't display the armor I put on and I have unlimited duplicates of Miraak's boots and gloves.

^ Oh, you musn't take the mannequins' names in vain, or they will turn on you!

But I know what you mean. I have one in my Falkreath house that I was using as an armor dumping ground, and there are so many items on it, that the game (sometimes) freezes when I look at the inventory, as it apparently can't hold the couple hundred items I have stashed on it. Such a waste.

It's rumored to be a name given to them by the giants after an encounter in the Velothi Mountains.

I think we see the fate of the dwarves with Arniel's experiment.

Yeah. We already know what happened to them, which is exactly what they wanted to happen anyway. They became the god they wanted.

Aside from the one in Morrowind, I don't think so. Which is okay; I like the mystery.

Poor Arniel Gane, no one remembers him transcending the mortal plane in pursuit of the Dwemer mystery.

Arniel Gane's summoned chicken cracked me up. Does anyone ever use the summon spell you get for doing that quest? I'd like to know why I'd want the shade of Arniel and his chicken following me around.

No, I don't think being a giant bronze robot that didn't move is what they wanted. They wanted to get away from it all.

Uncertain, but have read that he is one of the more powerful Summons in the game. At this point, he is supposedly highly resistant to both poisons and physical damage. See more here:
