I find enchantment is easier than smithing. Enchantment only requires that you get a bunch of soul gems, banish or sneak and a bunch of crap items to level it up. On the other hand smithing gets progressively harder.
As for cheating, I think I might cheat my way to level 40, been trying to make a playthrough but I had to deal with a lot of CTD problems, I finally got my game stable and unfortunately I had to trash a level 50 character because of those problems.
I never fast travel, I use Frostfall and disable it on purpose, however I do agree with the vampire thing, that place is just in the worst location ever, everything except Solitude is far away. I hate it when vampire missions have you sent to the Rift, Whiterun or Eastmarch.
When I am playing an allied Vampire, I use Fast Travel as a way of RP the Bat Travel transport; available in some mods. However, I simply try and keep the distances rather short and reasonable.
I use commands for Smithing; a tad for Enchanting towards the upper limits. Again, using some restrictions aids in keeping these 'learning sessions' reasonable; not wanting to exceed other Skills too much, if possible.
And I also use commands for supplying items that could be available based on other like items found in shops. If they have a Peerless version in Dwarven ,and also sell common Orcish items, it seems reasonable to get one with the same effect. Simply purchase the one, and have the Smith 'craft or import' the other via console.
Where most of us likely differ is that I also supply lockpicks and gold frequently, as I loathe shopping hauls found in most CRPG's. The first playthrough is done as standard, but after that I choose to skip all the long treks to the mall to sell loot. This also sims many of the mods that alter trade and economics, but no scripting problems.
