Unless there's a Skyrim Gamer of the Year Award ($500 prize) given to honest players, I'd say it doesn't matter what you do in your game.

I think this guy won it last year Image IPB

And deservedly so! Image IPB

Perhaps you would win, but being on a console, or not using console commands does not stop a Player from using exploits and gaming the system. When I read of hints that state one can pay for Training, then simply take the gold back from the instructor in some fashion, I wince a bit.  Same goes for exploits in spamming Skills to increase points. Etc.

While that's true, like I said, I don't munchkin (use exploits or spam skills). I did the iron dagger trick way early on, admittedly, but realized what I was doing, reined myself in, and decided to take a non-milk-drinker approach. I don't even pay for training.

So now I earn every level fair and square. Image IPB

I never played Morrowind.  What's the difference between Boethia in Morrowind and Skyrim?

The Nerevarine is tasked with getting the Orc sculptor, Duma gro-Lag, with fixing the shrine of Boethia in order to receive Goldbrand - a weapon rumored to have been created by dragons. Boethia simply wants his shrine restored, since his priests have forgotten him, while his demand in Cyrodiil is to test the Champion's mettle against other willing opponents.

In Morrowind, M'aiq (the apparent progenitor of the M'aiq family) can tell the protagonist about Boethia's task. Amusingly, Nerevarine will describe it as: "[this] khajiit seems to have a lot of ridiculous information". It's a trait the Liar clan inherited.

I just completed Part II of the Desdenova-Eola partnership.  It was the first time I really tried to role-play Reachcliff Cave and contemplate Eola's offer.  I think Desdenova's comments after hearing it bring up some potential problems with how the game presents the quest if you do not metagame.

I didn't mean the fact that Boethia is their God-Ancestor, but rather the requests to murder a follower as a sacrifice, followed by killing select people in stealth (the main target being a man who rescues people with the Ebony Mail), which seems to run counter to the ideals and behavior of most Redoran warriors. I know they talk about respect for the Aedra and Daedra, but this would seem to run counter to the behavior of a Redoran warrior who upheld these values.

From the end of Boethiah's Proving:

~If in reading, your blood boils in your veins, and your mind blazon with fire, then Boethiah calls you. It is then most wise heed to her call. Find her on the mount which overlooks Windhelm. Meet us there and be tested.~

Maybe after reading it, your Redoran's blood doesn't boil, and he looks for other ways to pay his respects to Boethiah (duty to one's own honor).

Yeah, I'm looking to play as an honorable Redoran warrior when my Telvanni run is concluded. I have enough underhanded actions committed and planned with my Telvanni, so being treacherous isn't planned for my warrior.

I actually uninstalled Skyrim one week ago. Felt like the end of an era.

There really should have been *five* DLCs in total. At the end of Dragonborn one has so many new cool powers that cannot be put to use on anything substantial.

But HoonDing we get a cool looking new MMO and everything! That lessens the sting right?

Gah.
I feel like puking after saying that.
How can PR people do what they do?

BTW - Does anyone know of the next big CRPG that will allow Modding like Skyrim? My next planned purchase is DAI, but it may not have a toolkit, mods, etc.  Thanks!

Witcher 3 and whatever Bethesda is working on right now. DAI is not likely to have mod support.

As for cheats, that's just what people call them, it doesn't have a perjorative meaning unless you're the competitive sort or don't know anything about modding a game and are trying to disparage it. The latter being jealous console users. :)

I've used the developer console to fix glitches, that's all. Namely that annoying bug where your eyes start to glow after fighting draugr.

They've been to the Big MT, and had their hearts, spines, and brains removed by the Think Tank. That has got to be it. Dang lobotomites.

But yeah, I have no idea.

That's better than what happens on xbox - sometimes if you're in the midst of Dawnguard, and have Serana with you, you magically morph into a vampire. Even if you're a werewolf. Well, unless they've fixed it. Terribly frustrating, though, when the screen turns red, and gives you a message about feeding. Dammit, I'm supposed to be immune to disease!

Jealous console users? Ouch. Image IPB

They definitely had time for 1 more big DLC, their loss more than mine.

Hoping that SkyWind will be reason enough to keep my copy installed, as I never played the original.

Yes, it felt very unfulfilling when I originally heard there would be no more DLC. No conclusion or closure to the story of the Dragonborn. I stopped for months - only got back recently. You're right about the rewards. My Telvanni went to Solstheim fairly early on (before encountering the dragons, at least) to take advantage of the Black Books and the robes of his House, and I'm thinking about having my warrior head there fairly early to get the Bonemold armor.

No eye glow for me; just those eerie mannequins that move about when I rest.

As for RPG's, guess I will try and play some older games missed while playing NWN. Thanks!

It was kind of the same story with Morrowind. Bloodmoon didn't leave a sense of closure either.

Shivering Isles, though, was a brilliant ending to TES IV.

I'm definitely looking forward to it. I tried to play Morrowind, but my eyes kept bleeding. Its just way too dated for me. So, this is my opportunity to experience it. As I understand it, all that is required are full, legit copies of Morrowind and Skyrim.

The team says they'll be working on Oblivion afterwards. If I haven't said it before, the modding community never ceases to amaze me.

Now way I'll ever uninstall Skyrim.

AFAIK, this is only a vast mod; not an indie game, and would not apparently be qualified for that title. However, it should garnish huge recognition IF Bethesda grant's an Official blessing.

They won't, take Tale of Two Wastelands, for example, a mod that might be just as complex or more complex than Skywind, and they haven't said a thing. Probably because these mods are in a grey area, when it comes to the legal stuff.

It may not be a game, but this is certainly better than a lot of the crap that is out there, probably better programmed than many other games too, especially since such an endeavor would require that they be very careful with what they do.

Exactly. Skyrim is amazing just as it is.

Sometimes I think having the ability to cheat via mods or use exploits would be too much of a temptation (at least for me). You know, the whole 'absolute power corrupts absolutely' thing. It would be pretty easy to reason that something isn't cheating if you believe it to (not) be.

It's one reason I've been dragging my feet on getting a gaming pc. I just...I don't know if I can trust myself to not be a weenie.

Well from my experience you start feeling stupid and eventually quit on cheating, but sometimes there are some annoyances you'd like to avoid and just resort to it, anyway.

Skyrim really is a great game, and it still surprises me. I used Ahzidal's Ring of Arcana for the first time yesterday, and it seems to work fairly well for my Telvanni. Low cost, works well in multiple hits as it stacks with each progressive hit on a target. The tie Ahzidal has with Saarthal and Ysgramor interests me as well, since it ties with Tsun's comments about how early Nords accepted the Clever Craft, unlike modern Nords like Kodlak and Farkas, who seem to have disdain for it. Thinking about wielding Ahzidal's armor; might make things different.

His ring of Necromancy + Ritual Stone = Tons of fun for a necromancer.

Without getting into another debate on the improbability of cheating a solo game, many mods are created to add more details to Skyrim rather than ease rule restrictions. The beauty of a mod like Frostfall or Deadly Dragons is that they are highly configurable to the Player's vision; not only the mod author's. These are the types of mods that get high praise from me, as far as those dealing with immersion.

Still, my fave mod is still Climates of Tamriel; a lighting and weather mod that intensifies and focuses on the beauty found in Skyrim. My new wallpapers are made with them as a main factor in their production.

^ That stuff I could probably get behind.

The ones that I see that make me scratch my head are the appearance mods. Some of the hair mods are kinda...well, ugly, imho. I like my DBs to be rugged and a little dirty; it's more believable, considering the environment. I mean, I DO like to make my DBs pretty, but there's a line in the sand for me, for what is too much. Looking like a model, with flowing, perfect hair is past that line.
