However, I am interested in what ideas you have for the next game in the main series.
If you have any ideas, post them on this thread.

LOL I'm pretty sure the Modding tools are a little bit more than just "fluff to get some sales". And If I had more time tonight I'd search and link us to some of the countless interviews with Todd Howard where he flat out says that his games are meant to be modded, and that fan mods are one of the Pillars of the elder scrolls franchise.Myrkale wrote...

You're still missing a major major MAJOR part of the true Skyrim experience by not having access to any of those rare *gems* in the vault.
The "true" Skyrim experience is the one Bethesda half hazardly developed and sold to us. Anything else is just fluff that the developers hope will keep people interested in buying their game.
But for now, how about some actual physical evidence? In January of 2012, the Creation Kit was released. Shortly thereafter, modders began putting out House building mods. Then later.... much later, Bethesda released Hearthfire. This was no coincidence. Bethesda's mindset was that Modders were on to something... something very much True to the company's own vision of the game.
But all of this is peripheral. Bethesda's worlds are meant to be modded. The two concepts: Game + Mods, have always been what the ES games are.
Here we go, Todd Howard on modding:

Finally entered Whiterun. It was a pretty long journey though! Started off in Falkreath, became Thane and hung around for a bit before moving northwards to Morthal. Became Thane in Morthal and helped them with their vampire problem before moving further north to Solitude. Did a few quests, including the first Potema one and the one where we get to meet an old friend before deciding to move on when I got the quest to bring Torygg's horn to the Talos Shrine. After that I moved east towards Dawnstar, helped them with their nightmare problems and mined for a bit, took on a few quests. I decided to head off to Whiterun after completing one of those quests (the void salts, the cave was near Morthal).
I entered Whiterun recently, too. My Telvanni originally headed to Winterhold, and then made his way across Stormcloak territory to fund his magical research, and eventually headed to Solstheim. It was only after becoming a Vampire Lord and dealing with the thin-bloods in Morthal that he went to Whiterun. I envisioned it as a 'Rise of House Telvanni' type of run. What type of protagonist is your Dragonborn?

This of course includes various forts and the like in between. Always make sure to get some sleep at night (or later in the day for a longer time if I wind up in a combat zone for too long), haha.
Before making it to Whiterun, I stumbled upon Rorikstead. Something is definitely odd about that town. Especially considering Rorik's bedfellow and his response to the 'secret' question about the crops and the like. It was an innocent question but his response is just like, "Secret? What secret!? Why would we have a secret!?"
If you listen to the conversation Jouane has with Sissel, you get an idea as to what's allowing them to have such a plentiful harvest every year.

Also, has Dawnguard so vampires are more obvious? The mage from the Solitude court and that duo at the mill near Falkreath had the demonic eyes going on. Alva looked normal though so it's not for all.
The conclusion we came to in this thread is that it likely has to do with the protagonist having an Aedric soul, so the Dragonborn sees them in a way only a few others might - like Falion and fellow vampires.

Someone who would mostly fall on the paragon side of things while taking a very mercenary approach to a lot of issues. Not very sentimental due to past experiences but not without feeling either. Basically one searching for his place in the world.LobselVith8 wrote...

I've got him loaded with some classic Redguard biases. Doesn't like Conjuration or Illusion magic. Completely mistrustful of the Empire and most Mer. Disgusted by vampires and various other undead.
Ah, so it's just magic? Seems a lot more innocent than some of the scenarios running through my head. Is magic that powerful enough that it can cause significant impact on soil and the like for many years?LobselVith8 wrote...

That's interesting I suppose. A bit abstract but I guess it works. I wish there was a way to confront them about it. At least some of them.LobselVith8 wrote...

I think Bethesda wanted cooler looking vampires for Dawnguard.
Then they seem to have failed...again.

You do what everyone else does. You put it in your yard, then you wait. Neighbors/travelers/worshipers will then stop by and drop clothing, weapons, flowers and pocket change at its base.

Interesting. Is your Redguard a character who fought in the Great War? Did the WGC play a role in his decision to head to Skyrim?

Magic can be extremely powerful in Nirn. However, it's distrusted by some after the Oblivion Crisis, and the rise of the Dominion, many of whom are magic users.

That would've been interesting. I would have loved to discuss vampirism with fellow Volkihar Babette and Sybille.

Sybille Stentor has the same appearance as other Volkihar (with glowing eyes), and Babette hasn't transformed permanently like Vicente Valtieri did after 300 years of vampirism. It's mainly a guess.

I don't think they are, I believe Volkihar refers to Harkon and his people, other vampires are just that "other vampires". Unless they had some sort of connection with Harkon which I doubt, if Sybille Stentor had any connection with him, she probably wouldn't be alive in Solitude, or even present in the Blue Palace for that matter.
Someone must have messed up with something, what a Volkihar vampire is exactly wasn't made clear. I assume it refers to Harkon. No other reason to call it castle volkihar then.

I think the Dawnguard DLC made all vampires have those eyes; it doesn't seem specific to Volkihars. Hern and Hert have them, as well as pretty much every other vampire you see in the game. Babette might not have them, because she has a child body model (?). Or it's an oversight. Who knows.LobselVith8 wrote...

Back on point, I agree, though - I would have loved to have had extra content with DG, to chat about vampirism with known vampires.

I don't think being "thin bloods" negates their nature as Volkihar vampires. The protagonist can become Volkihar, even though the Dragonborn is regarded as a halfbreed by Valerica. We also have Vingalmo talking about how some who receive the Gift can't handle it, and are essentially the ones we encounter in the wilds - however, he doesn't regard them as being from a different Clan or anything like that.
