@AstusOz - I don't know if it's a hard-and-fast rule that fast traveling triggers vampire attacks, but it seems that way to me. And you're right, it's definitely unsettling. Once you reach level 10, you're kind of pushed in the direction of resolving the vampire menace, whether you want to, or not.

Most of the time, you just have to be vigilant when you're in town. If you keep your eyes and ears open, and can get to it in time, you can usually prevent NPC deaths. Although admittedly, I've lost a few...like that Windhelm incident. It's usually the beggars that get it first.

So have you been to Fort Dawnguard yet? When you do, be sure to explore it, as you'll find lots of good loot. There will be (a lot) more opportunities when you progress further through the quest line.

I've explored a bit of the castle. Got pretty excited when I saw the huskies. It may or may not have led to some incoherent babbling. <3

Otherwise I've been concerned with completing the questline ASAP. Currently at the point where I have to find the Nord hunter dude and Breton obsessed with the Dwemer. I've found the former and just have to go after the latter.

I regret not clearing a few more ruins while I had Serana though. She was surprisingly capable. It was good because I had Rayya with me too and the two of them seemed to steamroll everything. That was until we reached Kvennel in Volunruud and it got pretty frantic. Died a couple of times and defeating him included a lot of potions and a staff I had that allowed me to summon familiars. I'd use that time to send out a burst of flames. Rinse and repeat. Serena and Rayya ended up on one knee a few times during that fight. They'd come, take some health of him, give me time to burn him and then get hit.

There's an area inside Fort Dawnguard that you can get to, called Dead Drop Falls. It's very close to where the huskies are (same room, just head to the back, to the right of the dummies). I always go in there, to pick up exploding crossbow bolts, and I think it's a pretty cool place. No enemies; just some puzzles to solve, and loot to pick up. Your follower will go inside with you, but when you jump down, they'll stay put, until you get back to the entrance.

You'll have another opportunity later to have Serana + another follower, if you remember to pick up your follower, and come back. Aww, rats. Without completely spoiling it, I can't tell you much more.

The Nord and Breton you're looking for are pretty cool. I always wished I could bring Gunmar along as a follower.

I enjoy the DG alchemist when he arrives; rather humorous. And be sure to simply stand around the NPC's for a bit to hear their varied banter; for info and the laughs.

Also, there is at least one more cavern in the DG areas, so exploration is recommended. And if one uses too much Fast Travel, they can miss some minor encounters near the Fort.

^ I know there's a cave outside Fort Dawnguard, that has bears in it. Are there others, too? I haven't spent as much time dinking around in that area as I should.

Florentius is great. Posted Image

Uncertain due to poor memory, but I seemed to recall there being three cave systems, though two could be connected. Also, I have not used a Husky or a troll as a follower; options abound!

I also recommend that a Player decide whether to obtain and use a crossbow early after joining; can save some boot leather if one chooses to skip quests. Same could be said for other related gear.

Fantastic, I never paid much attention to that cave!

I would. But I really wouldn't want to get you something so "flawed." You might start falling into the often seen and inexplicable behavior of bemoaning how terrible it is, all the while racking up hundreds of hours playing it. Next thing you know, you're using terms like "extremist" or "fanatic."

No...just no.Posted Image

I Posted Image this thread.

And thanks for the laugh! I had to do a, 'No, I'm not sitting here goofing off while I'm supposed to be working' number, but it was worth it. Posted Image

Wow, that Anthology sounds sweet. But I imagine it's only for PC, since it comes with Arena and Daggerfall, which were PC exclusives.

Maybe they'll find a way to get the other into consoles. I mean Doom was mainly a PC game, and eventually they put it into consoles. through several different games.

Explore Dead Drop Falls. I don't do archery very much, but the exploding crossbow bolts are fun to use!

Yeah, but the relevant question is:  Can they do it in time for Christmas delivery?

Definitely fun. Whenever I use them, and my hubs is watching me play, he calls it my 'drone strike'.
:P

In my last run, I made a point of getting all the schematics, so I could craft my own. Plus, the Dwarven Enhanced Crossbow is nice.

Yep.  That guy is good.   Still waiting for Part 2, where he improves it to Legendary.

I found that place but walked past because I wasn't in the mood for any dungeon crawling, lol. I'll definitely check it out next. That's good to hear! I liked her, even if she was a vampire (hopefully there's a way to rectify that).

I need to sell more of my loot. Are there any merchants with a lot of gold? So far I've found ones hovering between 500 to a bit above a 1000.

You need to join the Thieves guild and do 5 random missions in each hold. Then you unlock a special mission, which will add more merchants to the Thieves guild and increase the fences' gold up to 4000.

Thanks for the info but this isn't a character I'll be having join the TG.

Playing on 360. Plus, I like my merchants the way they are. No need for sexy pushovers. :P
