It wont run well on my lappy and I prefer console gaming over mouse and keyboard. Although not having the toolkit is a a real downer.

What platform are people looking at buying Skyrim on?
I've played previous ES games on PC but looking at getting Skyrim on Xbox cause I don't know how well my PC will run it. I've got a friend who thinks getting it on PC would be better for mods that the player community come up with.
What does everyone else think?
Got to be PC for the mods, I don't have an xbox or PS3 but even if I did I'd still get a game like this on PC.

Even if I had a top of the range PC, I'm too attached to my controller and sofa.

I'll be getting it on the 360 for sure, my PC is ancient and will probably explode if I put monopoly in the tray, so I don't want to know what will happen if I put Skyrim in.

I also game on my sofa, with laptop connected to 1080p projector via HDMI cable.
I believe you can use a 360 USB controller for most PC games; however, I use wireless NumPad and mouse. Maybe I should try a controller.

LMAO! Well now might I ask what Windows version your running? Or are you running DOS?<LOL> I've got the computer hooked up to the 47 inch t.v and sit on my couch using the wireless keyboard and mouse. Modern technology is so great.G>
Naughty I didn't think that the graphics cards in the laptops were good enough to run games like Oblivion and Skyrim. I've yet to try a controller might have to one day. I know that Logitech has a wireless one I've thought about trying.

360 for me. I gave up on PC gaming, it was more headache and hassle than it was worth. Although console gaming is starting to go down that path too.
Will have to admit that I've never played the newer consoles for which are out these days. I figure why put the money out for one when the games for which I like to play are on the Pc anyway.<G>

LOL same here - the last console game I played was probably 8-bit legend of zelda more than 20 years ago.

I never had a great love of PC gaming to begin with, keyboard and mouse never felt comfortable to me. Well mouse did, keyboard didn't. I used to put up with it for the sake of good games but then all the installing, updating, crashing, figuring out why it crashed, fixing that, finding something else still isn't working, downloading another patch, installing that, realising that I had to install that first, un-installing the game, re-installing, installing the patches in the right order, starting the game, playing for 10 minutes, crashing to windows, going on a murder spree. It got kinda old. Obviously thats a ridiculously extreme example but my attempts a couple of months ago to play The Witcher just reminded me why I gave up on PC gaming. Now I only really play BG2 and Football Manager on my laptop. Plus my back currently doesn't lend itself to sitting in a position to make keyboard and mouse a viable option.naughty99 wrote...

I liked the simplicity of buying a game, sticking it in the xbox and away I go. Now I've to install it because it runs quieter and faster, download day one patches to fix things aswell as whatever incentives were dangled infront of me to pre-order and if they are really feeling like annoying me forcing me to agree to some EULA before I can play the game I just bought. Its not that big a hassle at the minute but there will come a day when I can't play the game I just bought because my internet is out.
I can't imagine playing Skyrim any other way than laid back on my bed perfectly relaxed with my controller and some juice to keep me fueled.

I don't mean to offend those who enjoy such things in games (ok, maybe a little =p), but I believe everybody would be happier if the more "eastern" mods were given their own category on the Nexus site.

Now that I own a real rig, I am seriously considering purchasing Skyrim for the PC. HOWEVER one thing about the PC version of Oblivion drove me absolutely mad (even though its not really the games fault) - sifting through all that anime, half-naked lore-breaking crap that plagues TES Nexus to find decent mods. <_<

There are dozens of excellent lists compiling great mods for each category and several very active communities where you can ask for recommendations about the specific type of mod you are looking for.
On TES nexus, I believe there are tens of thousands of Oblivion mods, so it's not exactly convenient to simply do a keyword search.

Dunstan I figure you were but couldn't resist messing with you about still running DOS.<LOL>
BTW# just got in from running some errands and stopped at my local GameStop where I buy my games to pay for it. I asked him about a midnight release for the game on the 10th and he said that they are having a midnight release for it. He looked it up for me and said so far for all version of the game he's got 1,000 pre-orders and thats not counting thos that ordered the Anniversary Ed. And to think that was just at one store.<G>

That's amazing! I wonder how many preorders there are at "my" game shop (and if the fact that you can win a 2m tall and 50 kg heavy dragonborn statue boosted the sales)?
While we're at it, would anyone here want a life-size dragonborn statue if I am the "lucky" winner?
I will play Skyrim on my ps3. I dont' think my computer can handle it since I played Dragon Age 2 on low graphic settings. If I like it I will probably buy it for PC too when I get a new computer.

I have a question about the spell Circle of Protection. Is this spell basically a shield, I'd does it do damage as well? What exactly is this spell? In the demo it looked like Draugr wanted nothing to do with it...
The spell cast in the E3 demo was Turn Undead IIRC. It made the Draugr run away.
I don't think we've seen any footage showing how Circle of Protection works, exactly. There is a separate Shield spell that creates a directional barrier that drains Magicka while you hold it in place.

It seems so far Skyrim has about 500,000 pre-orders for Xbox and PS3. I'm surprised that it is so much higher than the pre-orders for RAGE, even though RAGE will be released much sooner.

No idea what the pre-orders for PC retail and PC digital download might be.
Good luck with that statue
I'm sure you can find a buyer on ebay if you win it.
