I've finally gone back to Skyrim. I STILL need to play the Dragonborn DLC. It's ridiculous. I think my demonhuntress will be the first to go there, but right now she has just started the Dawnguard questline.

I've also been playing my Volkihar vampire quite a bit. I had a few screenshots, but for some unknown reason Skyrim overwrites previous screenshots when I've closed the game and start it again later. Aaand I've made a few more characters. A khajiiti mage, who's supposed to be the female equivalent of J'zargo, and an orc shaman type. All still level 1, haha.

Nice screenies, but J'Zargo is too good of a mage to have ever been level 1 :wizard:

LOL, true. J'zargo probably starts at level 50.

I have run into a very stupid bug: I can no longer absorb dragon souls. I've read that Miraak sometimes appears and steals them from you, but that's not the case here. No Miraak, no soul absorption whatsoever. Just a dead dragon lying on the ground and not changing into a skeleton. I googled the problem and it seems it's a bug introduced with the Dragonborn DLC, but I haven't found a solution yet. I already have the Unofficial Patches, and I tried a mod that promised to fix the script bug Dragonborn caused, but it didn't work. Blehh.

That bug was actually caused by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.  Try uninstall/re-install the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch and make sure it's the last Unofficial Patch in your load order.  I had that same issue and that's what fixed it.

Funny thing is, I waited so long for that damn DLC, all my characters had more than enough souls to unlock the shouts.  I just ignored the bug till I started a new playthrough.

Hi folks could use some help on the Boethiah daedric quest. Now I know you have to take one of your hirelings, followers etc. up there to her shrine click on them and tell them you want them to do something. and click on what you want them to do.

Now I've tried several different hirelings a couple of my housecarls. We go to the shrine and I can get them to more on to the round dias or circle deal that lights up. but when I click on the altar post thing that is sticking up in the center they say is "Ok got it" and nothing. Now does the one for which I want to use for that have to have done a few quest with me? I'm running through the game solo as I'm running a female assassin/thief.

Any help with this one would be appreciated.

Im home.

Redneck1st, it sounds like one of those que glitches in the game. Sometimes when I mine for ore, it takes a few seconds for it to register or when I finish dialogue.

You just have to wait unti the game catches up with your decision. Theres some odd glitches in the game.
If you like mods, go to Skyrim nexus and download the unofficial patch.

Are the people you've tried essential? I think it doesn't work if they are.

I'm beginning to think that patch is more trouble than it is worth.  I think that patch also removes corpses for the kind intention of helping us poor peasants with the problem of "save bloat."  Now that I've had an entire playthrough recorded with my Desdenova dragonborn, I will tell you there's a good 25-30% of corpses that go unlooted because the bodies disappear *during* the battle.  So, yeah, if you don't loot them as soon as they fall, they will go *poof*.  And if you are a necromancer...that's apparently too bad.

And then there is the whole necromage change...

the only essential follower is Mjoll. His housecarls are sacrificable.

Wait.

You're trying to sacrifice your housecarls? By the nine, why would you do that? Posted Image

I'd recommend using a hired mercenary, or someone you don't like. Keep your housecarls; they really do protect your stuff! That said, there are a couple followers that can't die: Mjoll, Serana...there may be more. Anyway, whatever you do, don't kill Belrand. That old coot is a good fighter, and was the only Spellsword follower in the game (although I'm not sure if Teldryn Sero is considered as such?)

Anyway, back to that quest. Once your follower is on the altar, are you stabby-stabbing them with a Blade of Sacrifice? If not, you need to pick one up and stab them with it, or the quest will not trigger. You can find several near the shrine.

To answer your other question, no, you don't have to do quests with them. If they're willing to follow you, that's good enough for Boethiah.

^^ Desdenova had to dismiss Belrand. Their whole relationship consisted of:

"Speak Elf."
"Silence Human."

"What do you want little elf?"
"Who are you calling little, shorty?"

But poor Belrand now just drinks his sorrows away at the Winking Skeever. Teldryn Sero has taken over as my DB's sidekick, because he's just that awesome.

Load order helps; I've had no issues since the unofficial patches were updated after Dragonborn was released. (Before they were, I was also unable to absorb dragon souls, despite not advancing the DB quest so Miraak could do anything.) I kill stuff and the corpses stick around for quite awhile; then again I play with game speed set so a game day takes 12 hours real time, so things are more lifelike.

 Images!

I have been murdered in cold blood...by Serana.

I'm clearing out my quest list, it's massive and I need to get it wittled down a bit. So I was doing the Hitting the Books quest and went to Fellglow Keep. Entered the dungeons and found vampires, I released them and they battled the mages for me, all good. I wander on a bit and find a man named Orthel(Ortho? Orthodontist? Orth something or other), I hit the switches to release him and the wolves. He begins speaking to me and suddenly all hell breaks loose, he runs away without finishing his sentence and there's a magic battle erupting around me. I genuinely have no idea what happened, I killed someone or other with my bow. Then it was just me, Orthel and Serana and the fight was STILL going on. They were firing at each other, next thing I know Orthell is dead and she has turned her ire on me, I put my bow away, but given my weakness to magic I was dead in seconds anyway, she just kept firing. I think the mad b*tch killed Meeko too, I have no idea what triggered it, I didn't attack her at all.

Well it wasn't an intentional that I wanted to use one of my housecarls. you see I tried 3 different hirelings as well as for the one the cannibal lady from the "Taste of Death" quest. I figured I'd sacrifice one daedra worshiper to another daedra prince<ss> but it wouldn't work that way either.

As for the  un-official patch it looks like allot to go through to install it and I've got over 80 mods installed.<G>

Will BOSS work within Steam as that's the only place for which I've gotten any mods or installed them from. I figured that everything as far as sort order and such was handled through the Steam system.  Does Gopher have it posted here?

Here is a link to the BOSS vid:

And it does work on all Plug-Ins that are included in the BOSS master list.

You can also set the follower to non-essential in case one of your mods made it essential.  Or you can advance the quest one step instead of going through all those mods.
