That bug was actually caused by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.  Try uninstall/re-install the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch and make sure it's the last Unofficial Patch in your load order.  I had that same issue and that's what fixed it.

Funny thing is, I waited so long for that damn DLC, all my characters had more than enough souls to unlock the shouts.  I just ignored the bug till I started a new playthrough.

It's not the Unofficial Patch in my case. It's the Dragonborn DLC. I checked my load order with BOSS when the problem occurred, and I noticed that I had actually not downloaded the unofficial patch for Dragonborn yet. Just for Dawnguard and Hearthfire (I think there's one for Hearthfire at least. I'm not sure). So I downloaded the patch, hoping that it would solve it, but no luck. Then I tried a mod that promised to solve the glitch, but it still didn't work. Now I have a work-around mod that gives you a power that lets you absorb a dragon soul if the game doesn't automaticcaly do it, but it's still annoying.

I'm beginning to think that patch is more trouble than it is worth.  I think that patch also removes corpses for the kind intention of helping us poor peasants with the problem of "save bloat."  Now that I've had an entire playthrough recorded with my Desdenova dragonborn, I will tell you there's a good 25-30% of corpses that go unlooted because the bodies disappear *during* the battle.  So, yeah, if you don't loot them as soon as they fall, they will go *poof*.  And if you are a necromancer...that's apparently too bad.

And then there is the whole necromage change...

I've never had that problem. Is the removal of corpses introduced in the Dragonborn patch? Otherwise it must be something else, because I've been playing with the other unofficial patches for a long time and I've never had unlooted corpses disappear on me.

The change of the necromage perk is stupid, though. So I downloaded another mod that reverts the change, so that if I ever get my vampires up to such a high restoration level, I can reap the benefits.:wizard:

^^ It's subtle. Not all the corpses disappear, just some of them. I don't use many other mods and those are mostly cosmetic.  I do remember reading something about the patch helping with "save bloat" so that's why I think it is the culprit :police:

But it definitely happens: youtu.be/14In_F5WyyQ#t=16m9s

Now that will get me past the part of killing a follower @ her shrine and give me the next objective in the quest correct?

Perhaps those cosmetic mods are the culprit, and bodies are being placed under the meshes and textures. This happened to me on Solstheim recently, as the Reavers on the beached shipwreck would die under the visible flooring on the deck.

Well as for me I've yet to get to Solstheim or play through the other DLC only one for which I've touched on so far was Hearthfire. Just got the DLCs and it's my first play through with them., Now I've got a Crossbow for the vamps quest as I did join that there. But I thought that we could make our own?

Nah.  It's stuff like making some of the guards women in Milk-Drinking holds that are aligned with the Empire and the metal veins glow.  The corpses are disappearing, not being hidden under something.

Perhaps mods that add additional population and NPC's are respawning too quickly; could re-check all time settings. Or maybe the game simply detects the inaccurate view against the Empire, and does not wish to fund another traitorous Stormcloak....

You will gain the desired Smithing information as you progress the DG faction quest-line.

@ Joy Division
Desdenova.

What does that name mean?
Does it have some high significance among the Altmer (High Elves)?

^^ Desdenova does not have any significance regarding the Elder Scrolls.

But the name does represent something. It comes from a (awesome) Blue Oyster Cult song Astronomy. Lyrics are:

Clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Like acid and oil on a madman's face
His reason tends to fly away
Like lesser birds on the four winds
Like silver scrapes in may
And now the sand's become a crust
Most of you have gone away

Come susie dear, let's take a walk
Just out there upon the beach
I know you'll soon be married
And you'll want to know where winds come from
Well it's never said at all
On the map that carrie reads
Behind the clock back there you know
At the four winds bar

Hey! hey! hey! hey!

Four winds at the four winds bar
Two doors locked and windows barred
One door to let to take you in
The other one just mirrors it

Hey! hey! hey! hey!

Hellish glare and inference
The other one's a duplicate
The queenly flux, eternal light
Or the light that never warms
Yes the light that never, never warms
Or the light that never
Never warms
Never warms
Never warms

The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Miss carrie nurse and susie dear
Would find themselves at four winds bar

It's the nexus of the crisis
And the origin of storms
Just the place to hopelessly
Encounter time and then came me

Hey!hey! hey! hey!

Call me Desdenova
Eternal light
These gravely digs of mine
Will surely prove a sight
And don't forget my dog
Fixed and consequent

Astronomy...a star

Mostly I use it because it sounds cool and I like Blue Osyter Cult.

Ok I see now how the DA02 was obtained but what about the digits after it. For example the 15 in setstage da02 15 where would I find number to advance it even more?

Ok folks refresh my memory here Ulfric is on the side of the Storm Cloaks. Who is kissing up to them low life Thalmor that think that they are to good for everyone is that the Imperials?

You see I'm running through the game currently with a female high elf thief/assassin whose parents were killed by the Thalmor. So needless to say she's got a very strong hatred for them because of this here.

I was hoping that one of the DLCs which came out would have allowed us to take out the Thalmor once and for all but alas I see this wasn't the case as of yet.<LOL>

None on the major NPCs side with the Thalmor. The Imperials do allow the Thalmor to arrest, torture, and execute their own citizens, but that is more because they are milk-drinkers than because they like the Thalmor.

The mod "Cutting Room Floor" included official content that did not make it into release, has more Thalmor to eradicate. Just be aware that the mod should remain installed, but I have not seen cause for deleting it from my game. Some content is not that great (may include a scene outside the stables in Whiterun mentioning Cicero and the broken wagon; better left finding it on your own), but overall I have enjoyed the small inclusions.

Nobody likes the Thalmor, but the Empire honors the treaty that ended the last war. And Ulfric is a tool used by them to continue the current Civil War.

Well now don't make my decision any easier on which side to go with sure would have been easier if they had given us a cut and dry decision. But I think that with this one through I'll side with the Imperials and see how things go. One thing for which I wish they allowed for is that you could Name your own saves in the game. Sure would have made things a little easier.

It is not supposed to be easy. But I recommend making your decisions based on discovered In Game info rather than walkthroughs or tips; makes the playthrough memorable based on the character.

My last Altmer started as a Thalmor plant, but when he discovered the dishonor on display in the higher ranks, he chose to oppose them.

But one can make saves on the PC version; is how I was able to alter past decisions. While the name simply is labeled by location, I usually make key saves at key locations that are easy to ID.
