But don't you think thats *supposed* to happen?
Why would there be a Dawnguard if the vampires never killed a single person in Skyrim? Why would the guards make comments like "these vampires a becoming a real menace" if they worst thing they had to deal with was petty thievery? Why would the townsfolk and travelers be so concerned about the dragons if their daily routines were unspoiled? Why would the DB need to do anything if the Skyrim of tomorrow would be exactly like the Skyrim of today?
I'm not saying you shouldn't feel bad if an NPC you did a quest for gets killed by a dragon or something. But isn;t that part of the game...why Akatosh bestowed the gift upon you in the first place? So you can stop that from happening to other NPCs you like?
True, true. The game is being realistic. I am not denying that the massacure of the good (more or less) town's folk is not realistic. However, it is exhausting when a quest giver is hacked down right before you could get or complete a quest. I can appreciate the game's constant drive for carnage, but it is irritating sometimes. Realistically, the Dragon Born can be sick of people dying.
The world of Skyrim changed for me the moment I watched my favorite blacksmith die when she ran into the ravenous appetite of a lurking vampire. It was heart wrenching.

Tsk, people complaining about death by dragons and vampires. I recently
ran past one of the farms near Riften and heard a bear roar. I did not
feel like killing it, so I just kept walking. Then I realized I was
travelling the wrong way and turned around, again passing the farm. I
heard the bear again, but this time also a NPC shout "somebody do
something!". So I went to the Snowshod farm and saw that the bear was
standing in the middle of a field of crops. It had killed two of the
farmers (one added by Interesting NPCs) and the third was on his knees. I
saved the third farmer, but still thought that was rather tragic.
I seem to be the only bear magnet in my game. The town's people must be conspiring agianst me for not dying in any of the dragon and/ or vampire attacks. I don't know how they could could get the bears to attack only me, but somehow they did it. I could have also angered the bear gods.
