I agree about the costume play...and I friggin' hate costume play.

Just seems like the Skyrim fanatics tend to create and pull together costumes that have texture and detail, and an in-game look....not all of them of course. The ES fans appear to be more serious in their presentation than say...the Dragon Age nerds do.

Just my humble take as someone who'd rather extract one or two of his own teeth with a concrete chisel and maul hammer, than associate with anything considered "cosplay."

Cosplay

Hmm. Either I depend on my own non-existent costume crafting skills to produce something terrible or splash loads of money on a ready made costume.

I'll just admire the costume players then. They look awesome.

That's pretty much where I am Abraham. If they're truly good, I'm an admirer. The picture above is a good example of a quality costume that has a real Skyrim vibe. Most likely it was professionally designed and made, judging by the detail. It is infinitely better than some of the head desk-ing stuff I've accidentally exposed myself to watching a comic-con or E3 video. I understand people wanting to express their inner fan, but sometimes...just...wow.

I think my aversion comes from the whole iconic thing argued ad nauseum on these boards. But, I understand also that I might be in a severely outnumbered minority.

But the example above is something I can appreciate. Also, look at the sword and quiver to her left....excellent, even as props. While not exact, its close; and its clear that is a Daedric arrow quiver, which I see on my PCs back most of the time in third person. Definitely done well enough to be admired.

Yeah, that's the one thing I've been beeotching about since the beginning...not being able to destroy the Thieves Guild and Maven. Didn't know there was a mod for it. That's going on the must have list!

One time I fought a dragon, and the fight dragged me to another flying dragon. that was fun...

one time i was fighting a dragon while creeping on a giant, and i successfully slayed the dragon, but was promptly mauled by 4 mammoths

What I liked to do for fun when I was done with the Thieves Guild questline is start a commotion on the marketplace and then flee into the Thieves Guild HQ. Massive fights ensued.

I wrapped up Markarth side quests last night; three more cities then the side quests should be completed, and on to civil war!

Happy to report no quest glitches thus far, but will see how FSS Better Bards does when I get to Solitude. I meant to post some screenshots this weekend but a 3-day migraine kinda ruined that plan. I have a mod installed that makes elves look more like elves (http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/24273/?) and less like goblins, and couldn't take my eyes off the female thalmor guard in Understone Keep. She's perty with this mod.

I just got Coverwomen without all the make-up and lipstick ****. I think over all my characters, the only quest I never bothered to do was the Bard's College because by the time I get to it, I am level 50+ so the trainers are worthless.

me neither. I think I was actually level 60. When I first arrived at Solitude I was probably only level 20, but I forgot that quest. It just doesn't sounds interesting at all.  Neither did the thieves guild or Winterhold. I did find the Dark Brotherhood very interesting though.

Reading the last page makes me want to play Skyrim on PC even more. On PS3 every time you go into a room (and exit it) you have suffer through a 1 minute loading screen TWICE.

I want shorter loading screen dammit.

I do everything... but the Bard's College.

I used to play the PS3 version 'til I got it for PC.

Its a world different if you have a high end PC.

Having played me3 I fully believe that. Speaking of which y u no play ME3 on pc? I'd think the difference is even more pronounced. I'm just waiting for skyrim to be on sale at Steam to get it.

ME3 is not on Steam and Origin is a hunk of crap that I do not want on my PC.

Have you actually used any of the latest versions of Origin? It does its job, plain and simple. I was reluctant to install it at first due to all that debacle about privacy or whatever when it first launched.

Don't forget that when Steam first launched a decade ago there were people like you who hated the very idea of it. Origin has lots of flaws but it wasn't as big a piece of junk as steam was when it first launched. Now look at Steam, who hates steam nowadays? Not many I can tell you that. Origin, is far from perfect, and no where near as good as steam ( which had like an 8 year and thousands of games head start) but it's not a piece of crap.

I can safely say that Origin >>>>>>> the experience of playibg ME3 on ps3.

I never said I liked Steam. I do like the cheap games, Gmod, and TF2 but for me it is horribly slow.

Pls keep this on the proper topic: Skyrim or related posts.

No Snow Under The Roof; a new mod that tries to add more snowfall to rooftops and allows for less accumulation underneath the shelter. And I really like the way the mod author has tried to work with feedback and make this more believable and realistic. Gopher reviewed it twice recently; both as new and revised. Folks looking for improving visuals may wish to look into these, and this mod.

Re-Installed this about 2 weeks ago now, was determined to get a mage going this time, tried 3 times an failed 3 times lol, i just cant get into there magic system at all, im finding it, tbh i dont know how im finding it, dont know if its hard slow and frustrating or just plain boring.

First time i tried cloth/destruction/restoration with a lot of running around staying out of range an killing things, soon grew tired an frustrated

Second time i tried Heavy Armor/Destruction/Conjuration/Alteration, again frustration an i believe abit of boredom there

Third time i tried putting some magic mods in but jesus the amount of spells these things add is a no go for me, more spells for me doesnt equal better

So now i am just back to my usual i got 4 characters on the go a 2H nord male who go the route of companions/stormcloaks, a sword n board imperial going route of empire/companions, Archer going thieves guild and dual wield assassin going brotherhood.

Reason i got a few going at once is last few times i played skyrim i basically made 1 character an did everything on it, but for personal story of the pc sort of thing that just ends up being (for me anyhow) a whole load of conflicting mess, so now with hopefully last patch/dlc etc been out awhile im hoping all the mods ive picked have been fleshed out an well wont corrupt my saves etc or cause problems

Great game tbh, faults aside prob one of the best in a long while for myself

I've been using this mod for a week or two now. Works pretty good. There's no collision so you can't stand "on" the new snow; you stand "in" it instead. That's unpacked snow so I don't mind. The "swept" paths under awnings could be better looking, and I suspect the author may tweak them further; my first impression was of someone using the eraser tool in an image editing app.

For mages, I recommend mods like Balanced Magic and Ultimate Combat; believe both help scale the lesser spells as one gains levels. No new spells that I recall; only improved casting of some extant spells.

And I prefer Light and/ or Heavy armors for mages; not a fan of Alteration constantly being required.

I also am fond of Exalted Magic - Indefinite Buffs on Steam. This allows for DA type casting of some spells, so spamming is not as required. These reduce the mana pool while active, as opposed to constant spams.
