Want a quick levelling trick?
Get the Secret of Arcana from a Black Book.
Then use the Telekinesis and Detect Life spell at the same time in Riften.
Watch the Alteration levels roll right in! Kinda feels cheap but whatevs.

Typical. I was just saying to a friend that I haven't seen any significant bugs in skyrim for a long time, and one pops up.
I went into Gloombound Mine to get me some ebony ore, and all the ore lodes were "noclip", I could walk right through them, and if I bumped into a pickaxe that was resting on top of a lode it'd fall right through it.
I tried fast travelling to Embershard Mine and all the ore lodes there worked fine.
I rebooted the X-box without saving then I cleared the system cashe and deleted and re-installed the last title update, then tried loading up a old save game from 2011 and went back to Gloombound Mine.
Still no-clip on the ore lodes. ![]()
It would have to happen to the one decent ebony mine in the game. ![]()
If I want something I usually just console it.
Like one time I could not find the dude for Filial Bonds so i just consoled the quest over and left.
Freaking 1 hour search and nothing.
Screw you and the nix hound you rode in on!
Is it considered cheating that I got Miraak's Sword at 60+ so it was best sword and then spawned a second one in so I could continue to dual-wield the same sword?

It is a SP game so you can not really cheat.
I console added Whirlwind Cloak because I could not get its quest to trigger.
You may have mine; believe it may be the ugliest weapon in the game.

So? Has highest base DMG and the stamina drain makes is so easy to just sit there spamming power attacks. And plus when you swing it, it looks like a whip.
Ugliest weapon in the game is the Orc Warhammer IMHO

That's why I got a retexture for The Longhammer.
Do you have a stealthy character in mind?
Here is an interesting mod for you.
Mods are always too dark for my taste. I haven't known anyone to go spelunking without enough light to thoroughly light a room/cavern/hallway so we can see what's up and avoid bumping our heads on low rocks, etc. I modded my torch and candlelight spell to give me adequate lighting so I don't have to squint to see what I'm doing. I doubt NPCs inhabiting such places would sit around in darkness either; especially if reading. Very hard on the eyes after awhile. My two cents anyway.
Having fun in Solitude and starting the King Olaf burning tonight at dusk. After that I'm off to the thieves guild, then the DB, then the civil war. Having fun experiencing new content for a change, after numerous restarts for various technical reasons.

I use console command qasmoke at start of each play through tbh to get gear n weapons, reason i do that is i really despise my adventure level and my crafting level being the one thing, i prefer being able to level up things like alchemy/enchanting/smithing and not have them affect my adventure level.
Im also same as above poster, i really dislike how dark these enb's make things so i turn of all that dungeon total darkness stuff when installing them

Just some advice,
If you want to do the civil war, MAKE SURE you finish the Thieves Guild as one of the quests to become the master gets bugged if you finish the civil war, unless you don't care about using the console as you can just TP yourself there.
I always found it better to do things in this order:
First: Blood on the Ice
Second: DLCs/Side quests/Guilds
Third: Civil war
Forth: Main Story
This order IMHO makes sure that some quests don't get glitched or so that DLC things such as the vampire attacks don't kill off all the NPCs.
Thanks, I keep forgetting to mention DLC. That's pretty much the pattern I've followed, though I only recently did Blood on the Ice.
I started Dawnguard to get Serana but stopped after acquiring the last NPC for their crew because then the DLC starts to overlap the Dragon main quest. Because I play with 8-hour game days, vampire attacks are very infrequent.
Progressed the Dragon quest to the point of getting word wall locations from Arngeir, so now I only have six words left to learn (in addition to what Dragonborn provides); at this point dragons aren't spawning anywhere but near dragon shrines and exterior word walls, so towns are safe.
Have been going from town to town, etc., doing side/daedric quests. Did Companions, did Mage College. Did hold bounties.
Will do Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Dragonborn DLC before moving on with Civil War. Haven't had any bugged quests yet, but did have to use enableplayercontrols in a stuck cutscene during the dreamstride in Vaermina's corrupted skull quest.

My order is to do Blood on the Ice first as it is the most broken quest in the game and I like to have it done first. After that I work on Dawnguard as the vampire attacks are extremely annoying and I even had the gang of them wipe most of a town out at a higher level due to NPCs stupidity. Dragonborn is a little bit harder but if it is started and not finished, Miraak will steal precious dragon souls from you which can be a pain in the rear as well.
If you want to beat the Thieves Guild by becoming the master, you have to do contracts and one needs you to go into a house and steal something but after you finish the civil war, the house is not enterable.

That's what I like about modding, can get it to your own taste. Personally I prefer more darkness, makes the whole thing more immersive for me when there's not loads of unconvincing light around, but it doesn't always work out perfectly since the dungeons weren't designed with it in mind.

I have tried these things but it can't see anything at all and this is very important when you play with a bow.

Ah, apparently the unofficial patch fixed Blood on the Ice because even though I did it wrong, it still let me finish the quest. This is what happened: I started quest in graveyard, talked to everyone, looked for clues, wrongly (was half asleep by this time) concluded the court mage was the culprit. Quest ended. Or so I thought. The next night another girl was found dead; I talked to the guard and the quest was put back in my journal. I went to the jail to talk to the court mage who told me another attack was imminent; I found Calixto in the market and offed him. Turned the quest in to the guy in the palace. They rubbed my nose in the fact that I'd goofed up, but at least the murders were finally solved. ![]()
I spoiled myself on Miraak so I know I have to dust him before I go further in the dragon quest. Not a problem. I did have vampires wipe out several NPCs in Whiterun so I resurrected them afterward, though I still got a letter of inheritance for the one gal. haha.
And yeah I fully plan to finish everything not main-quest related prior to Civil War because I know that changes things quite a bit.
Thanks again for the tips. Pretty much confirms I'm on the right path.
Just remember, Miraak's sword has the highest base DMG if retrieved 60+. Of course you could do it at any level and just spawn in the 60+ version and remove your weaker one if your not afraid of the console.
I have tried these things but it can't see anything at all and this is very important when you play with a bow.
What I've got makes them darker (much easier to sneak) but not pitch black, so a bow is still usable. Think it was the RLO but I'd have to check. I've spent enough time underground that being able to see at all without any lights bugs me. Of course so do all the lights that have no good reason to be there (oddly enough Dwemer ruins seem to be the worst lit despite being the only ones that could sensibly have any light at all) but it seems to be one of those areas where my brain suspends disbelief for gameplay to be possible as long as the illusion doesn't go too far.
That said it's a while since I played and I've got a horrible feeling I turned it all off because I couldn't see well enough...
Nice start to the series. It looks like they plan on covering the main quest + Dragonborn.
Do you know when part 2 comes out?

Holy Sh*t! That was awesome.
I'm enjoying the thieves guild critical quests, but the jobs not so much because they're in random places which makes getting the city influence quests take longer than need be. Wish I could show a preference for a city to speed things along. Oh well.
So far the only glitched quest is the second one dealing with Potema; I've leveled several times in the great outdoors, and completed the first quest (cry wolf) but thus far the courier fails to appear. Ironically, a vampire attack in Solitude killed the elder San and a courier immediately showed up to give me inheritance papers but had nothing from Falk Firebeard. Oh well, not going to worry about one notoriously glitchy quest.
