Elder Scrolls V ending.

Spoiler

My thoughts:

Spoiler

The Aldmeri Dominion's success in Skyrim would depend on how the Dragonborn handled the civil war.

Personally I would prefer if the Dragonborn, who still lives and has many potential years of life remaining, spearheaded an assault on Summerset Isle (or conducted stealthy sabotage as a prelude to assault), etc. I doubt the dragons would get involved since this is beneath them.

On the modding side of things I finally got rid of ELFX because it was making too many interiors too dark for my liking. Want to do my own lighting mod anyway. Other than a few minor changes I haven't added other mods; game is pretty much how I like it now.

Thanks for the answers.

10 more questions.

  1. What would happen with all of the Dragons?

  2. Do they eventually retreat?

  3. So according to "It's a me, Parthannux"  and Ordaving  , most of the dragons are non hostile. Where are these non hostile dragons, and from which realm do they reside?

  4. Are there other Dragonborn? If you're the only one, why did Akatosh only bless you? Wouldn't it have made more sense to bless lots of fighters, wizards and rogues with the powers of the Dragonborn, then inform them that they have this power? If the one and only Dovahkiin is killed and Alduin isn't slain, doesn't that mean Tamriel and the rest of Nirn is ruined?

  5. Dragonrend (which basically translates to, "oi Dragon, stop flying around and face me!") is apparently the worst shout. The Grey Beards say that it the ultimate hatefilled shout. Yet there are more powerful shouts out there, not to mention more powerful magic. How is Dragonrend all that bad?

  6. The first time the Dragons came. What exactly did the Dragons get out of the Nords other than worship?

  7. Apparently the Nords were slaves to the Dragons. What services did they provide for the Dragons?

  8. When Elder Scrolls VI begins, will it be presumed that all the dragons have gone?

  9. Will there be the occasional dragon in ESVI as a challenging boss battle?

  10. Was the rest of Tamriel being attacked by the Dragons?

I'll take a stab at these (I'm not a big lore person)

1. That's up to them. I imagine they would go to remote places to do what dragons do; maybe to reflect, maybe to observe the world of men and women.

2. Retreat to where? See 1.

3. Only dragons sworn to Alduin were really hostile to the Dragonborn. Odahviing was on Alduin's side until you trapped him and convinced him that was a bad idea. He doesn't agree with Paarthurnax so I'm guessing the dragons would be solitary or group with like minds. As to where they do this; I'm not certain. Probably something like 1.

4. It seems there is only ever one official Dragonborn at a time. As to Akatosh's reasoning; maybe he wasn't thinking of an MMO when he conferred his blessing upon a single individual. Since the Dragonborn can't help but be successful (unless you play a no-death game where you restart upon dying) we never get to see what happens if the Dragonborn fails. I would guess the dragons under Alduin would destroy much of civilization across Nirn and enslave any survivors.

5. Dragonrend strips a dragon of it's freedom to fly, which is seen as a dark, insidious thing to do to any dragon. This shout was born from men, which adds further insult as it is not part of the 'natural' dragon tongue.

6. I'm not certain about this part of the lore. The dragons may have treated the world of men like we do when playing a game like Populous or Civilization. Something of a massive board game with many moving units to control.

7. See 6.

8. Perhaps, for convenience. One or more could appear for a quest but I imagine most would be conveniently out of sight. Depends also on what ES:VI focuses on.

9. See latter part of 8.

10. Unlikely; Alduin was resurrecting dead dragons from special burial mounds, a process that took time. Also, why spawn dragons in places the Dragonborn can't reach? (heh)

The Aldmeri Dominion is actually going to win in the end, according to Michael Kirkbride. So yay for Elven Supremacy!

I can answer only a few of your questions, being that many of your questions have unknown answers.

You are called the last dragon born, so I doubt there are any others. Wulfharth and Miraak are two previous Dragonborn that come to mind, and can you imagine a world full of them? That would be MADNESS to bless so many. Besides, the Divines have a very limited amount of power, unlike the Daedra, so I presume Akatosh can only bless one special mortal once every so often.

Alduin has ended many kalpas by literally eating the world, and likely would have done the same again if he hadn't been defeated.

Oh I remember that fight.

That was tough.

I used destruction runes, abused the "throw voice shout" and used loads of fireballs to take this one out.

The kiting around tactic worked quite nicely.

Took several attempts though.

This wasn't me. This was some other youtuber's experience against Arondil.

To kill Man is to reach Heaven, from where we came before the Doom Drum's iniquity. When we accomplish this, we can escape the mockery and long shame of the Material Prison.

To achieve this goal, we must:

1) Erase the Upstart Talos from the mythic. His presence fortifies the Wheel of the Convention, and binds our souls to this plane.

2) Remove Man not just from the world, but from the Pattern of Possibility, so that the very idea of them can be forgotten and thereby never again repeated.

3) With Talos and the Sons of Talos removed, the Dragon will become ours to unbind. The world of mortals will be over. The Dragon will uncoil his hold on the stagnancy of linear time and move as Free Serpent again, moving through the Aether without measure or burden, spilling time along the innumerable roads we once travelled. And with that we will regain the mantle of the imperishable spirit.

For the time being the Thalmor have failed. The Aldmeri Dominon hasn't, but the Thalmor certainly have. Their interference in the Skyrim civil war strengthened the role of the Missing God.

The Last Dragonborn takes part in several mythical enantiomorphs (The King and the Rebel). I'll give you examples of the most prominent. He fights and defeats Alduin with Paarthurnax as the Witness (who is the one who determines who is the Rebel and the King). The Last Dragonborn takes the role of the Witness between Tullius and Ulfric and he (or she) decides who is the King and the Rebel. And finally The Last Dragonborn fights Miraak which is Witnessed by Herma-Mora who again ultimately decides who is the King and Rebel.

The Last Dragonborn has become a God by reenacting Convention at least three times over. My hypothesis is that he replaces or reinforces Talos as the Missing God (Lorkhan/Sheor/Shor/Shezarr). The Thalmor should be p!ssed.

In the future they are hit by one of the Numidium's ancestro-scyths, destroying the possibility of their race, and releasing them back into the mantle of the imperishable spirit.... Not what I had in mind.

Watch this playlist.

I strongly recommend it.

Also this thread is so good it necros itself, without the need of Alduin.

A new Elder Scrolls will probably be made. But I doubt it will be any time soon. Definitely not before a new Fallout (or something else) comes out first.

I'm currently doing another playthrough and wanted to know if Bethesda is going to be doing a sequel to Skyrim?

Obviously I'm no clairvoyant but here are my predictions. (Please note that I might be wrong with all of the below predictions).

Now-2016: Zenimax will be focusing on trying to improve the experience of Elder Scrolls Online. The plans to make the game more enticing to both Elder Scrolls fans and MMO fans (this will be challenging). During this time Bethesda will not be releasing any new Elder Scrolls games.

Sometime in 2016: The next Fallout game will probably be released.

Sometime in 2017-2019: The next main series Elder Scrolls title will be released. This game will not be set in Morrowind, Cyrodiil or Skyrim. It will be set in one or more the following provinces: Hammerfell, High Rock & Orsinium, Elsweyr, Valenwood, Blackmash/Argonia or Summerset Isles. I doubt Akavir would be touched due to Bethesda wishing to keep the mystery alive.

So don't hold your breath for a Skyrim 2. There hasn't been an Oblivion 2 or a Morrowind 2 yet. It's uncertain if there will ever be an Elder Scrolls VI, though I think there will be.

A new Elder Scrolls will probably be made. But I doubt it will be any time soon. Definitely not before a new Fallout (or something else) comes out first.

Elder Scrolls and Fallout games are very, very ambitious games.

The time it takes for Bioware to produce 4-5 games is the time it takes Bethesda to produce a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Just to give you an idea, Elder Scrolls Daggerfall is arguably the largest RPG ever. It covers an area of half the United Kingdom.

Now whilst subsequent Elder Scrolls games haven't been quite as large (it is difficult to be that big and still be graphically up to date), they still cover massive areas.

Not only that but you have a lot to program: NPC's, quests, abilities, perk trees, character progression, storylines, dungeon design, lore, enemies, encounters etc.

There is so much that goes into an Elder Scrolls and Fallout game.

Either Bethesda takes the time to get it done right, or they simply don't bother making the game.

So another consideration is do the Bethesda team feel they have the inspiration to craft an Elder Scrolls game on par with the 5 magnificent previous entries?

If the answer to that question is no, then it is possible that the next game may not come out, EVER!

I hope that is not the case, though I'd rather the last ever Elder Scrolls was a fantastic entry like Skyrim than the last in a slew of rushed poorly crafted titles.

Is that you Pelinal? We've talked about this in therapy Pelinal! Massacring entire nations full of elves is very bad for your fragile mental state!

Well, I doubt it's actually going to happen. It isn't very likely that Bethesda will decide to follow what Michael Kirkbride writes, even though he's the mastermind behind allofthegood much of the Elder Scrolls lore. It would be an interesting change of pace though to have the elves prevailing over the humans for once.

Abraham, your timeline sounds just about right to me. Skyrim came out in what, 2011? Fallout 4 should be just around the corner.

While Skyrim is in my Top 10 CRPG's, I choose not to go back to lesser graphics and mechanics of the older TES titles. SkyWind is a planned exception, as the MW story is commonly held as the best, and this new DLC will allow the more advanced mechanics and FX to tell it. Sadly, I now wonder if it will cease to appear, as the Dev team seem to be having RL struggles with time and resources.

As for future TES titles, I try and stay alert to the news linked to Steam, but other Besthesda titles do not really interest me personally.
