Have you tried consulting Gopher?
Gopher is not just someone who reviews mods, he has made a few of his own.
He is very knowledgeable about this.

Just got the Nightingale gear with my wood elf, but his ears stick through the hood. :/ I'm searching for a fix but can't fight anything. Does anyone happen to know something? I had no problem with the Thieves Guild hood.
well making a duplicate cell fixed this, now all thats left are nav meshes, maybe some extra clutter

Enchant a vanilla hood with a similar enchantment? Or just go without a hood..?

Great! That's usually the only way to solve the issue and completely separate it from the vanilla cell, so you can edit anything as you see fit, and be 100% assured it will save properly for you. As you were mentioning quests and markers and such...those should all transfer seamlessly over into the duplicate cell. Hopefully they did.
If nav-meshing is something you're not familiar with, there are plenty of tutorials on youtube. It's not nearly as daunting as some make it out.
Anyway, glad it worked out for you.

You'll be extracting /data/armor/meshes/nightingale/m
Then replace the elf mesh (with ears pointing out) with human mesh (no ears)
Rename CowlM_0.nif and CowlM_1.nif to CowlElf_0.nif and CowlElf_1.nif
Put the new elf meshes in your data folder /data/armor/meshes/nightingale/m
oh great, i forgot to set ownership of my bed so now J'zargo is sleeping in it

I got it to work by using improved closefaced helmets instead of Nightingale with face. It seems the former mod is a little more thorough. Simply extracting and renaming any of the meshes didn't work.

How else can I see my elf's pretty blue eyes? ![]()
I think renaming the mesh didn't work because apparently the Nightingale hood "removes" the head, meaning it gets rid of your character's face altogether. That way they won't need different versions for the different races. Easy in one way, but if you want to see part of your character's face instead of a black hole with shiny eyes it takes more editing to get the face back in and not have clipping as a result. The first mod must have missed the detail of the Bosmer's eyes and just plopped the head of the non-beast races back in.

Ah Nightingale with face mod would override whatever changes made to extracted meshes. If you want to use Nightingale with face go into your data folder and try replacing the elf mesh with the human one as I described earlier.
^ One of the few times I prefer the vanilla version of an armor set
I have the urge to rant so I shall...This will be nothing new I'm sure, but I got done with a Skyrim binge so it's fresh on my mind...
I hate that the world BARELY reacts to the things you do in the game. Sure you'll get a cheers in passing say in you destroy the Dark brotherhood or defeating Alduin, but then you meet a guard who insults you like your a novice even though you can END THEM. What if I like the Thalmor and want to help them? Nope no option for that I have to be against them.
I encounter bandits who have no Idea who I am and even after shout. If they see me shout they should damn well know who I am and nine times out of ten they should be running for their lives. What if I want to root out crime if Riften? Nope! The Thieves Guild gets to linger and that harpy Maven Black-Briar gets to strut around like she owns the place. I dislike I cannot defy Molag-Bal and save the member of the Vigil of Stendar.
This is the problem that Elder Scrolls games have. I don't feel like I am the Dragonborn. Granted Bethesda never claimed Skyrim had any major degrees of choice so the opinions of our Character wouldn't match up with ours, but still it gets infuriating. I really hope come Elder Scrolls 6 we get to feel like we are making an impact on the world
End rant...

Yeah, and I tried that, but the mod too only gives me three cowl files that aren't separated by race. I checked Improved Closefaced Helmets that one does have separate .inf files for elf, orc, etc. So it would probably require further editing to change that mod specifically.
Your screenshot shows Nightingale Maskless, by the way.
Nightingale with a face does this:

I also have the maskless version and by the look of the files that one has different versions for different races as well, so I think that one shouldn't give any problems either. I haven't tried that one yet because it's not a default replacement and I need to find some void salts to smith it.
I know it's in this thread, but I cannot find it; How do I fix the stutter-lag?!? I have cleared the cache and de-activated auto-save. Please help!!

A small reactivity-related question: if you steal from people they might send a group of mercenaries after you to teach you a lesson. Does this happen only once? With my three thief characters they've only ever showed up while I was still a very low level, and they were always sent by the first person I stole something from. I'm now level 30, have restored the Guild to its former glory and stole plenty of things on the side, but still have only encountered the mercenaries once. I get the occasional assassin, but they seem to spawn even if your DB acts as a saint.

Is it possible to lower FX settings on the 360? If so, you could see if this helps.
C'mon man... you know that's not possible

Yeah I noticed the steam sale, for that price its a no brainer. Don't worry you can trust me, you won't regret it.
Do you know any good mods that add non-combat features to the game?
A few examples of the mods I'm talking about...
