Yeah I noticed the steam sale, for that price its a no brainer. Don't worry you can trust me, you won't regret it.

And my Nightingale finally looking as he should ![]()

Another interesting mod.
Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Playing unmodded for a bit since I always like to see a game in its original form. And ye gods..... the PC UI really is as bad as people said, it seems
Being able to see what active spells, potions, blessings I have on me. Sorting my items according to weight and value. I'll never play without SkyUI.
I was looking for a more challenging Alduin, this was far more than I expected
Another good one is Live Another Life so I don't have to play the Helgen tutorial every game.
I had to delete my Orc (blade) Samurai today. The stutter-frame-rate-lag-cluster effect became too much.

I was forced to DL Live Another Life, because I was evidently infected with the intro bug, and LAL was the only quick bypass to roll a new character. Having played it now, I much prefer it over the Helgen intro.
Also, SkyUI is a must. Vanilla UI is worse than awful.
What's the deal with these video intros to mods? A four minute video to deliver a few paragraphs of information always strikes me as a waste of my time.

What's the intro bug? I once had a glitch where my character kept "walking" while already ad the headman's block, so he wouldn't lie down to get his head chopped off, but reloading fixed that.

Almost the same bug, but your PC just stands there and is never called forward to the chopping block. Reloading doesn't fix it. I didn't want to wipe prior character saves, so I found Live Another Life and it bypassed Helgen.
Some are more informative than others. Prefer the ones that offer comparisons with Vanilla myself, at least for those mods where it applies.

I personally like all Dwemer Ruins. But if I had to choose, for me, easily its Blackreach...and probably by extension Alftand.
Also, Mzinchaleft gets an honorable mention because it was the first Dwemer Ruin I entered way back when to find Grimsever for Mjoll. Centurions...what can you say? They're awesome, and pretty much scared the s#!+ out of me the first time I encountered one. It was surreal. As a first Dwemer experience it was pure win.

ill take vanilla over SkyUI any day, its just so much easier to use and clutter free

I have new pc so decided to start all over with Skyrim. New installation, new mods with Mod Organizer, and yet I get frequent crashes. I don't get it. I followed the STEP guide, and only added an ENB mod and Automatic Variants as well.
Did you clean your game with TES5Edit?
If not, and you plan on doing so, I recommend watching this.

Just for the sake of making trouble, how do you folks feel about the relative power of magic -- or, rather, mages-- in the game? I'm giving a shot to playing a pure mage, but I'm considering going back to my old Morrowind strategy of relying on Bound weapons rather than Destruction spells. And maybe armor rather than robes, since reactivating defenses every few minutes is kinda tedious. (Maybe it's just that Lydia's obviously out-DPSing and out-tanking my PC unless I prop him up with Alchemy.)
It's meh in my experience. Your biggest problem will be armor, at least until you pump up your alteration skill enough to enchant armors as strong at magic as robes. I had fun specializing in summoning, using summon beasts as a distraction for my more mundane magics.
By far the most powerful (to the point of overpowered) build is a stealth build. When it's high enough you can basically attack enemies repeatedly without being spotted- which includes magic, with the silent casting perk from the illusion tree (which, with muffle and invisibility, also boosts stealth). Since it meshes well with the Thieves Guild questline, you'll also be richer earlier as well.
Get the backstab tree, though, and do the first quest of the Dark Brotherhood, and you'll have a x30 multiplier for knife attacks. That's a one hit kill for most kinds of enemies.
