*jaw drop* You can make them look like that?! I must have missed that one when I was perusing the screenshots  OMG Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for LOL Okay, I think I'm mostly ready to start playing modded Skyrim. Just need to purchase a PC controller and I'll be good to go. Oh, and I need to watch those "how to mod" videos >.> I have a feeling modding Skyrim isn't going to be as easy as modding the Sims *sighs*

re: anime characters, well, no, I'm just looking for more "Legolas" and less ... whatever you want to call the default elf dudes lol

If you are a seasoned Modder, you may wish to look at Mod Organizer; Gopher also has a series on this tool if interested.

And LOOT is highly recommended; appears to be an improved version of what BOSS used to do, and fewer corrections.

To avoid repletion, tedium, and annoyance. By using cc to make X Ebony arrows instead of chopping firewood, and Smithing, it saves time. Same goes for spamming Spells, Smithing and Enchanting jewelry, etc; dislike grinding, MMO techniques quite a lot.All that time saved, and still have over 2800+ hrs; do not believe it has spoiled the game for me.

But then you actually were interested in getting to the better stuff. I'm even more confused now.

Only the same better stuff that would have taken many times longer to acquire. As mentioned earlier, a key is self-restraint.

Agreed. The default elves are just

Though they're generally not a very attractive bunch, there is something about their appearance that stops me from downloading a mod that changes them that much. I think it works, and with some tweaks you can still create an interesting-looking character.

Thanks to the race menu mod I was able to make a pretty good wood elf. If you don't have that mod yet, I strongly recommend it. It gives a lot more options to tweak your characters.

*snip*

Oh yeah I use race menu. It's beautiful :D

I really dislike the ridges myself. I mean I could probably make a character I'd be okay with but meh I can't be bothered. He's a fur armor wearing piece of eyecandy. My females are either redguards or bretons.

I love racemenu for the color palette though. Beautiful.

Heh, the ridges are actually what I don't mind. The very narrow faces and pointy chins are more problematic. I needed the extra options race menu provided to make the cheeks and chin wider than what vanilla Skyrim allowed. Now wearing a Thieves Guild or Nightingale hood adds a little roleplaying, in that I can imagine he is hiding his pointy ears to blend in more. Wood Elves don't have a very good reputation, and a lot of his work isn't improving it, haha. Every guard still yells "watch it, elf!", but oh well. :P

Normally I'm a fan of beautiful elves as well, but without the more alien features of Skyrim elves I feel like they've been changed too much from what they were intended to be, so I leave them as it is. If the design works I'm fine with it (unlike with, say, DA2). Not that I blame people who want something more attractive to stare at. I saw that screenshot you posted as well when I was looking at elf mods, and I admit I was sorely tempted for a moment.

I do not have much trouble with TES Elves, as their very different appearances are seemingly part of the lore. I manage to CC some decent faces, and have placed them in attire that seems to well suit them.

For my Bosmer, I like to use a mix of Heavy and Light armors rather than only one or the other. The Armor of Retribution from the DB DLC works well for my Wood Elf; much better than for several other races.

Orcs wear Heavy (ie; Ebony & Orc helm), High Elves wear either sets, and my Dark Elves generally wear Daedric, as they make such great Vampires.

I do like that grim dark gritty look that all of the races had.

Also to me the Khajiit and Argonians looked more fearsome and alien as opposed to goofy and silly.

The elven races looked really intimidating with those eyes. They just didn't look human at all.

The humans looked like they hadn't washed their faces in ages. My only issue is that the Nords, Imperials and Bretons looked a bit to similar. I wish Bretons in particular looked slightly more Elven looking than they do at the moment.

Skyrim is a pretty harsh looking place and the faces really fitted this gritty look.

Is there a lore reasons for why Elves in  Elder Scrolls Online games look more human like but in Skyrim look really alien?

Like in Elder Scrolls Online the Altmer and Bosmer look like humans with pointy ears (Tolkien Elves).

Nope.

However there are lore reasons for Khajiit looking like humans in Arena and Daggerfall: MOON PHASES.

There are also lore reasons for Argonians looking a bit like humans in Arena. Different types of Argonians.

But, there aren't any reasons in lore why elves look inconsistent.

Nope. Constant CTDs on magic screen :( I can't figure out what's causing it either.

Full reinstall it is *sighs* well least I can start using MO now.

It us my understanding that a CTD at launch is generally related to Load Order; try using LOOT or BOSS. Also look for mods that may be in conflict.

Oh no it's not launch. It's when I try to go into the magic menu XD

But I think I isolated it! It was the Apocalypse spell DG esp. I have no idea why that posed an issue but as soon as I unticked it everything was gravy. Crisis averted. For now. *ominous music*

Oh! Magic menu; was thinking it was simply a descriptive way of describing the launch menu

Gopher has some vids on CTD's and various other ailments; might be helpful. be aware that removing the mod may not remove features included in past saves. This might be what TESedit is used for; uncertain.

 nah I know how to avoid those :P

Yeah I upgraded the version but apparently the manager left one of the esps activated. :X my stupidity.

XD Oh man the chins. *shakes head* Oooh that's not bad. And yeah the watch it elf...well my first male was a high elf so I got the suspicion (he also sided with the impire I'm surprised they didn't burn him at the stake lololol).

Ah that's fair :) I'm one to beautify everything if I can XD

He is quite handsome
