It's going to be a long wait.
So why not discuss what we'd like to see in the mean time.
I'd like to see the spell maker back.
I'm not kidding. Spell maker would elevate Skyrim from a 9/10 to a 10/10.
I loved that game so much, but sadly I didn't have the PC version. ![]()

The spell creation system in Morrowind was soooo broken. I remember the Soul Trap glitch where you could have permanent Bound Armor and Weapons and like 1000 (or more) in every attribute. It was nuts.
I also miss Levitate and Open Lock spells. The lack of Open Lock in Skyrim (other than The Tower sign which sucks) really annoyed me. I hope they put that back in for TES VI.

I say more variety is always good, especially something that is so overpowered and can break the game (in a single player title). I like to play games seriously and then goof around on my second playthrough, so being able to have highly overpowered characters capable of doing ridiculous and humorous feats just makes revisiting games that much more fun for me.
I realize that not everyone plays that way or likes exploits, but I don't see the harm in them if it the game is single player only and it provides more enjoyment for some players, after-all it is optional.

Skyrim is by far the best rpg game that I have played. I just got lost in that world, truly.
I am so excited to see what VI is going to be like. !Awesomeness Extreme!....most definitely.
If there is one thing I like to see in VI is the way the character carry the weapons. Shield and sword
must be o the back. I know there are mods that can do that, but it's kinda nice to have it in the vanilla game.
Also to have alot less dirt on the skin textures....lol...

It's going to be a long wait.
So why not discuss what we'd like to see in the mean time..
What I would love to see in a new game:
~ More and diverse random encounters with attached side quests/ stories (like the headless horseman)
~ Combat on horseback: instead of having to slowly dismount and then draw your sword all the while you're being attacked by a pack of wolves, make it so you can fight from horseback.......... or if that doesn't work, at least make the character jump out of his saddle and draw his weapon a bit faster than my grandmother would! xD
~ More, character-oriented ways to open locks (rogue style: classic lockpicking; mages: spells; warriors: bashing, with each discipline having approx. the same amount of potential failures that scale with the lock difficulty (breaking a lockpick, spell failure, locks can/ cannot be forced/ can only be forced open with certain skills)
~ Characters that look less dirty and also less old (no need to look like teenagers, but the player characters in Skyrim did look a lot more mature than usual. Seems to be difficult to implement this, though, because then characters tend to look too glossy. xD)
~ Build your own castle!
~ As someone else already mentioned, display weapons that are carried but not equipped.
~ Make no potion like the other: change one ingredient, get a whole new potion (doesn't have to be THAT different, but at least just a LITTLE bit different from the other potions with simila ingredients)
~ Less glitches (like the underwater hares and the floating mammoths xD)

What I would love to see in a new game:
- Random encounters sounds great. It would be nice to have a game that throws challenges at you unexpectedly. Imagine running out of potions and magicka, being low on health and stamina and then suddenly facing a challenging encounter. This sort of thing can make a game memorable in my opinion. Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind are all about creating memorable experiences for the player. Great suggestion.
- Regarding mounted combat: Never thought of that. Faster movement and combat animations would be great. I'd also like to see mounted spell casting.
- I love the idea of unlock spells for mages, lock picking for rogues and door bashing for warriors. However I would like there to be some kind of skill to it. Rogues have their lock picking, mages might have a mini game for their unlock spell and warriors have a door bash mini-game? Thing is, I don't want mages and warriors to have a cheap way out rendering lock picking pointless. In Oblivion I never resorted to lock picking because I never needed to. If you create easy ways out, then minigames that developers have spend weeks making will just be ignored. I can imagine developers getting really annoyed by this.
- Can we meet half way then? Have the option to have dirty gritty faces and have the option to have clean faces? Heck I'd create a rugged worn traveller for one play through and a clean faced paladin for the second. Also an age slider in the character creator would be nice. So you can make your character look 18 in one play through and 100 in another. I want to create a character that looks like present day Clint Eastwood or present day Helen Mirren. I love matured bad asses. It's wish fulfilment for me. That's why I love Taken and RED.
- Build your own castle. How could I possibly say no to a feature like that?
- Display weapons that aren't equipped? Interesting... Not really something I've given much thought. Nice idea.
- Make no potion like the other. Regarding alchemy I feel we could have a separate discussion about it. Features like alchemy, enchantment and smithing are huge topics. I'd like to see more features for all crafting skills. But don't mess up the balance too much. You get to a point in Skyrim where destruction magic becomes vastly inferior to weapons. With a combination of smithing and enchantment potions along with smithing and alchemy enchantments you can craft some obscenely powerful weapons. Not to mention the fact that both light armour and heavy armour can reach the armour rating cap. Now regarding your suggestion, it's a very good idea. Perhaps each item should be comprised entirely of unique alchemy effects so as to avoid overlapping.
- No glitches. No one wants these. The developers don't want these either. When you build a game with a large environment and loads of options you get these. Sometimes they're amusing, other times they're game breaking. Either way they ruin immersion. Programming is complicated, however modders have found ways to fix some (not all) of the issues via unofficial patches. Perhaps Bethesda should hire the skilled individuals behind the unofficial patches?
- I was wondering what you made of the 36 Perk Trees idea I posted above this post...

What I would love to see in a new game:
- Real fishing, sort of like in WoW or perhaps Torchlight/2
- Natural jump animation, not that cringe-worthy jump the PC does
- No loading screens for every city/house, including player houses
- Real windows, including player houses
- Greater detail render distance for PC (so I don't feel compelled to mod it)
- No sun rays reflecting off water when a mountain blocks the sun
(this carried over from Oblivion)
- Larger world space; with 64-bit processors the X, Y, and Z coordinate system can have massive values. I love Skyrim but stuff feels packed into the world space, and it only takes a few minutes to run from one city to another on foot. I'm not saying it needs to be like Daggerfall, but it would be nice if cities were further apart, etc.
- More intelligent companion AI, especially with regard to traps.
- DX11 lighting and tessellation, etc.
- Better UI, such as with SkyUI, iHUD, and another I can't think of at the moment.
- Actual working memory management this time. ![]()

Some really nice points here! I have a few to add aswell.
- Change the dialogues of NPC's according to your character's status. Let the NPC's recognise your character moving up in the ranks of a certain guild/ accomplishing certain heroic deeds, etc.
- A larger variety of... well, almost everything! Weapons, armours, shields, playable races, housing...
- A better character customisation. Skyrim removed the class system; personally, I enjoyed completely customising my character, including the birth signs. Also, bring back abilities like acrobatics! ![]()
- A larger variety of spells and animations. TES is the only gaming franchise where I find playing a wizard is completely boring... I do use magic, but only a an added bonus to my otherwise weapon-oriented characters.
- Give NPC's a better AI; also, don't let NPC's for the relevant quests die (or at least give us the option which type of gameplay we prefer, if we want it to be utterly realistic or not)
- Do not make abilities stupidly op at relatively low levels (like stealth in Skyrim XD )
- Improve textures/ small details that otherwise we would have to use mods for: water textures, footprints in snow, etc.
- More capes!
- Make moving objects around easier so you can actually customise your own home properly!

My idea for skills: 36 Skill Trees.
Also levelling up skills shouldn't be the only way to level up your character.
Warrior:
Rogue:
Mage:
Beast:
Racials:
What do you think of these skills?

I love long posts. More to talk about. So here goes.
- Change the dialogues of NPC's according to your character's status. Let the NPC's recognise your character moving up in the ranks of a certain guild/ accomplishing certain heroic deeds, etc. Agreed. Thanehood, leadership of a guild are mentioned but don't really mean a great deal. I liked that in Sovanguard you can reference some of your titles.
- A larger variety of... well, almost everything! Weapons, armours, shields, playable races, housing...
Yes! But what races do you want to add? If we are to have new races I'll opt for two new beast races as the beasts got the short end of the stick in Elder Scrolls.
More weapons. Spears, tridents, glaves, throwing weapons, traps, explosives, experimental dwemer tech etc?
Armours sound great.
Shields are weapons, but having a buckler would be nice. Increased agility but not as effective at blocking.
Housing. Damn. So many player home mods. Can't say no to that, though I must say, I should have purchased Skyrim on the PC and not the PS3.
- A better character customisation. Skyrim removed the class system; personally, I enjoyed completely customising my character, including the birth signs. Also, bring back abilities like acrobatics!
I have a post dedicated to the new skills. 36. I am intrigued to hear some ones thoughts on that. 8 skill trees for warriors, 8 skill trees for rogues, 8 for mages, 2 for transformations, and 10 for the races. As for birth signs, they were replaced with standing stones in Skyrims and ESO had boons (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't mind classes, but if they are to return, I want to feel as though I'm playing a class. In Oblivion I didn't feel like my class did anything other classes couldn't do. I still had access to all of the skills, only the major skills levelled up faster and contributed towards level gains.
- A larger variety of spells and animations. TES is the only gaming franchise where I find playing a wizard is completely boring... I do use magic, but only a an added bonus to my otherwise weapon-oriented characters.
My solution is bring back the spell maker and also introduce a design table for weapons and armour. I do have a more detailed concept in mind for the spell maker. How it works is you have 40 spell types (20 of them Conjuration types and 20 associated with no school). You pick one of those. Then you choose how powerful the spell will be in terms of damage, area of effect, duraiton etc. Finally you can choose upto 3 basic effects from Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism, Alteration, Restoration and Vampirism (if you're a vampire).
- Give NPC's a better AI; also, don't let NPC's for the relevant quests die (or at least give us the option which type of gameplay we prefer, if we want it to be utterly realistic or not)
Can't say no to either. However I am on board for having this as a toggle able option.
- Do not make abilities stupidly op at relatively low levels (like stealth in Skyrim XD )
That's a difficult thing to implement. You can spend ages doing calculations, but you only know if something is over powered when tested in game. This is something for patches. The worst offender for me is the skill boosts you get in alchemy, and enchantment when boosting your smithing. When you have a melee weapon or bow that can one hit kill Alduin you know your system is broken. That said it takes ages to do this.
- Improve textures/ small details that otherwise we would have to use mods for: water textures, footprints in snow, etc.
Agreed. Just be prepared for slower frame rates. Why can't we have smooth frame rates and amazing textures? Because consoles can't handle both.
- More capes!
Capes are cool. Impractical in battle but really cool nonetheless.
- Make moving objects around easier so you can actually customise your own home properly!
Agreed.
Great post! ![]()

^When I say 'more weapons, armour, etc', I don't only mean weapon types, but weapon styles. What I am missing in Skyrim are more distinct styles, something I compensate by adding mods.
As for housing: exactly! Why so many mods when a game can implement that stuff by itself? Building your own house, for exampe: choose a layout, choose a location (maybe certain locations on the map could be designated to be suitable for building houses? Locations that would need to be unlocked... I have always wanted my own cabin in the woods, for example! :3 )
As for the standing stones and boons: they're all very nice, but from a pure rp point of view I would prefer to have my own little 'private' bonus given to me by my birth sign. It doesn't have to be anything grand, just a small addendum, so that the concept of the additional bonusses through the standing stones can still be implemented.

Looks like there might be trouble in paradise for ESO (big surprise):
http://www.ign.com/a...99bdd7c33000002
I knew this game was gonna be a bust from the very start. Other than just being kind of a shitty idea in the first place, almost all new MMOs are inevitably crushed under the weight of WoW and have been for years. Give it up, Zenimax.
Well maybe Beth can salvage the leftovers and package it into a single-player experience

If it's going free to play, I'm definitely playing that game.
That said, it's really sad that it's so hard for an MMO to compete with World of Warcraft.
Every MMO that comes out is followed with the reaction "but it's not as good as World of Warcraft".
I'm sure World of Warcraft is amazing, but I find it quite sad that one game has a monopoly on the industry.
I'm sure Blizzard could do no wrong at this point? I bet they could just slap a Kung Fu Panda expansion to the game and it would still sell.

Well I guess they did, and it sold well too. ![]()

Well it's not just that WoW has a monopoly but a lot of MMOs that come out are... not-so-good, whereas WoW is actually pretty solid in most respects. ESO is one such MMO. A guy named Joe who is very angry laid it out pretty good:
