KenKen- At least you still manage to get things done for which needs to get done and still spend time doing what you like to do to relax including playing games. Which there is nothing wrong with that there IMHO.<G> Some like different games as for me there are lots I can either take them or leave them.

Iron-Depends on the game for me. Now if it's one that draws me in and keeps my attention I'll play it all the way through. If not than it could take me forever to get through the game. Like with DA 2 it just didn't hold my interest the way for which DA 1 did. And I'm not a console game player I prefer the pc myself.

Yeah I know what you mean. Funny enough when you said "games you like"  Preorders aside, out of like 76 plus games between now and 2013 (hope we get more for 12 than whats on the list) I only am keeping my eyes on 10 of them, of those, I'm pretty sure I'll get at least two of them off the bat. The others are question marks. But not really a bad thing, I considerd this to be a good year and only reserved 8 games. I'm picky when it comes to what I want to play.

Will have to admit that with me there isn't a whole lot of games for which I like. Mainly the role playing ones like BG, NWN, and just recently the ES series. Now I did Pre-order DA 2 and it was a total let down to be honest with you there. Was nothing near as good as they said it would be. I got bored with it after the first play through it was done. DA now I played that several times through. The Mgr @ the local Gamestop got me into the ES series of games and I love them. Now I swore after DA 2 was such a let down that I would never pre-order another game again; I'd give it a wait and see approach. But I did go against that and pre-ordered Skyrim.

Same here.  I swore I'd never get burned again after what happened with DA2.  But I ended up pre-ordering Skyrim anyway.

I think we're safe, though.  There's a certain.... consistancy with the ES series.   You know what you're gonna get for the most part. Bethesda doesn't do 180s.  They tweak  things and adjust things.  They don't overhaul.

And anyway, they spent almost 4 years and $100 million making  Skyrim.    And  the modders are getting a toolset.  So  I'm fairly certain it won't suffer  from a rushed and slapped together feel that we got from DA2.

Actully I rather liked DA:2. But then again I dislike most WRPGs and like JRPGs. But in terms of games I like, Shooters, but I have standards there, such as Saints Row 2, MGS, Halo, and Singularity, vs *insert US Military games*, CoD or Battlefield. I like having a good story, or neat mechanics in my shooters.   Fighting games, Though I buy maybe two-3 of these every few years. Mainly as I like the more old style play, such as you found in Soul Caliber up till now. And I either suck at/just hate, high difficulty fighters, ones that use a heavy combo system, and juggeling. I want to beat the **** out of Lu Kang, not at like I'm at the circus.  Short of that you have RTS which are hard to find, or at least hard to find good ones. Then RPG's.  And rarely flight sims/mech games, mainly given how few are made, or in the flight case good mechanics.

Then I pick up "odd" games, like Lego Star Wars, or Mario Kart, Mario golf, etc....damnit we need a halo kart and halo golf now >>. But yeah, looking at my collection now (360 only not counting preorders), I have two fighters, 3 odd balls, 3 RTS, one flight (had three, no good Mech games so far and I've played about 5 of those), 8 RPGs(3 of these are XBL Market titles),  and 14 shooters. (3 are XBL Market titles) I tend to keep around 20 some odd games at any given time, and at least 6 of those titles are constantly, or near constantly being traded out for another.

As to the Vampires Druss....good makes them more easy to spot and kill.

Yeah, it's just the E3 demo split into three parts. Still, pretty cool to see in its entirety! Love the details. <3

And we still see exactly zero footage of 3rd person view combat.

Todd Howard himself said he was surprized to see that almost half of the people playing the game at the last Convention were playing in 3rd person. Yet Bethesda still doesn't feel that it's important enough to bother showing. Ever.  Every single video released so far  shows, at best,    walking in 3rd person... or  some guy swatting the air with his weapon, but as soon as an enemy enters the screen... Boom.  back to first person.   I wonder if there's a reason for this. Like maybe  the  3rd person combat animatations aren't anything worthy of advertising?

Mute point for me, short of looking at my gear, never use it. And well maybe he just doesn't like thrid person and when he goes into combat always switches to first?

I mean if I liked Green dinner plates, and about half of you like blue, too bad I'm still keeping green.  Then again you might be right and there is nothing special about it, then again short of magic, when have the ES games ever made anything nice and flashy.

Right.   We're not talking about a consumer playing  a game he bought.  We're talking about a Game developer demonstrating a product he's created  and is  now trying to sell.   If You're a game designer and your job  is to demonstrate the game's features to the public, your  specific game preferences are kinda irrelevant.

The game has a 3rd person feature.  And  every single press release I have seen has, with almost hyperbolic fervor,  screamed that the 3rd person gameplay has been vastly improved from Oblivion.  Well?   Prove it.  Show us   some spell slinging in 3rd person.  Show us  if Archery is  an even remotely viable option in 3rd person.

I don't blame the demo for focusing on 1st person. For the simple matter that you can see more of your surroundings that way. It's not that they're shunning people who play in 3rd person. But it's also the default setting.

If its My product, my money, and my investment, I can damn well have burning monkies running around throwing copies of the games like fecies. Course that might be counterproductive, but at the end of the day its my product, my money, and I can honestly do with it as I damn well please.

And funny enough Such sellsmenship has been known to work, an old Car Dealer in my area for instance when people asked how much a car was had a habit of going "More than you can buy it for" Promtly pissed off, said person would leave, look at the price, then come back and flash the money at him, and go "Oh yes I can!". To which he then would sucker them into the sell buy stating it was a few hundred less than listed.

As to the "hyperbol" as you put it...play Oblivion..look at thrid person, hell even first person. "drastic" improvement doesn't really mean anything, its all from your point of view.

Lets say I ran your legs over and crushed them, then I promise to make it better, you'll most likely expect bionic legs if alot of other people who seen my plans before hand go "Oh man trust him its great!" But in fact you end up with a cast and metal rods to set your bones back in place.  Course always bare in mind as with your legs IE the third person, if it was in such bad shape or horrible to see, amputation was and always is an option. So while it IS better, its not what you'ld expect I'ld wager.

So they could have taken out thrid person fully. And while you have alot of hype, remember it doesn't take much to make something that was broke and shot to hell and make it "better" the question is "who's" better.  Chances are its a moderate improvement, as they don't consider the thrid person to be used all that much, thus not shown, as if I showed you my plans versus what you think you'll get, you might not be happy.

Then again at the end of the day like that car sellsmen, he might just not give a crap enough to show it.

So Your answer to why Bethesda refuses to show any 3rd person Skyrim combat footage is: Because Todd Howard personally likes to play the game in First person.

LOL

Somehow, I seriously doubt this is the reason. Marketing and advertising are, by nature, not quite that personal. They can't be. Because they'd fail if they were.

For example,  A supermaket will  still showcase their meat department and its specials, even if the manager is  a life-long vegetarian.  A department store will still  show and advertise their  women's apparel line, even if the CEO of the company happens to be, you know... Male.

Incorrect on both counts, After all the Model T Ford was a best seller and when Asked if it will come in any color than black Henry Ford Said "You can have any color you want. So long as its black.* If your product is the only one of a type or the "better value" It will sell reguardless, hence why we have monopoly laws today in the US.  If you have the cheapest, best, or only, you can pretty much be as huge of a dick as you want and still get sells, as there is no other option.

And on the other issue no, Either its his choice or more likely, its not advanced all that much past what you see in the "swing at air.", or given that Skyrim is rather tight lipped. I mean look at all the trailers we've had and gameplay showcases. Its the same **** all the time, every time.  And it wouldn't be the first game that did this, hell some companies are even tighter. I remember when Super Mario 64 came, and all you seen was some commerical that went "Its a Me Mario!" And next to no information short of the games name and the date.

Course I still stick with its not equal with the First Person, as they stated "We were surprised anyone played thrid person."  So its that or its equal and they have no trailers of it. Short of little posts, pictures, and interviews here and there, its been the same trailer we seen months ago.

Terrible analogy.

The game has both a 1st and a 3rd person view.  So it'd be like  Henry ford repeatedly telling the public that the Model T comes in 2 colors:  Black and  Silver.  And then refusing to show the Silver  to potential buyers..

I don't see why not showing 3rd person combat is a big deal, theres alot of features they anounced and haven't shown yet. Its still a first person game at heart so I wouldn't expect the 3rd person camera to get any sort of big focus, its just an optional feature.

Actually...I wouldn't be surprised if thats why he doesn't show 3rd PV. Bethseda's a human company, after all.

A lot of the features they haven't shown would be potion making, crafting, Relationship converstations. I really think Bethesda wants you to enjoy the game when it comes out and not see every freaking detail. You know in the demo the fact you have to look at an item to know how to solve a puzzle was really cool. They didn't have to show that, but most people who dive into a game and don't know about stuff like that get annoyed with the game and just  play it for an hour and then stop. I love the fact this game is still kind of simple, but will make you think. =]
