I've never been so excited for a game! I've even gone as far as already setting up my character and his backstory. TESV: Skyrim has officially turnedme into a nerd!
Oh, and on a side note I guess every species is known as Human. Everyone in Oblivion keeps refering to everyone as "Human"??

I'll try avoiding this thread after release because I don't want the game to be spoiled for me. I have to wait two weeks after release to get it because I opted for free shipping from Amazon.

That's unlucky, I think I'd die if I had to wait an extra two weeks (major elder scrolls fanboy, dont judge me)

I was thinking about getting it and waiting until January to start so most of the best mods will be avaliable (if needed) so I can have the best first experience. I don't know if I could constrain myself that long.....

I believe the following two images are from the PC version, since the resolution is much higher than what is possible on Xbox:

I assume it will still be going with people discussing their differing experiences with the game. We won't all be seeing the same things or dealing with them the same way.
@Naughty99: Where is that second screenshot from? I've not seen it before. Makes me think there may be more I haven't seen.

Game consoles arn't that weak, in fact most of them never have a dev that pushes it to the limit, like the gamecube, not one developer ever pushed it to its limits. Yeah PC's have better looks, but thats also accounting for 200 dollar + drivers

From the two images I'll tell you right now the bottom one is easily done on the 360, the top one might be PC though.

You could be right there but now why is it that the Dev's don't push the game consoles to their limits? Is it due to the money aspect of things?
Ok folks were at 150 pages and counting here. Think we can break 200 pages before the release of Skyrim in just under two months?

Having watched the video again I just noticed for the first time that at the very start you can see Bleak Falls Barrow away off in the distance. This really impressed me for some reason, I knew that kind of thing was in the game but seeing it like that really made it look like a giant leap ahead from Fallout: New Vegas. Its the most believable world I've seen since Shenmue.
To the people looking for third person action, I think a look at the fight at the start of the first video gives some clues if you watch the enemy. He still seems to be a bit floaty and detached from the ground to my eyes, I'd imagine 3rd person combat won't be too disimilar to that. Its not perfect but atleast it offers clues.
Consoles have never been pushed to the max because usually when devs are finally confident enough with the hardware to really do it a new generation of consoles come along and they have to start allover. Games scheduled to be released at the end of one console cycle that would really push the hardware are then pushed onto the next generation instead.

Its pretty much as Druss said, remember the next console isn't just a number, its like a whole new OS for a dev. So it takes time to learn it fully and well by the time someone does, gee the next console is here. PCs have a longer shelf life than most consoles (Marketing wise I mean), its the hardware add ons that change in them mostly. Its like from what I heard Twilight Princess on the GC for example played with no problems at all inspite of being a port from a next gen system.
Though I think money and "playing it safe" are factors as well, I mean after all Half-life two played on the Original X-box with no trouble.

Not possible. The image on the bottom is 3580x1000 resolution.
Most likely it was rendered on the PC version with 1080p dual monitor resolution (3840x1080) and then cropped to 3580x1000.
Certainly composite images can be created from multiple Xbox screens, but the vertical resolution would have been 720p (for example, 2560x720 or even 3840x720), not 1000p.

I ment the apperance itself, not the image.

Although some Skyrim locations could easily double for north of the wall.
Can I request that spoilers for the book series be labeled too if we are going to discuss them, I'm not finished reading them all yet.

Falmer (snow elves) confirmed (as enemies- they aren't playable). Not sure about them being "evil and twisted" though. I was hoping that they'd be more sophisticated than this.
That is not a pic of Falmer.
Here are the only pics we have of Falmer:
Where did you get these pieces of art from? Also there was already link to the original rockpapershotgun site's claim in the blog entry, so we know that this particular blog at least is reliable (as for the image, it looks to me like an Oblivion mod).

Well now not being a console game player will have to admit that I didn't realize that they were changing them that quickly. And to think that there was a point when computer wen't that way. But my I7 is still top of the line chip.<G>

Yeah the norm on consoles is 5 years or so, though Sony and Microsoft seem content to wait at least 3 more years maybe. Nintendo is sticking to the 5 years, but nintendo was behind Sony and microsoft and right now the WII U looks to be JUST reaching those two, so they are taking it easy. Honestly I'm happy to see the years streaching from 5 to 8, saves me some money, though the PC market in terms of new tech might be heading for a slow down. Though will be nice to finally see a Console maybe reaching its hardwares max ability.
Where as PC's untill here lately would stick around with an OS a hell of along time...I mean I had my 95 at least 10 years or better. And even now lots of people still use XP. Though in fairness we only have Windows 7 as Vista was crap.
Other OS's though changed hardly at all minus updates and such, namely your third party ones.
