Actually there is no hard cap imposed by game mechanics, it just takes longer and longer to level up until you get to a point where it's no longer possible because your skills are almost maxed out and there is not enough XP from skill increases available to increase your character level any further.

That point will be somewhere around level 70-80, probably depending on a few factors such as the order in which you leveled your skills, whether you have used items that affect XP and whether you have been in jail, etc.

This may be a stupid question but its been a while since I played Oblivion, whats being in jail got to do with XP? I vaguely recall something about learning lockpicking but I'm not sure if I imagined that.

You lose skills if in prison for a certian amount of time (the longer the more skills you lose...) I think that's what he's talking about, but I don't know if they are implementing that in Skyrim *shrug*

Lol actully yes. In elementry school we had old Apple Dos Machines with those retarded ass green screens and played Organ trail lol.

Sounds violent for an elementary school game! :D

XD

Oregon trail though I think I did call it the Organ trail myself however given all of my people always died one after the other.

And Red, yeah I know some people who do that for a hobby, I don't much care for it myself, though I love gunsmithing and tinkering with mechanical objects, I like to see how things work, take em apart, put em back together again.

I was curious as to what made them tick on the inside so after buying a new computer after 95 came out I decided to take the ole one apart.Image IPB Learned really quick that there wasn't much to them only about a dozen components and it goes together pretty much like a jigsaw puzzle. Since than been building my own. That way I can put in it exactly what I want and set it up my way right from square one.

Not all FPS games are like CoD guys, but then again most CoD players call the turely good shooters "Hard games!". But yeah RPG Codex is crap just like Metacritic.

Yeah the post was pretty much a rather childish rant directed at Oblivion. There was barely anything Skyrim related in it.

Really? I really wish it wasn't because that whole article was childish. People might get the wrong idea about FPS gamers from venturing into that mess of a site.

So about the levelling system, will magic-attuned races like Bretons and Altmer (aside from having bigger mana pools) be able to gain perks quicker in magic-related skills, and gain perks slower in combat-related skills? Will Bosmer be naturally more attuned to archery skills, etc?

I remember reading something about this, but can't find it anymore.

Like in Oblivion and Morrowind I think they'll get a headstart on certain skills but wont get any more benefits other than that

Is it common for games that have only been out for 2 weeks to go on sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

IMO it seems unlikely because it's so soon after release date.

Yes.  But it's not the same as a permanent reduction in price that you see when the game's been out for 6 months or whatever.  It's usually a specifically advertised special  that  it shares with a bunch of other new releases, and it's usually just for that weekend, and it's, at  most,   a $10-off sale.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins, for example,  at Best Buy for $39.99 on Black friday of 2009.    But I noticed that 3 days later it was back up to $50.

But  To  wait  2 weeks longer than necessary for Skyrim?   Ha!    I won't be doing that!

Perhaps they get some starting bonus points for certain skills, but that would be about it.

It seems that each race gets a few unique abilities. Argonians get three abilities, for example (1. Histskin permanent 50% resistance to disease, 2. Permanent water breating, 3. Once per day health regen power.) The journalists who played Argonians didn't mention any skill bonus points.

I think I have you beat, Redneck.  I already paid for my pre-order, but then one week later I became a moderator on the Bethesda forum, so it looks like I might end up with two copies.

Amazon has promoted it as being on sale. I forget the link, though.

Wow that's crazy! I wonder if moderators of other sites get perks like this?

I knew that you were a moderator on the board I remember when you announced that to us here. But will have to admit that I didn't know that you also get a copy of the game as well. What other perks do you get for being a moderator?

Not really much, just some swag and copies of the games.

Of course, I only do it to show my support for the Bethesda team :innocent:

Yea right and I'm mother Thresea as well.<LOL> How'd you end up getting a mod position over there? As for me I'm currently working on getting through "The Big Heist". The last of the Gray Wolf quest for the Theives guild. Currently in the sewers getting ready to go through a strange looking door.<LOL>
