Not really much, just some swag and copies of the games.

Of course, I only do it to show my support for the Bethesda team :innocent:

Yea right and I'm mother Thresea as well.<LOL> How'd you end up getting a mod position over there? As for me I'm currently working on getting through "The Big Heist". The last of the Gray Wolf quest for the Theives guild. Currently in the sewers getting ready to go through a strange looking door.<LOL>

LOL I've been playing Oblivion for years and still haven't made it that far in the Thieves' guild questline. I hear "The Heist" is one of the best quests, though.

I've been playing with a mod that adds a lot of Fighters' Guild quests and new Fighter's Guild members with unique outfits and I accidentally killed some of them because I thought they were bandits. So lately I'm hunting for bear pelts to get admitted back to the Fighter's Guild after being expelled for murder.

Will have to admit that so far the heist is pretty interesing to be honest with you. LOL now that there is funny how many pelts have you gotten so far? I'm glad that I save before I talk to store owners and fences. you see I made the mistake of punching one of the fences in the mouth. I mistakenly hit the LMB instead of the space bar not paying attention to what I was doing. I get this thing come up that I've been kicked out of the thieves guild. I did a quick re-load. Figured that I had come to far to get kicked out now.<LOL>

Ooooh...third person is looking good.  I keep expecting that Khajiit to chase his own wiggly tail.

......

By the way, I never understood how people predetermine that they don't like a race. I've had favorites but never disliked a race and I always find it weird.

I'm not sure it suits a Khajiit to use an axe and shield, they always strike me as archers (or anything to do with stealth really). Good to see some more gameplay though, and I'm glad that the tails have been improved, silly as that sounds.

I think I'll be doing combat purely in 1st person, but 3rd for roaming/travelling.
I hope they use this kind of 3rd person for Fallout 4 (If that happens, that is).

Thanks for putting this footage up.

Yea, they added in some slow-mo death animations, but otherwise it looks very oblivion-like (lifelesss) to me.

What really bothers me about the combat is that there is no sense of weight and the hit reaction is laughable.  Todd slashes that guy right across the neck and he barley flinches.  You would expect to get knocked down from a mammoths tusks, yet all you get is a red splash across the screen.:(

I know with alot of you guys, Beth can do no wrong.  But if you don't have any criticisms, things won't ever improve.   It's not a tactical or story/dialog driven game so doing the combat well is very important in a game like this.

That's become the norm for Bethesda games really, I think I'm quite desensetized (Spelling?) to it though.
I'm happy that Skyrim is a great improvement over Oblivion's combat (From what I've seen/heard) anyway.

Especially the changes to the Bow, and duel wielding almost anything sounds quite interesting too.

The combats not fantastic, I mean I don't think you'll hear anyone say that....but it works and there's a lot more to Elder Scrolls then that either way.

Combat does look a bit lifeless. Especially the reaction of the enemy who takes damage. Hopefully modders make a dynamic combat mod.

Still, much better than oblivion.

Enemies don't react to hits in similar action RPGs like Risen or Gothic (or the Witcher 1/2) either. It's a banal thing to be complaining about.

The only time I've seen enemies reeling from blows, and barely being able to stand on their legs when they're near death, is in Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.

Can't agree with that. Maybe the enemies didn't react quite enough to blows in Gothics and Risen, but there definately was a sense of weight behind a blow, a clash of steel on a shieldblock or parry. Getting out of balance due to block/miss.

These last Skyrim movies make me very sad, as there seems to be no weight to blows at all. Like he's swinging a feather-like object.... and not hitting anything with it. I expected much better, to be honest.

I can't help but wonder that the 1st person view of combat looks a lot better than the 3rd person, as evidenced by the videos we've seen of 1st person. If so, I'm sure those who prefer 3rd person will be quite displeased.

In all the Skyrim videos I've seen, 3rd person combat looks much, much better than 1st person IMO (perhaps with the exception of the archery animation, although we have not yet seen 3rd person archery).

The sword and axe swinging animations arc outside of the field of view of the 1st person camera, also the camera is not stable in first person, so your POV gets bounced around when you block.

Not sure about spell casting, as we have not seen any 3rd person spell casting animations.

As for previous Bethesda games, I usually played about 60-70% of the game in third person, switching to first person primarily when using archery, distant spell casting and distant rifle attacks (FO3)
