I'm looking forward to it, and hope it's more Morrowind than Oblivion in *most* aspects. I hope there are some NPCs worth a damn, although I shouldn't moan about Bethesda, at least Bethesda will let me name my character.

I was hoping for some sort of soft toy plague to wipe out the Khajiit, as I despise them, but I will probably have to wait for another game for that.

Perhaps if there are lots of them in Skyrim I will RP a char whose parents were snuggled to death by Khajiit, and wreak terrible revenge on them by casting humorous paralyze spells on them.

For my part I am looking forward to spell creation - I had a couple of absolutely awesome/monstrous custom spells that I'm looking forward to recreating (or even importing, were such a thing possible).

We shall see.

Well you will be thrilled to hear Spell making has gone...

Interviewer: One thing that when I was down to see you guys at the studio was stuff related to how spells would interact with each other and that kind of thing. And I would suspect that the results of your experimentation on that would have an affect on whether you have anything like spellcrafting, right?

Todd: “Yeah, spellcrafting is a real wildcard. Something that we’ve done a lot. And there are pluses and minuses to it. We’d like to find… we have some ideas that we really like on how to solve that, and I don’t know where that’s going to go. But the thing that we DON’T like about the previous systems that we’ve done, is it becomes very “spread-sheety.” It takes the magic out of magic. You got to see the game, but your listeners haven’t. There’s a bigger emphasis on how the magic physically acts. Just a spell like fire; there are different spells for how the fire moves. Like putting down a rune that explodes when you walk over it. Or fire you can spray that lingers on the ground, like you’re spraying a wall, and you can spray the ceiling. Or fire that travels like a flamethrower out of your hands. Or a fireball that you charge up and throw and it explodes at a distance. So our main goal is to make magic feel like this arcane powerful thing. And once it goes into a spreadsheet in the game where you can just say I want something at this distance and this power, it removes the illusion of like how this stuff actually works. So we have some ideas of ways around that, but we don’t know where those are going to go yet. We do have the benefit of, we’re really, really happy with how the magic plays in the game, both visually and mechanically. And then being able to do it with both hands. There are opportunities there for combinations and things you can do without getting into the spreadsheet aspect of it. Which I do know some people like, but it does take away from the impact of the spells that you’re finding and mechanically how they work.”

Unless you have a PC then not to worry and Creation Kit has you covered ;)

CaptainCrash-I couldn't agree with you more. After all you get you're money's worth when you buy an Elder scrolls game and I dont mind paying $60 for the game.

Yeah most likely since Fallout 3 feels very Oblivion-ish and they've said Skyrim is similar to Oblivion.

Sounds like it's all in the name of "balancing", when magic is supposed to be limitless in Elder Scrolls. Melee and archery must pale in comparison to the magic of a master magician.

Fascinating! He manages to grasp my precise feelings about the earlier installments! The magic system was horribly generic and somehow... the "magic" in it was entirely lost...

Well with this new system I'm really hopefull that magic might finally start to feel interesting in Skyrim!

I fully agree with you on this here. And all this time that I've been playing the game I thought it was just me that felt that way. I'm glad to see that I'm not.

I really didn't think it made it feel any less like magic. It's just that the magical effects don't really have any flair in them in both Oblivion and Morrowind, unless they had a radius of 100ft. I rather enjoyed making my own personal repertoire of spells and name them to fit my custom class and his/her abilities.

Sad to see it go, but I can live without it.

360, no way will my computer be able to handle Skyrim. I couldn't even play Oblivion without having to tweak something in the readme file, which turned all water from water into transparent purple glass.

Actully its been stated by the Team, it pretty much is. Its really Oblivion based, the system, just tweaked, a bit and some changes. Has far more in common with Oblivion than Morrowind in any case.

I didn't realize that your computer wouldn't handle the game as I don't know what kind of system you've got. I'm currently running an I7 with 6 gigs of  tri channel ram and an ATI Radeon 5670 graphics card. So I hopefully won't have any problems running it on the current system as I don't have a problem running Oblivion on it.

Dunno but your card might be outdated for it.

Well now if thats the case I might have to look into a new graphics card for it.. Might have to see whats out there.

Well if it is I guess I'll have to update the card than. At least I don't need to upgrade the whole computer.<G>
