@Rymen - Oooooo histskin....Then perhaps the enemy suffers the hallucingenic (spellcheck please? lol) effects of Hist Sap when they hit you? Which would be pretty frickin sweet if the enemy comes at you in a group. One of them hits you, they start hallucinating and start swinging at their buddies? Oh yea, instant CC ftw :)

Or they hit you and then they sit around on a couch eating doritos and questioning the origins of the universe.

This will probably be the RPG of the year, if not GOTY!

It will win many GOTY awards, and rightfully so I think.

I have a feeling Skyrim will be my GOTY too (sorry Witcher).

The top three contestants for "Game of the Year" in terms of popularity, are Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim. I have faith in Skyrim, though.

BTW: I was mostly an archer in that game. I loved enchanting my arrows snd just going crazy. I have a preference to speed and precision in these kinds of games. I am more of a rogue type player I guess. That may be why I didnt like it that much. That being said It does look like they made it a lot better for Skyrim. Todd Howard even said they put a lot more work into the third person perspective on this game.

I had a lot of fun playing an archer as well. My husband and I always laughed at how my archer looked, because it always seemed like she was trying to show people her bow - not what it could do, but how pretty it was. To this day, it's still a silly long-standing joke between us ("have you seen my bow?") Yes, I am a big dork.

I thought the graphics were great, but by the nines, the inventory system was/is terrible. I tried to pick up Oblivion again a few months ago, in preparation for Skyrim, and I just couldn't do it, and the inventory headaches were why. The endless S-L-O-W scrolling through a massive list of ingredients was too much. But alas, I digress. I'm looking forward to the new menu system in Skyrim.

I hear ya! Theri is just something fun about shooting an enchanted arrow that explodes and sends everybody flying lol. I think what added to it was a was master thief so I loved just sneaking around and then when they werent expecting it... BAM!!! Its a great feeling lol. The inventory was a serious hassel so it's a good thing they fixed it. Oh and everybody has a nerd factor. Something they just go nuts over. Its cool nerds are in now havent you heard. Whats funny is my cousin and I tried to teach his fiance how to play, Everytime she would shoot an hour and miss or get caught sneaking she would freak and run her character in circle's haha. We had to turn the difficulty all the way down so she would stop dying. Good Times!Image IPB

My favorite thing in the world to do in Oblivion with most of my stealth characters was to take my bow, knock an enchanted exploding arrow while crouched down right behind the enemy, and then let loose and watch them literally fly 50-60 feet in the air (sometimes higher lol) strait up in the air.  It worked best when you hit them in the feet because then, the force of the explosion would send them strait up B)

Now that there is great which I love doing. I guess thats why I enjoy sneak with using a bow. I remember the first time I nailed a skeleton and its bones went flying every where. All of a sudden the thing pulls himself back together and it gets up and starts attacking you again. I'm like no way.

That's a great cast!  ... for Fallout, that is.  Not quite so sure how it'll work with TES; in fact I'm quite concerned.  I feel like I'm the odd one out, though.

Well now from what I've seen of Skyrim I would tend to agree with you on this here. Of course I'll have to wait util I play the game.  BTW I see we have another TW fan here.Image IPB

At least this time they won't have 5 actors doing all the voices. I like to hear that they're will be over 70!!

I have faith the voice acting will be great. I didn't have faith in Heath Ledger as The Joker when he was announced.

On that, me=epic fail

That's a pretty sedate cast for a AAA title, but I like it. Joan Allen is kind of a curveball.

That was the only thing I really hated about it.  Vampires (according to lore) are supposed to be hauntingly beautiful.  So if anything, it should "improve" your character's physical appearance

I can accept the whole hauntingly beautiful idea. I mean I like vampire's. I thought they looked alright in Oblivion with their pale skin and cool red eyes. I think it would be cool if they gave them really sharp pointed claws to.Image IPB
I can handle most changes when it comes to character designs and things like that. I swear though if one of their vampires start SPARKLING i'm going to break my PS3 and start a riot. Vampires dont sparkle. Just had to share that!

That was the very first mod I ever installed, a very tiny mod (a few KB in size) called "Vampire Aging Disabled." Used it during my first playthrough of the game.

I've heard a lot about perks, but how will levelling skills actually work?

I saw pickpocketing, for example, isn't based upon skill but on the item's worth. If pickpocketing is a skill, why can't a highly skilled pickpocketer get higher items more easily?

It's based on the skill as well, of course. It's just that higher value items are more difficult to pickpocket than inexpensive items. If your pickpocketing skill is very low, you have a less chance compared to someone with high pickpocketing skill.

Leveling skills will be the same as Oblivion in the sense that you perform actions to raise the skill; however, it seems they have improved it by getting rid of some of the repetitive activities like casting unlock on a door hundreds of times to level Alteration:

1. May 2011 Norwegian Gamer.no Interview

Q: In previous games many skills were increased by casting the "unlock" spell fifty times on a door, and so forth. Is this still possible?

Todd Howard: No, we have resolved most of these issues. Some of the skills we have, for example, gotten rid of, like "Athletics" and "Acrobatics". For who creates a character and think "I'll role-play a guy who runs"? Much of the repetitive activities have been removed.

2. April 2011 Ausgamer interview:
"Your skills are still levelable through active use, in that performing said skill will advance it. However, you can’t just spam them now, as the active levelable skills require specific use. So, essentially, you can’t just stand on the spot and spam jump to level your Acrobatic skill, because it no longer exists.

It’s a great system that requires consistent and active play and engagement with the game , which is something the team strove for from Day One.

Moreover, skills are now actively tied to levelling your character, and not the other way around. It’s slightly complex, and Todd explains it better than I could, but we have a Q&A transcript coming today, so stay tuned, but it makes much more sense than the system in Oblivion, with the perk system basically pulled from Fallout 3 to create what seems to be the most logical character-levelling and progression system ever created. "

Thanks Naughty, like always. Good stuff.

I'm playing Fallout 3 right now, playing on default difficulty...its really easy. Having a blast though, don't know how the hell I didn't like it the first time I ever picked it up. I have oodles of ammo, although I'm a looter so I find it all. I'm going to have to set it aside, I doubt I'll have it completed to my satisfaction by the time Skyrim comes out, then I have KoA, FO: New Vegas to play along with possibly Dark Souls/Dragon's Dogma.

Holy **** I'm backloaded.

FO3 was what got me interested in gaming again after about a 20 year hiatus. Prior to that the last game I probably played was Civilization 1 or Master of Orion in the early nineties. (or perhaps it was the first DOOM game )

Well except the graphics. And the continuous free-roaming (of course there was free roaming in parts 1 and 2 as well, but limited to map roaming and finding sites of interest/random encounters).

But the gameplay mechanics were so much better! Can't believe how they butchered the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system in Fallout 3....

Sorry Todd, but I bet I'll still be able to cast shield or heal on myself repeatedly, or summon a skeleton and attack it with my weapon or throw a fireball at it.
