That was the only thing I really hated about it.  Vampires (according to lore) are supposed to be hauntingly beautiful.  So if anything, it should "improve" your character's physical appearance

That was the very first mod I ever installed, a very tiny mod (a few KB in size) called "Vampire Aging Disabled." Used it during my first playthrough of the game.

I wish there was an easy way to mod console versions of the game.  I play on 360 myself (and sometimes PS3 for other console specific titles lol).  So I pretty much have to deal with whatever they package in the vanilla version of the game in that regard.  Which in all honesty, doesnt really bother me (too) much.  But if I did play on PC, I can assure you that would have been the first mod I installed lol.

I played Oblivion on PS3. I had this massive save file, and my character was a really good looking female, then i decided to become a vampire for awhile....then the PS3 vampire cure glitch. It was impossible to do the cure glitch, and i cant mod on the PS3. I nerd-raged so hard that whole week. I had invested so much time in that save.

Fallout 3 was my first Fallout, then i went back and played the first two and thought they were brilliant, especially 2. I still love Fallout 3 though, and i can understand why others dislike it. But i think others miss whats good about Fallout 3 (the exploration, world, loot) because they (justly) rage at how Fallout 3 changed and ruined what was the originals.

I would have done the same, but since i wasn't constantly comparing between them (because i hadn't played first ones), i could enjoy F3's strengths.

FNV though, almost gets the balance just right, with improved combat and gameplay than F3, exploration and world thats nearly as good as F3, and the superior roleplaying aspects and lore, story and quality writing of F1 and 2. If it wasnt for the damn bugs, it would nearly be my perfect game.

I'll go right out on a limb here and say that Fallout 3 the extra content constitutes one of the greatest games experiences of modern times, and probably the best value for money good game that you could play on a console... ever.

It is the finest and most successful butchery of an RPG franchise I have ever seen, and I think it has to be respected for just how good it is. Even in the FO series, even with S.P.E.C.I.A.L. buggered up,  even having superficial content (as sandboxy games do) I think it can hold its head high.

I think FO3 is also one of the biggest games I've ever played, it easily matches almost everything else ever in terms of play time.

If Skyrim has fixed the problems with Oblivion by giving it the love FO3 got, then WOW! Sign me up.

I had not played any recent videogames before when I tried FO3 and perhaps I enjoyed it so much partly because I'm a big fan of post apocalyptic fiction and films and partly because my only frame of reference was games made during the 1980s. In any case, playing FO3 led me to try other recent games like Oblivion, DA:O, etc.

The only reason I never went back and played FO 1 and 2 is because I heard that one (or both of those titles) essentially forced you to complete the game in a timelly fashion because you had a set "time limit" to do so before the bombs fell or something like that?  And I remember thinking, if that's true, I want nothing to do with those titles because if I wanted to play a game with a set time limit, then I'd go play any mario brothers title where I had only a couple minutes for each "level".

That kind of set up works for very retro style games but loses it's relevence in the modern gaming industry IMO.

Part 1 had a timer. But it was nothing like the arcade games and really you had plenty of time to do lots of stuff. The time passage was only significant during map travel anyway. So when you loaded a location, town, whatever, you didn't have to hurry actually playing/exploring places/speaking to people.

And once you solved the initial crisis, the timer was gone and you could play and explore however slow you wanted to.

Thats what i was thinking when i first started it. It was daunting and i got paranoid about the limit and thought i had to rush things and  i just put the game off. Then one day i started it up, and trust me the time limit barely matters, you have time + loads extra to do whatever you want, it shouldn't worry you at all. Once you get used to it, you'lle be fine. I recommend  you play them, they are great games, especially 2.

Meh, if that's the case I may pick them up one day....possibly lol. In fact, I think the only way I'd end up picking them up is if they did an "HD collection" of the two games for 360 or PS3.

Eh, yeah the graphics may be bad, but once you play it for more than a day, you get used to them, and then you start to appreciate the graphics style. Plus the music is very effective in immersing you in the world. The original Fallouts have a great soundtrack (some of the tracks are in New Vegas, but its more effective in 1&2).

There are mods that allow you to play in 1920x1080 on PC with higher res textures, etc., but for an old game like this with isometric view TBH it's never going to look great.

If you keep your eyes open for a sale, you can pick them up for $3 or $4 from gog or Steam.

In Fallout 1, It started with the first conflict (Water chip crisis) and ended with the second (Super mutant threat), both of which had timers.

Fallout 2 improved on this. When you solve the first problem, then you're free to do whatever you want and prepare to solve the second problem.

Time only flies when you're travelling so it doesn't really constitute the game that much. It's also worth noting that, to prevent players from dwelling on the same character, Black Isle set a timer for 13 years in which the game ends. By that time, you will be bored with your super-powered character in super-powered power armor with super-powered stats and a super-powered BOZAR.

I was very very excited when I heard Bethesda was going to release a Fallout 3. So I wasn't someone who hated it just by looking at it. I bought it on release CE even. But the more I played the more I realized this isn't anything like the Fallout I rememeber. The mechanics are all dumbed down there were hardly any perks that had bad side effects and a lot of great skills were removed. The exploration is not good even. Invisible walls everywhere and the story wasn't great. Fallout 1 and 2 were so different from anything at the time.

I haven't played New Vegas but I know some people from Black Isle worked on it so that's probably why it's better and I wanna give it a shot but I just don't care. I'd rather see the Fallout MMO if that ever happens.

I agree that is nothing like the originals, and yes, it pretty much pissed on what was the originals, but i hadn't played them, and i greatly enjoyed Fallout 3 by itself. I loved its world and exploration. I still love it now.

Also, New Vegas has Chris Avelone and Fergus Urqhart (not even going to try and spell that right), as well as J.E. Sawyer who was the lead on Van Buren the canceled Fallout 3. It is very close to the originals and improves on a lot of things from Fallout 3. More people from Black Isles work on NV than on the Fallout MMO, and Interplay are not the Interplay they used to be. Hell, they canceled Fallout 3 and decided to make Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and Tactics. Also they are near bankrupt and the MMO is likely to fail. New Vegas is probably much better.

We haven't had much new info other than game expo previews, so discussion topics are getting low. I'm really hoping for another big info leak that I can post here lol.

Here's a discussion topic! Shameless thread advertisement.
