Its October, not too long to go now!!   eeeee!!  :D  :D

Although knowing its so close will make the time drag a bit more.   Has the game gone Gold yet?

I know what your saying there 1 mo. 9 days left and we'll be finally playing the game. Haven't heard if it's gone Gold yet but if it hasn't it will real soon.  Hopefull Naughty will let us know as soon as he finds out.

Lots of great games coming out soon! I hope that BF3 will last until Skyrim, going to have some co-op fun with my bother. Anyway, I'd say that it's going gold in two weeks.

They are doing a speed run contest in the office to see who can finish skyrim the fastest using whatever tricks or exploits they learned after testing the game for a long time.

In the case of Oblivion, FO3, Morrowind, I think they went gold a week or two after the speed run competition.

I'm guessing 30 minutes or less for the main quest.

The fans will still find something to exploit

Morrowind was around 5 minutes
Oblivion in 12 minutes

I hope not, I hope the main quest is at least a couple of hours.

I'm sure one of the internal testers found an exploit or glitch to skip 99% of the game, lol.

They're talking about doing speedruns, where you use tricks and bugs to cause certain points in the storyline not to happen, so you can skip it.
I don't know any, but I know of one where you can prevent the emporer from being killed in the first place.

If you jump through the top of the temple of the one (that is what it's called right? The place where the dragonfires are supposed to be?) then it glitches and transports you to the time where martin septim is there and (spoilers) turns into the dragon and stuff. Basically alliowing you to finish the game. Provided you have an insane acrobatics skill augmented by enchantments or you use the paintbrush glitch.

I would imagine they probably need some way to get a powerful magic item in order to defeat Alduin at such a low level.

Not much longer till Skyrim is out.

I had a 400+ hour playthrough of Oblivion going until the game kept freezing and I had to abandon the playthrough. Hopefully nothing similar happens with Skyrim as I like to do and see everything and don't want the game performance to suffer the longer my playthrough becomes.

After playing the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games for the past few years, I'm eager to play a more open, sandbox style rpg again.

How long will everyone avoid the main quest? I found it easy in Morrowind and Oblivion (despite dialogue making it seem extremely urgent) but I'll definitely want some of those dragon shouts early on.

It depends on the story, but I might avoid completing the main quest for a few years. To some extent we will necessarily be progressing a bit in the main quest simply by absorbing dragon souls and learning new shouts.

I have played about 3 different characters in Oblivion, each lasting hundreds of hours and never completed very much of the main quest. In fact, I have stil never completed most of the guild questlines.

I'm planning to complete it before starting Skyrim, however.

I will see how it goes, I dont intend to start it right away, but if I end up in the location where the main plot continues I may start it off. As naughty is saying Skyrim is a game I have no intention of rushing. I expect my first few hours will be on the CC screen perfecting the features of my character.

Well now don't you think that you should get a move on then?Image IPB After all they guild quests will take a while in and of themselves as I learned. And remember only a month and just over a week before Skyrim is released. Image IPB

Sorry Naughty but picking on you seemed the right thing to do at the time.<LOL>

Actually I only completed the main quest in Oblivion with my main character a few days ago.  Took about 220 hours hehe  :P

I have a nice "60" over where it says Oblivion Gates closed though

Now was that for the whole game or just the main quest for which took you 220 hours?

Well getting sidetracked closing gates and doing other quests meant it took much longer then expected. I finished the main quest after 220, but I still have more things to do and finish off the Shivering Isles.

I really hope the Skyrim does some high fantasy DLC like Shivering Isles was

Todd stated that he wants bigger DLCs like the Shivering Isles or Knights of the Nine, so hopefully we don't get more horse armor lol.

Has anyone else completed Oblivion as a level 40 high elf at max difficulty? I have done that, and completed all guilds and almost all side quests, but everyone I talk to said its too hard to play as a High Elf being born under the Apprentice. I guess level doesn't matter, but has anyone else done that combination?

The start of the game was tough, but after grinding to get max stats (except luck) made the game too easy. I made spells that would destroy entire battalions of guards. And this was on the 360, not PC so I didn't use any mods or glitches.

I didn't think it was possible to do **** all on max difficulty in Oblivion.

All Max does for Oblivion is increase the grind really. As you point out Kabanya, once you get good enough your skills mean you can take down everything.

I will certainly play Skyrim on a harder difficulty. Its certainly looking more then just giving enemies buckets of HP and increased resistances that Oblivion was.
