I avoided the list in regard to spoilers, though I did gather some tidbits. It indeed does look like we are going to influence the outcome of the civil war. I wonder if us joining a side will influence the main story... drastically. Hopefully!!
Im not choosing a side until I talk to both sides. Don't you pick a faction in New Vegas?

I'm sure we'll get PC achievements through Steam.
This. Does Skyrim require Steamworks, btw?
Oh and people, what kind of character are you going to start off with? Will you roleplay (and if so, to what extent)?
Just interested in what you people will do.
I'm personally going after hunter/thief/assassin type character, who will kill innocents and steal if it pays off. Planning on roleplaying through the whole thing!

Anyway, I noticed two things about the achievments (spoiler etc):
They talk about some kind of Circle and I thought about the Circle of Magi in Dragon Age... maybe that's the mage's guild? That said, the Gatekeeper achievement for joining the College of Winterhold looks way more... mage-y. Maybe the Circle is actually the new Fighter's guild?
PS: Hail Sithis! doesn't sound as cool as Honor Thy Mother. Just sayin'.

Well, I guess the Stormcloaks/Imperial Army decision and the two (possibly impressive) captures that follow are the only real spoilers - and that only if you haven't really paid any attention to story news so far.Dhiro wrote...
Except for the Hero of Skyrim and such, I don't think the list was particulary spoilery.
Eh.
Anyway, someone asked what kind of character we'll play as first...
A Nord rebel focusing on One-Handed, Heavy Armor, Destruction, Restoration, Speech and Lockpicking.
Then a Khajit assassin focusing on Sneak, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Light Armor, Archery and One-Handed.
An Imperial similar in design to my Nord but fighting for the Empire would also be interesting.
After that a pure Thief Bosmer, a pure Mage Altmer, a pure Warrior Orsimer and possibly a jack-of-all-trades Dunmer. Although knowing me none of these (4rd-7th) play-throughs will be finished anytime soon if at all.
I currently don't plan on any Argonian, Redguard or Breton characters. (The humans would fight for the Empire, the Argonian would join the rebels.)

Im reluctant to look due to story achievements that may be listed. Normally these will be listed as "secret" as not to let you know. I dont think the website has done this.
However can someone list "casual" type achievements. Such as upgrade illiusion to lvl 50, or kill 10 chickens. Or whatever they are. Stuff that isnt quest related basically. I can then keep my eye out while im wandering the vast landscape before me
You mean, non spoiler? All those achievements are vague, but I'll do my best:
Pick 50 locks AND Pick 50 Pockets
Get Married
Reach Level 5, 10, 25, 50
Learn 20 Shouts
Learn all 3 Words to a Shout
Absorb 20 Dragon Souls
Collect 15 Daedric Artifacts
Read 50 Skill Books
Discover 100 areas
Get a Skill to 100 (I know which one I'm doing!)
Clear 50 Dungeons
Have 100,000 Gold (I imagine you need that much at once and it's not cumulative)
Bounty of 1000 Gold in all Holds (this'll be fun!)
Make Smithed Item, Enchanted Item, AND a Potion
Escape from Jail
Buy a House
Successfully Persuade, Bribe, AND Intimidate
Find 13 Standing Stones
Select a Standing Stone blessing
Chop Wood, Mine Ore, and cook food
Complete 10 Side Quests
Complete 50 Misc Items
Joined the Thieves Guild
Return the Thieves Guild to its former glory
Join the Dark Brotherhood

There are three achievements for each of the major faction questlines.
The Circle is part of the Companions questline.

Do it anyways, all of it, if someone doesn't want spoilers they don't have to read it lulz. And my god the players guide has 592 pages.Bryy_Miller wrote...

They're all pretty tame, though. A few *minor* spoilers that a few may consider major. No story spoilers.

Honestly, the ONLY way to play Orsimer is a pure Warrior, imo anyway. That also goes for Altmer, the only way to play is a pure Mage.
What about Bosmer? Do they play as pure derps?

For thieves...
Not really. In Morrowind, you could become head of the houses and guilds.
Semi-related note: Vivec was a horribly designed city.

Funnily enough I recently started a Bosmer archer in Oblivion and each time I miss an arrow shot I go "derp"

Remember those times that I said I would not pre-order?
Well, turns out I have $100 left over from selling my old computer.
So it's technically not a lie because I'm getting the game for free.

It's more like bartering then. I wonder if I can get Skyrim by trading in some chickens...or even better, a bushel of mudcrabs!
