I want it to be similar to Morrowind. Not your standard fantasy game, if you know what I mean.

More weapons, more different combat. Many more guilds than in Oblivion (closer to Morrowind) and loads of dungeons below. I loved them, especially zones like The Clockwork City, with traps that hit you and POW-HAHA! You are dead, not big surprise ;)

A less colorful atmosphere than Oblivion. Essentially more like Morrowind all around.

-Well one of my wishes, better character design and animations, is being addressed.

-It's on a new engine, that's good.

-Agree with Lauron and Mufflon on their points

-Really hope combat can be better in third person mode.

-No recycled areas

Morrowind sounds cool, and I should try it again. I was so put off by the poor collision detection/combat that I uninstalled after an hour of play. Pretty sure the game will be awesome no matter what though. Bethesda has been working in this for a while.

A plot.

The Emperor is killed in a plot instigated by the Mythic Dawn to get the Prince of Destruction, Dagon, to take over Tamriel, but before he died, the Emperor gives you the Amulet of Kings,  now you must find his heir which only the Emperor and that Blade/Priest fella know where is, and light the Dragonfires. You hand over the Amulet to the Blade/Priest fella who will protect it, then you find the lost heir, Martin, and return to the Blade/Priest fella. While you were gone, the Mythic Dawn took the Amulet, and is now in possession of Mankar Camoran, who has traveled to his Paradise.

You infiltrate the Mythic Dawn, trying to get the Amulet back, but Mankar leaves with the Amulet, but forgets his little spellbook which can tell you how to get to his Paradise. Then you give the book to Martin, and he starts telling you what is needed; several divine items. You search around for these, then finally, you have what you need to make a portal to Mankar's Paradise. You enter Paradise and have to get through it alive. Finally, you confront Mankar, which is the anchor for his Paradise, thus killing him, renders Paradise to ruin. Mankar dies and you return to Martin with the Amulet.

Now you have to light the Dragonfires, but before that, there's a little meeting. During this meeting, the Deadra floods into the Imperial City, looking for Martin. You escort Martin to the Temple of One, but Dagon has entered the mortal world, and there is nothing you can do. But Martin figures out he can use the Amulet with his own blood, sort of unleashing the holy of the holiest divinity act thing, and an avatar of Akatosh appear, and Akatosh manages to cast back Dagon into Oblivion and also seal it, removing the Oblivion threat. But while using the Amulet, Martin performed the ultimate sacrifice. But at the end of the day, all of Tamriel is safe again.

I don't know about you, but that sounds like a plot to me. At least as far as I remember it.

But what I really hope Skyrim will do, is to have the same level of sandbox gameplay, and interaction with the world, as to picking stuff up. I liked that.

I hope non-quest conversations are a little more in-depth...something beyond just asking about rumors.

Mounted combat, better AI, the return of the old raspy dunmer voice. All those, and bigger settlements.

This is all in comparison to ES IV: Oblivion.

I don't want people's faces to become more intense than the surface of the sun if I talk to them while holding a torch.

I want archery combat to be better than running backwards shooting arrows into someone.

I don't want perfectly scaling enemies (especially bandits) that start with junk armor at the beginning of the game and have nothing but magical glass armor at the end of the game.

I don't want animals to go extinct because I gained a level.

I want side quests that are more interesting/grow off of each other and can change the way the world is.

I don't want quest specific characters taking a stroll in a dark forest inhabited by giant trolls and end up with their picture on a milk carton.

I want more interesting characters.

I don't know if I buy the new engine claim yet. I seem to remember reading a Todd Howard remark a couple months ago that their next game was going to run on an updated version of gamebryo.

Better face morphing would be nice, Improved conversations, Possibly a Romance.

I don't remember was there a good/evil thing, like if you killed some villager did the other villagers start to hate/fear you or did the bouncers just come after you?

Oh god yes the faces!

Every face I mad looked like they'd been living in the ugly tree, fell out and hit every branch on the way down! Sometimes they looked ok from the front but turning to the side they were so squashed, I mean WTF!

And yes the same voice actors over and over, I bet those guys got paid a mint.

I tried to make a pale Emperial and she went orange, wtf?

WORK IT OUT PEOPLE!!!!

Yes that is what I heard as well.

However as to what I want to see in Skyrim, well....

-No level scaling, or at least no level scaling for dungeons and no bandits with uber gear. I dont want to see every dungeon scaled to my level with enemies and loot being determined by what level my character is at time, what is the point of leveling up when you can complete any dungeon easier at a lower level? Dungeons should have a set level and loot with harder dungeons forcing you to level up before you can really stand a chance in them. Also uber loot should not be handed out like candy as soon as you reach a certain level.

-Better rewards for thievery. One of my favorite things about Morrowind was sneaking around exploring buildings and houses and finding valuble objects that I could pinch from under the owners nose, while I understand why Bethesda nerfed this in Oblivion (lets face it, theivery in Morrowind was a tad unbalanced) they went way too far and made theivery pretty much worthless. With the improved stealth system and whatnot Oblivion had the perfect oportunity to make the theivery portion of the game really shine where if the player was inclined to do some detective work and listen to the idle gossip of the townsfolk he may hear a few tips as to where some good loot could be found, unfortunately this was not the case. While the player could hear rumours in Imperial City of a collector who has a large collection of Aylied artifacts or overhear a guard telling another guard about his new mythril greaves that he has in the barracks and whatnot, but upon actually searching the collectors house and the barracks you learn that the collector actually has nothing and expects you to find the artifacts for him and the mythril greaves in the barracks are in fact a lie, also you may remember the locked display cabinets in the fighters guild that contained what looked like elven and glass weapons however upon opening them you find they are just cheap replicas that break after one hit (however I must admit this was quite amusing at first).

-Consequences for my actions. Now I dont know about you guys but I for one would like to see some consequences for my actions, personally I thought it was a bit cheesy how in Oblivion you could do pretty much everything and join every guild with little consequence. I want to see conflict between the guilds, if you join one guild you may be barred from joining certain othe guilds, for instance if you have a reputation as being a murderer and a psycho working for the Dark Brotherhood you may be barred from joining the Fighters Guild or Imperial Legion, I would also like to see certain quests clash with each other and certain quests only open up if you have a reputation for being a certain way, I would also like to be able to kill plot essential NPCs.

-A well writen and meaningful plot and interesting NPCs. I would like to see this but it is Bethesda we are talking about so I think it is safe to say we have no chance of this happening.

There are also plenty of other things I would like to see, more character customization is a given, bigger variety of voice actors, perhaps a perk and scar system, but the list is endless so I think I will just leave it at that.

I would defintetly like more complex combat. Hitting the attack button over and over again gets old. I would also like better facial animations during conversations. A problem I had with both Oblivion and Morrowind, was that the game style was pretty hostile to newcomers. In morrowind, I have tried so hard to get into the fighters guild, and I still don't know how.

Ladders that you can actually climb, not just click and *poof* you're at the top. Kinda ridiculous that they never managed to get proper ladders in the engine, and yes, they've said they tried.

The Radiant AI to be a little more radiant and a little less stupid.

Also, a better stealth system.
So for the development of Oblivion they hired a guy who had worked on the Thief games, to help improve the game's stealth system....yay, I'm all excited when I read that....only to find out when the game is finally out that the stealth system is still utterly simplistic and barely improved over Morrowind.

Right, I guess I should have payed more attention to the trailer.

Anyway I forgot to add the most important thing to my list and the one thing this game cant do without, Epic Beards.
