I seem to remember reading that they are taking hand to hand a little more seriously and including perks such as substantially increased damage when wearing heavy gauntlets. There would definitely be something satisfying about that.
I think the combat in Oblivion was in desperate need of being like Mount & Blade combat - both in terms of scale and having the combat mechanics.
I think that a sandbox TES game with that could be the perfect game, give or take half a Gb of mods to fix it.
We can but dream.
if they wanted to make it perfect it would never come out, theres always way to improve stuff in big and small ways
Oh, I wasn't bemoaning the likely need for mods really, it's expected, right?

So anyone decided on what class/gender they're going to play? I might do a male Argonian or a female Nord.
Probably a True Neutral male Nord called Elric with paper-white hair and skin, a penchant for potions to make him strong - as well as summoning magic - and at the earliest possible opportunity, a large enchanted black sword.
...but I haven't really given it much thought

Imperial, female.
Shes going to be a bit of a Jack of all trades character because I cant decide my class
She will probably switch between archery, dual wielding and illusion magic I suspect.

Stealth archer and assassin( you know, blades and stuff).
Only magic I'll bother is one that heals me.

Well, the Skyrim speedrun finished, and the final times were-
2:16:10
2:16:30
Quite a bit longer than the speed runs of earlier games.
That tells me Skyrim is chock full of awesome.

So, apparently Bethesda does this speed run thing every time one of their games is about to come out?

Hours, Minutes, Seconds.

The top time is a lot slower than I anticipated. Must not have found a glitch to skip 99% of the content.

A female Bosmer or Nord. Archery looks fun, but so does magic...

LOL, that would be quite interesting if the speed run took 2 days, 31 hours

For a second I though that speedrun took 2 days and 16 hours.
Now that would be amazing.

First I will be a Male Nord, mostly focused on combat and Restoration magic.
Then a Male Argonian, mostly focused on Stealth and magic accompanied to it.

That wouldn't even be a speedrun, it'd just be a really fast playthrough. Hah.
Imagine it though, if an actual speedrun took that long.
The game would be HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

You mean like how the Morrowind speedruns were 5 minutes long?

If they really wanted to up the speedrun time, just could put in plenty of mandatory traveling back and forth and some unskippable videos. Doesn't make the game any better of course.
Then again, Bethesda usually delivers quite meaty games with lots to do, so I'm not really worried about that at all. When it's them I'm more worried about the game mechanics and technical stuff like bugs. No offense to any Bethesda fans. I'm actually a fan of them myself, but not to the extent that I can't see that they have had significant problems with bugs in the past.

I have a bunch of ideas, it's hard to choose one at the moment. Doesn't help that I really like the new look they have given a bunch of the races (or rather, the better graphics).
A few of my favoured ideas are: A Female Altmer battlemage, a sneaky male Breton alchemist, and an old school Khajit thief (male).

What's interesting about that speedrun is the winning player beat it with a level 1 character... epic fail, Alduin. Epic. Fail.
Yep, hahaha. The other guy was a Level 4. The fact that the boss can be beat by a noob character is hilarious.
To be fair, the players have played the game like 1000 times(exaggerating). One was a dev and the other was a QA tester.

The world record Morrowind speedrun doesn't use glitches. The player just makes clever use of various scrolls to fly halfway and teleport across the map, and the Boots of Blinding Speed.
Do you not count the time it takes to get those scrolls and the Boots of Blinding Speed?
The stuff about the noob beating the final boss is just a sad sideeffect of scaling. Honestly I prefer the way it was in many older RPGs. If your level is not high enough, too bad. If you can go anywhere at level 1, it ruins your sense of achievement. I had hoped they had learned this lesson from Oblivion, but I guess not.
