Then again, they did both play with the Master race, High Elf.

I hate High Elf. Not only do I hate their snobbish attitudes, I hate the fact that they're so good at magic and when magic is thrown back at them, it's like kryptonite.

Epic win- Killing the final boss with a punch from a Level 1 character.

LOL I would hope that's impossible.

Yes but I would have thought that it wouldn't have been possible to kill off the final boss with a level 1 or level 4 PC either but it seems to have been done. Maybe the bosses aren't going to be much like bosses in Skyrim either. I know that they haven't been in Oblivion.

So anyone decided on what class/gender they're going to play? I might do a male Argonian or a female Nord.

Male Nord spellsword type
Female Breton pure mage
Male Argonian probably a thief or assassin.

Honestly, I think its possible and can be done. Crazy if you try, but there you go.

If this were possible without exploiting some sort of strange glitch, then it would seem to indicate a massive problem with gameplay mechanics requiring a patch or mod to correct the balance.

I would hope that Alduin is still a tremendously challenging opponent even after playing the game for hundreds of hours and reaching a high level.

Well to be honest, its possible only as long as there's no rule like, "punching=no damage to final boss".

As long as punching does damage and you can bring him down to a sliver of health, its theoretically possible.

But still crazy. And totally deserves a video on youtube of it being done.

Its not just Alduin that concerns me about this. I'd imagine they had to take on atleast a couple of ordinary dragons along the way and killed them at level 1-4. That doesn't sound too good.

I wouldn't be worried about the speedrun. The guys who did this are QA testers who make use of glitches and weird exploits they discovered after playing the game for 1000s of hours.

I think the key here is that both played as High Elf. They must've used magic only, and since they know the game in and out, they must know how to get the most powerful spells, magic items, etc.

Or maybe there is a way to beat Alduin non-directly. After all, he's a god... and Dagoth Ur and Mehrunes Dagon couldn't be beaten directly either. Maybe like in Dragon Age, you need to gather allies for the final showdown with Alduin.

The stuff about the noob beating the
final boss is just a sad sideeffect of scaling. Honestly I prefer the
way it was in many older RPGs. If your level is not high enough, too
bad. If you can go anywhere at level 1, it ruins your sense of
achievement. I had hoped they had learned this lesson from Oblivion, but
I guess not.

But the guys that played are not noobs. They're developers that have been playing the game for years.

It would be interesting to watch a "slow-run" - time lapse video of someone who takes 1000 hours to beat the game on the hardest difficulty setting, clearing each of the 150+ dungeons, completing all the hundreds of side quests, etc.

And it has nothing to do with level scaling anyway.

On the old Bioware boards we had a  "no exp" challenge for BG1.  And it turned out that  Serevok can, in fact,  be beaten with a level 1 mage.

Whatever. All I know is, the main quest is probably a little beefier if it took 2+ hours to beat it in a speedrun compared to previous games smaller times(FO3, Oblivion, etc etc).

I want to learn more about this Eldric Stormcloak fella. We haven't learned a single thing about him since the Game Informer coverage in January.

Here is a dumb little thread I made. Guess the thread reference correctly and win a fabulous prize!

Virumor- Supposedly the final boss in Sl Dlc was a god as well You know the Mad God aka Jygalag<sp?> I killed him in just two hits with a fine madness long sword wearing daedric armor. And this was on the pc with the hardest level settings. As for Dagoth Ur or Mehrunes Dagon I don't remember fighting them as of yet. I've recently just started the Main quest of the game first run through. And if they are part of the main quest than I guess I've got them to look forward to. Hopefully they are harder than what I've come across so far,

I'm surprised with all the mods for which have been put out someone hasn't put one out that makes the boss fights in the game allot more of a challange.

What "Golden Galeon" Guest are you referring to in Oblivion? I don't remember this quest at all. Or is this a DLC?

Half the fun has been ruined for you though. The best part was not seeing it coming and ending up in the middle of the ocean!

I'd never do it normally though; there's an abandoned house to sleep in half a block away, for free.

You know what would be awesome? if when you sleep in places like that, people steal stuff from you.
