I saw the (very brief) new footage...looks like a potential new dragon and battle with a frost atronach *sp*. The fireball spell looks hard hitting this time....I wonder if force of the fireball depends on your skill in Destruction. I'm going to level and perk all five Schools of Magicka pretty hard but Destruction always takes priority with me, along with Restoration. I'm really, really glad new footage is potentially coming Thursday, I've been yearning for some from fresh non-spoilerific footage to help quench some of the excitement.

I'd like to see one of the new dungeon booby-traps in action. Just one. I also am curious to see just brief footage of looting and Enchanting. And of The Reach.

ErichHartman- As for the vampirisim in the game talked to lots of folks that played and tried it and it didn't interest them either.<G> Not sure on the werewolf bit though. I heard you can play that way in Morrowind; as of yet not played it, have the game here though.

Now as for Steam it sounds like a pain in the rear end having to set up an account with them After all I've got enough accounts and Passwords that I've got to remember and now they want me to have to remember another one just to play one game. What in the world possesed Bethesda to go with Steam any way? After all I didn't have to do that with Oblivion and I doubt that I've got to do it with Morrowind. Or are those two games before Steam's time?

I'm fairly certain Steam was around at the time  Oblivion  came out.  Not sure about Morrowind.

But personally, I  *love* steam.  IMO, it just may be the greatest invention in the gaming industry in the last decade.  And if Bethesda wants to use steam activation as their DRM, then  kudos to them.  They took the *cool* route.

Anyway, to answer your gripes.  It's not a "pain in the rear".   Registering an account with Steam is just like registering an account  right here on BSN or on EA  (which you have to do for your Bioware games)  You give them your username, password, and email address and that's it.  You got an account.  And you only need to "remember" your password *once*...  during activation when you first install the game.  You don't need to Log on to Steam every time you play.

But you wanna know the *really* good thing about  this?  No hassle patching of the game.    All patches and updates to the game are automatically downloaded and installed on your computer whenever you start up the game.

From what I understand, the vast majority of PC copies sold these days are digital downloads (something like a 6 to 1 ratio IIRC) and it seems that Steam takes a smaller distribution fee for games that are Steamworks exclusives. So there is some financial benefit, separately from the benefit of Steamworks antipiracy/release control features, etc.

AFAIK, all games released by Bethesda since Fallout New Vegas have incorporated Steamworks for the PC versions.

Agreed on all counts, its an easy way to have DRM, and the only hassle is creating separate support accounts which is really stupid. But it takes all the hassle out of managing game updates. And the best thing for those of us not in the US is that we can take advantage of the better deals on offer from other retailers and activate it on Steam eg. for those of us in Australia its $89 to pre-order on Steam, I pre-ordered the disc version for $42.

Well now will have to admit that as for udating of the game it sounds like it would be a great idea. But the fact of having to memorize another pw is what tans my hide.<LOL> Well I guess when I get the game I'll have to go along with the program and join steam. I just hope that they don't flood me with junk emails I get enough of them already. Now if steam would allow me to purchase a few of the DLCs for which I want to buy without having to buy Oblivion all over again that wouldn't be bad.

I'm a steam user anyway, so I guess it's ok with me! It allows me to take and share screenshots, chat with my friends, etc while in game. And as a person who can't ever remember her passwords...thankfully I haven't needed to since I signed up. It remembers and automatically logs me in.

Also...awesome pics! :D Very excited.

Is that the famous aurora?

Looks nice.  I hope once you go far enough for dragons to appear that you don't have to continue the story to unlock more.

Don't worry, Steam won't flood you.  The only e-mails I get from them is if I order something or want to change my password.

My only problem is games don't get their own folders like if you bought the physical copy.

Thanks for sharing all the great pics. I so hope that 11/11 gets here soon. I so want to play it.

Cmessaz/RPGamer13- Will have to admit that I like the fact that Steam remembers your password for you that sure helps out allot. Especially when we've got so many to remember as it is now.<G> Also glad to hear that Steam don't flood you with junkmail. What does steam do dump everything into one folder no matter how many games you buy from them? I wouldn't like that there at all.

Hey don't worry about it. It looks like a Program Files sub-folder inside Steam folder. Steam has only one negative fact for me and that is about achievements. Some games have troubles about getting the achievement at the right time.

I thought that the game achievements were only for the console games. Except for DA which has the for the c as well. Well yes as long as you don't buy for example DA1 DA2, Skyrim, and Oblivion and they put them all in the same exact subfolder. That there could get ugly.

I hope so!  I want more of a challenge then that already!! :D

Im glad to hear Mehrunes Razor return.  Daedric Banishing and now Daggers also do x15 sneak damage with the right perk. That thing will be awesome!   Also hearing it return makes me optimistic Goldbrand will also come back.  I loved that sword!
