Come one Bioware...pull your finger out and get with the act guys.....I know graphics are not the be all and end all, but we are in 2011 for Christ sakes....if I can have my graphical cake and play it...I damn well will do and forget about games that look 5 years old.
Can't wait for this, looks stunning.

I don't get why Oblivion gets all sorts of crap for supposed lack of plot, I thought the plot was great and fit very well. True, it's very cliche and not original, but I thought the telling of that same type of tale was original.
What I care about most is expanding the number of guilds. There were too few guilds in Oblivion, and players could have benefitted from picking sides such as Fighters Guild/Blackwood Company, Mages Guild/Necromancers, and even Dark Brotherhood/helping Mathieu Bellamont take his revenge. Thats probably the only thing I truly missed from Morrowind, was the number of factions/guilds and the fact that you could pick sides in faction wars. If this is brought back, I'll preorder this game ASAP
Other things I hope to see fixed: being a vampire while not changing the skin and facial structure too drastically (I have a female redguard vampire, and not thinking I had to, I didn't mess with the facial hair sliders, and I realized I should have when I saw that my vampire character has a goatee on her fact... argh), character creation lighting (as others have mentioned). Its impossible to get the exact skintone you want because the light from the torch in the prison cell changes the skin tone's color, and finally as mentioned before I want low-level animals to remain after leveling.
Otherwise, I'm very excitedly anticipating this game.

I agree, in fact two of my all time favorite quests from any RPG were in Oblivion. "Paranoia" and "Whodunit" were the most well-written and engaging quests I've encountered in any game.

Considering that the main quest will take place against the backdrop of a civil war, I would be very surprised if the PC is not forced to take sides. I think the reason they have not announced details on the factions yet is because the devs are still playing around with a lot of different permutations.
I completely agree regarding the generic guilds. Would love to see many more factions with cool names and difficult choices (for example, if you side with one faction, you lose out on unique items or perks from joining the other).
Regarding the ugly vampirism thing, I had to install a small mod for Oblivion that corrected this problem. It should not be a problem in Skyrim and my understanding is that all NPCs across the board have much better looking realistic faces.

Also, the Orc reminds me of the Mordor Orcs from The Lord of The Rings.

Lord, this again? Hopefully by release they get some good combat animations going. Bethesda seems to have a really hard time with this.

Attributes: removed. You now have health, magick, and stamina limits how much you can spam attacks.
Skills: mostly removed. Press button to sprint.
Weapon skills: all feed into a single "experience pool" which levels your character...for what reason I'm unsure. I suppose leveling gives you more of your three colored bars?
BEST RPG EVAR? What ****. This game is a farce. makes DA2 look like the Baldur's Gate saga.
The game's strongest point is being able to equip whatever you want to each hand. I would say I'm going to dual wield shields and spam shield bash to max level, but I don't think I'm even going to play the game after reading what I've read today.

That said, I am worried about taking things out such as Acrobatics... I mean, without Acrobatics, are we all going to be jumping only 2 feet off the ground and risk death from even one-story buildings?

It's likely athletics/acrobatics will both be governed by some of the hundreds of perks in the game.PureMethodActor wrote...

I'm really worried about this, the combat in Oblivion was my second biggest gripe in Oblivion (first being the overall boring world). There was really no thought needed in anything you did in the combat, just slash your sword and watch your opponents health deplete, block if necessary. And sometimes it felt like the blows didn't even do anything. There was really no visual impact on the enemy besides the health bar, sure there was some staggering on occasion, but that's about it. From the looks of it, at least the combat animations are miles better than what it was in it's predecessor... Well here's hoping the zero g gravity is gone at least.
ps. and hurray for dual wield!

I take it you never played Oblivion or Fallout 3. They're both great games, but they're great in spite of their plots, not because of them.
Oblivion's was the most generic fantasy plot you can get without a can opener.
Fallout 3's had potential but ended up being a two-dimensional "YOU MUST BE THE WHITE KNIGHT OF JUSTICE" thing like Oblivion, with the FEV in the water tacked on just so they could technically claim they weren't railroading you. Keeping in mind that in the original Fallout, you weren't required to destroy the Master, you could also side with the Master and betray your vault to the super mutant army.

It was initially a bit shocking, but on reflection, most of the attributes either affected Health/Magicka/Stamina or provided perks.
So incorporating the same perks into the skill trees and having the PC allocate points directly to health/magicka/stamina at each level up makes sense.
:wizard:Here is a list of all the new info from the latest flurry of articles on April 18 (painstakingly compiled by Bethsoft forum member Biseratops):
-Dragon Born means you were born with the soul of a dragon.
-The 8 basic attributes from Oblivion have indeed been removed. They are replaced in function and purpose by the health, stamina, and magicka increase option at level up, and possibly perks.
-Each shout has 3 levels of power, depending on how many words of the shout you've learned. You can "charge" your shout by holding the shout button; the longer you hold it, the more powerful/higher level the shout you produce will be. The higher level the shout, the longer it will be until you can perform any shout again (universal cooldown).
-Some bodies of water in the game will be populated by fish that jump out of the water to travel upstream.
-The map in the game is a 3D rendering of the actual game world.
-Perk for zooming in with bow was mentioned previously, in these articles we discover there is also a slow-motion perk for bow to line up a shot (described as being similar to Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption).
-All (or the obvious majority) of the quests are hand-written, but have radiant story elements mixed in.
-When you start the game the only options you’re given is what you look like. You pick your race, which come with certain benefits, and then you choose your look.
-The main goal of radiant story is to get you to do things you haven't already done.
-"We’re still messing with the economy system. On paper it always seems like a good idea but you too want it to be too granular because all that’s happened is an arrow is a gold piece cheaper. So what we’re trying to do is remove it entirely so there are new arrows. There’s mines that can affect weapons, farms that affect food and alchemy. We have all that working but we haven’t found the gameplay sweet spot yet. We’re still playing with that."
-"We have boats but you can’t sail them around."
-"Horses have come a long way in game so we want to make sure we’re paying off on that. It’s paying off right now, but if it doesn’t work we’ll pull it."
-At last count, the game has about 140 dungeon dungeons and another 100+ "points of interest."
-All dragons speak in their own language and you can hear it; some speak english.
-Magical energies of whatever spell is equipped ripple through your hands onscreen like BioShock's plasmids.
-Orcs look epic.
-You can knock oil lamps from the ceiling, which will then cause fire damage, or try to catch your enemies on spikes (interactive environments).
-Spell combination is confirmed. The example given is chain lightning in each hand cast at the same time makes a ball of energy form in front of the caster and obliterate everything.
-Riddles must be solved to open various doors, such as rotating pillars correctly or rotating rings on a door to show correct symbols. The answer is often found by examining inventory items (you can zoom in on them in 3D with the new system), which might have the correct symbols etched into them.
-Butterflies will fly around beautiful new flowers which can be picked for alchemical purposes.
-3rd Person anims vastly improved. 3d Person now appears to be viable option.
-You can listen in on hostile enemies' convos when in stealth mode, many of which are relevant to your current quest.
-Spells like frost rune (a trap-like glyph that is placed on the ground) can be learned by reading spell tomes or something similar. (Not mentioned directly)
-Soul gems make a return.
-Buying properties confirmed.
-Elven glass sword mentioned.( I don't know if that is actually it's name or just what the interviewers from Eurogamer thought)
-Something just exploded in my pants and I am 12 what is this?
-Confused turtle mode back in.[Note: I have no idea what this means]
-Improved AI.
-Improved graphics, animations, lighting, shadows, etc...
-Its a big game.

Todd Howard actually gave a reasonable explanation for those things you listed.
The thing about attributes was that their only real purpose was that you would be upgraded in things like health, magicka, or speed. It basically was just an indirect way to affect things that you actively need. With the new perk system, you pick those upgrades and bonuses directly, so you don't need the "middleman" of attributes in order to be stronger. Ask yourself, why did you upgrade intelligence? It was probably because it affected magic. Why did you upgrade Endurance? Probably to get more health. Things that used to be handled by attributes (like mana regeneration or running speed) will now be handled by perks.
People are getting this notion that things have been taken out, but really all that is happening is that those things are being moved to perks instead of attributes.
Also, how are skills mostly removed? They brought back all of Oblivion's magic skills, plus Enchantment. And the combat skills have been re-catagorized but they still exist.
