The internet is not complaining that Skyrim is only 6GB when DA2 was only 7GB? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

This shocks me.

Not sure I understand your sarcasm here.  There were plenty of chicken-little, "the sky is falling!" complaints about DA2 when its system specs were announced.  just like there is today with Skyrim.

Of course in DA2's case, the reason why  its HDD requirement was so "low" had nothing to do with any 'super advanced compression' or whatever, but that's a different discussion.

Here is 11 more minutes of footage, including views of Khajiit, Argonian and Breton NPCs:

You cannot hear the NPC dialogue in this footage, however.

SWEET! :o

Too... much... epic....

Indeed. When they were showing footage of the cities, my eyes were just wide and I just kept silent.

Awesome stuff.

I'm wondering how they can do it. That does seem small to me for a supposedly massive game. My BF3 install was like 13 gigs...

You guys don't expect low resolution textures by now? It's one of the things modders always have to improve with Bethesda games.

That and improved .bsa compression probably account for the install size.

Let's remember that TES games usually use some... ah, not-particulary-high textures, wich are usually upgraded by modders.

Anyone knows how many GBs Oblivion had?

EDIT: Ninja'd by the cutest dog ever.

Just saw the new G4 videos. The cities are varied and rich...so much detail and lore visible. The voice acting seems stellar and did you see how every friggin single object had a perfectly rendered shadow where appropriate? I saw a grate in one of the towns that is most likely a sewer drain that no doubt leads to an intricate and expansive network of tunnels underneath the town.

I wonder if I'm ever going to have a life starting 11-11-11. I literally used a vacation day Friday so I can play from Friday at 12 AM to Sunday night undisturbed. I mean, I might order pizza or something, and I'll eat and bathe and sleep, but that first weekend I will probably log 40 hours.

16 MORE DAYS

Hell yeah man! I already told my boss I'm going to have pneumonia that friday!

But seriously though, I will likely call in sick that day so I can get 1 extra day.

I couldn't agree with you more. I hope that there's lots more things like that throughout the game. Be nice to finally see some actual blood when you kill someone or something. I mean come on now if you're going to get an M rating might as well go all the way. Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

At least there's no Texture Pop, god I hate that...

That's stupid, I have to use Safari to view those videos. What the hell? Why won't it play in Firefox?

The neck size on that one Argonian NPC looks a lot better than the images, so hopefully the female necks aren't as scrawny as they look in the promo images of different variations of each race from the character creator.

They gave that exact reason for the size.

Honestly, I can't even make a joke about the pickiness of gaming culture without someone going "BUT DA2 WAS BAD FOR REALS!!!!". And they say people that LIKED Dragon Age 2 are rabid.

Yeah, exactly the same reason.

But I have a feeling that while questioning DA 2's actual size and content because of the HDD requirement may be valid (and was proven to be so - it had much less content overall than Origins), I somehow doubt that one could get away with claiming that Skyrim is going to be a small game with not as much content.

If install size would be indicative of a game's content and quality, Rage would be GOTY.

You ain't kidding. For the PS3, that must've taken at least 10 minutes to install, probably more. The simple solution? Wait 15 days and find out the answer. It's freaking skyrim, we're all going to buy it anyways. :P

Virumor- As for Rage I wouldn't know as I had to look up the game on gamestop's site to find out about it and learned it's an FPS game one for which don't interest me.

DominusVita- And then there are some like myself thats already pre-ordered and paid for the game.<G>

Yeah, Rage is an FPS and apparently has character customization, but you can only play a dude.

I got this pre-ordered on Steam seing as Instruction Manuals now appear to be either non-existent or relegated to online and the game is going to be installed through Steam no matter what. Also, the internet used for authentication purposes eliminates the need to require a disc to boot the game anyway.

Yes I did find out that Rage was an FPS curiousity got the best of me and thought maybe I was missing out on another great RPG.

At the time for which I pre-ordered and paid for Skyrim I didn't realize that they would be going through steam. Of course I don't think that it had been mentioned at the time.  Like the fact that once you install the game you can put the game disk away and still play it. I've got a few games for which I don't need the disk for. As for me I'm currently finishing up the first time in Oblivion and have closed 57 of the gates. Now they say that there are 60 gates not sure if they are including the great Oblivion gate I heard about or not. But so far have yet to find any more gates open.

I feel a ' Gone Gold' announcement coming really soon.  My gut is telling me that Skyrim's gonna go gold either today or tomorrow.

Then we'll see some real, hard-core e-hype happening on the internet.

The game hasn't gone gold yet? Isn't it out in sixteen days?

Indeed, I would of expected it to have gone gold a few days ago. They must be very confident and prepared to make sure it hits stores in time worldwide!!
