Indeed, I would of expected it to have gone gold a few days ago. They must be very confident and prepared to make sure it hits stores in time worldwide!!

I'd have thought that it would've went gold already as well. Once it goes gold our long wait will soon be over and we'll have it in our hot little hands ready to load and play.Image IPB

You guys don't expect low resolution textures by now? It's one of the things modders always have to improve with Bethesda games.

That and improved .bsa compression probably account for the install size.

I do expect low resolution textures. However, it is about 500 MB larger than Oblivion with all DLC's and Shivering Isles so that's and improvement most likely. On the other hand size doesn't really tell anything about the game. I'm looking at you, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (28,9 effin gigabytes).

Wasn't that game like two hours?

It is short. Probably around 5, I can't really remember the exact time.

@Redneck, you mentioned you built a number of desktops in the past. Do you have an idea which mobile graphics cards are roughly equivalent to a desktop GTX 260?

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M/460M would most likely offer similar performance. GT 445M and GT 555M would be a bit slower, but have DX11 support.

Eh I think I am going to wait a month or two after the game is released to allow patches and modders to have their way with the game first.

How about on the AMD side?

5850m/5870m?

They've really improved character models (and voice acting seems a lot less worse). The crafting animations really make the difference between tedious and actually entertaining this time, I'll definitely go for it (I never crafted much in Oblivion, be it spells, potions or repairs, felt too much like a bunch of menus, not RP enough). I've always been a pretty cautious kid but I'm going particularly out of my way to *not die* before 11/11/11 :).

EDIT : the environments too look absolutely amazing, not sure why they were so conservative about showing us those before ; until now it all felt a bit like a Cyrodiil 2.0 with snow and dragons (which I was fine with !), but now I can feel a sense that it's a different world with its own mystique, just like Morrowind was.

I have a 6970m and I barely can run The Witcher 2 on Ultra, with some tweaks.  But that game also seems to be more processor dependant than other games.

Also, that's on 1920 x 1080 which is my laptop's natural resolution.  And apparently, the 6000 series generates more heat than the 5000 series so apparently it's only suitable for larger laptops with good cooling solutions.

I also hear even it isn't as good as the 485M and up cards from Nvidia.

So as a random side question, for my first playthrough I plan on playing a long-sword dual-wielding Dunmer, relying on Magic Schools as "backup". Obviously dual-wielding is in the game, but does anyone know if Bethesda has announced any limitations with regard to main-hand/off-hand abilities?

Ex: In DA:O, characters can only dual wield a main hand/off-hand weapon until they attain the proper feats to allow them to wield two main hand weapons. Do we know if Skyrim has anything similar?

Good, good. I want to be carving people up with dual swords as soon as humanly possible. Image IPB

Even more interesting (to me):

I really hope they give us the option to keep that bug active ... will make life in Skyrim a blast.

Finally got around to pre-ordering it! :o

Hopefully we can behead people like that too.

I could see the intro featuring something like you're next in line for beheading, when a member of the Blades bursts onto the scene and kills the attackers, at which point you escape with him. Seems very Bethesda-like, at least.

Saw a post on Facebook from TES that the strategy guide from Prima is....wait for it...over 650 pages. Hot damn! I wouldn't even think about using it or touching it at all, but that's mighty massive.

Probably very soon, if we have a tutorial dungeon like in Oblivion.
