It was my impression that the game mechanics were redesigned, but it's always hard to know exactly how things like scaling will work until you get your hands on the game. The mechanics were just messed up in Oblivion. Even Oblivion fans know there's something wrong. Ask one and you'll get a huge list of mods that you MUST HAVE in order to tolerate the game.KenKenpachi wrote...
Oblivion had plenty of good lore, but thats opinion I guess, and if you hated Oblivion (Which I loved while hating Morrowind for its crappy interface) then I'm not sure if you'll like Skyrim, given its mechanics have more in line with Oblivion, but more stream lined.
The scaling was the biggest problem for me. I want to become more powerful when I level up, not the opposite. That wasn't the case in Oblivion, and if they keep those awful gameplay mechanics in Skyrim, they basically ruined it for me. It's not that I want less challenge when I level up, by the way. It's just stupid that you have to seriously plan your leveling to even keep up with common robbers asking for small change.
Actully I have no clue what you mean on either of those, one I'm one of those "Dirtty Console players" as some would say. And two I specialized my character down a very narrow path and as I leveled up I never ran into any major problems, In fact I tended to kill most things in 5 hits or less. So I don't know what you mean in that reguards at all.
As to that I ment the leveling and stat mechanics, the leveling has changed, but the number of items you need to stat have been reduced from Oblivion which in turn was reduced from MW.
I read that as redguards.

The things I didn't like about Oblivion seemed to have been corrected:
Skills like Athleticism taking literally FOREVER to level up and max out. Why even have it then?
Graphics. The graphics already look 100x better than Oblivion, espcially the characters.
Third Person is now viable and even some of the developers enjoy playing it in third person so I don't think I have any problems there.
But it does certainly depend why you didn't like Oblivion.

I had Oblivion on console too.
My first character, I couldn't play above the lowest setting because even the weakest of enemies could dominate my character if I moved the slider up to a higher difficulty. I just didn't exactly know how everything worked.
If you don't know how everything worked, it was very easy to get a character build with a high level, but low survivability.
If you're going to do scaling, there needs to be a mix. And different scaling for different types of enemies.
There should be bosses that at least have a minimum level as to provide a challenge and that only scales after you reach this minimum level. Then there should be some exceptionally strong large enemies, etc.
That way there's some variety and bosses aren't just trivial encounters and you run into enemies that you're like, oh I've got to get stronger and therefore, more likely to be more interesting to beat.

So I've decided to give my character a theme.
THIS is excellent. Thanks for the share. And yes, it would make a great theme.
Ha, no problem.
I like that it fits within the lore and style of music you'd get in a TES game. Makes it more immersive and sensible.

In game lore, Bethesda better not be breaking lore

You could just say it was mixed breeding that did it.

I'm going Imperial simply because this is my first TES and I've heard they are great for starting out with.

Actually, I think races won't matter that much in Skyrim, now that the attributes are gone. Of course, the more-money thingie will be handy for begginers, I think.

Well, I'll be tinkering with the Character Creator. If I can make a good looking Imperial, then great. If not, I'll head elsewhere and try to make a good looking character of another race.
