All these people have the game and are discussing it. Anyone else feel a jealous rage coming on? Of is it just me?

I wonder just how many people have already gotten Skyrim and are playing it. Must be a lot, tons, even. Because the Bethesda forums have opened up their gameplay hints and spoilers section and already it has 133 threads and almost 4000 posts -- there's people discussing the tutorial; people discussing the character creater; people discussing Vampirism; people discussing their thoughts about the opening dungeon... etc.

Nope.

And there is still over a week to go. I *really* wish they would move the release date up a week.

Wait why do so many people have it already?
The XBOX360 version was leaked, somehow. Some people blame the journalists, but who really know?

I don't think Skyrim has a hardcore mode unfortunately. But i'm no expert. I'm sure Naughty would know though.LPPrince wrote...
What about companions? Is there anything like them being immortal on easier modes but mortal on harder modes?
Btw, here's a little hands on for you guys/gals www.ripten.com/2011/10/29/three-hours-with-skyrim-two-brave-bosmers-and-one-lying-khajiit/
Greaty hands on! Man that is quite the adventure, especially loved the part where he got lost in a blizzard.
You see this is why elder scroll games are so great. You unintentionally make your adventure! This guy had a goal he wanted to reach within his limit... He gets an unexpected companion, has a great journey, and ends up with such a great story to tell.
This is why I love the games.

I don't want to reveal any spoilers (there are some things I really wish I hadn't seen) but let me say that after watching about 4 hours of gameplay, I'm even more excited about this game than I ever was before.
I was surprised to see how much of a massive improvement it is over both Oblivion and Morrowind, in so many ways. I'm certain Skyrim will be regarded as a sort of gaming industry milestone. Clearly a lot of TLC has gone into this project; it's not just another product being brought to market.
Much better story, more lifelike, engaging NPCs and factions, I suppose you could say it has more of a "soul" than the previous games in the Elder Scrolls franchise. All the crafting is also massively improved and it looked like an epic game even on a crappy flash video stream. And the shouts are not "just another kind of magic," as some people worried - it is a whole different animal from spell casting, with a richly layered history and elegant gameplay mechanics.
God I don't know how the devs were able to keep some of these things secret for this long. It is really a phenomenal game. Can't wait to start playing this on my 1080p projector next Thursday night! I have 3-day weekend and I'm sure it is going to fly by.

I know some people wanted a different kind of combat animations with more extreme hit detection, etc., and they have been complaining about it.
We already knew this was not the case since the first gameplay footage all the way back in January.
However, all the animations and character models are still greatly improved from Oblivion and the combat looked like a hell of lot of fun to me.
People need to keep in mind what a massive game this is, there have to be some tradeoffs somewhere. Hyper realistic hit detection is a lot less important to me than the level of engagement with the main quest, NPCs and factions, etc.

Some people I think just don't understand the limits of technology at present.

True enough Naughty. If Skyrim were and Arcade fighter then its the reverse. But its an RPG and those feature should be a corner stone.

I suppose they understand, but they want Bethesda to be the first to break those limits and give them the perfect game with everything they want: spears, crossbows, furries.

(Hopefully the Steam version unlocks at 9pm PST on November 10)
I wouldn't hope for that, Steam usually has a strict and uniform time table for unlocks. I hope there is a pre-load though, when I does finally unlock I want to be ready to roll.
Preload has been confirmed.
Unlock time of 12:01am EST confirmed by Pete Hines on Oct 28.
RAGE (Bethesda's last game), unlocked on Steam at 12:01am EST (Oct 4) / 9:01pm PST (Oct 3), so it seems within reason that Skyrim could unlock at the same time as RAGE.
The only reason why I'm not sure is that Pete subsequently issued a separate tweet on Oct 29 indicating Skyrim would be unlocking at 12:01am in every individual time zone.
I have never seen Valve allow for dozens of different unlock times for any other game, so it seems most likely that they will follow the pattern of RAGE and Pete's tweet dated Oct 28, in other words 12:01am EST / 9:01pm PST.
On the other hand, perhaps Valve never did that simply because no publisher had asked them before. Maybe they want to make a big deal out of 11-11-11 worldwide or something.
So there is still a possibility of dozens of different unlock times, but worst case scenario for me would be 12:01am PST and best case scenario would be 9:01pm PST.
November 10, 9:01pm PST (aka November 11 @ 12:01am EST) has now been confirmed by Pete Hines

No way, these spoilers were too big, trust me. I wish I hadn't seen them.
Let's just say the story is a lot more engaging than Oblivion and Morrowind.

LOL I think I know which one you are talking about. The guy who made a thread on the Bethesda forum with like 10 nestled spoiler tags?

Yep. Damn my curiosity. I knew I shouldn't read it, I knew I would get annoyed, but I read it anyway. It's like drugs. Delicious, dragon-shaped drugs.
