I'm probably going to stare at the mountains for a good 5 minutes. When I got Oblivion, I remember my jaw literally dropping when I saw the Ayleid ruin, the rolling green hills, and the snowy mountains in the background. I just stood there for a few minutes taking everything in, admiring the landscape. I know I will spend even more time doing this in Skyrim.

I don't plan anything.  I like to say I'll RP and do stuff my character does but first time through I never can follow through.
Way too many things to pass up just cause my character might not do it.
I'll probably follow the road a bit and then just soak in the awesomeness.

I'm considering a Dunmer or Khajit dual dagger stealth character.

I suspect frost damage daggers (slows down enemies) combined with the Elemental Fury shout (makes weapons attack faster) would be quite lethal.

Now I do have a question for which I was wondering about with the ES games. In them you start out in prison and in Skyrim we are set to be executed. Now why were we in prison in the first place? This is one thing for which is not ever explained in the game?

Look for a shop to sell the loot I stole in the tutorial.

That's up to the player's imagination.

E.g) My khajiit will be in gaol for the possesion of skooma and moon sugar, and the trafficking of skooma and moon sugar.
My orc? I dunno barbariany things. Rape, pillaging, arson and all that.

Whatever reason you can imagine.  :-)  Prostitution!  Piracy!  Murder!  Moon Sugar Dealer!  Wrong place, wrong time!  Being too handsome!  Writing scrolls in all caps!  The guards did not like the cut of your jib!

Well I guess that there works I was just curious as to whether or not there was a specific reason. "Moon sugar?!" whats up with that?

ROTFLMAO! Now speaking of mudcrabs I remember that I was in one cave in Oblivion can't remember which one as there are so many of them and I killed this granddaddy of a mudcrab. The thing was huge.

My save timers tells me how long :P

LOL yes, of course, I didn't mean to imply otherwise.

I guess in my case when I play TES RPGs I usually don't have any feeling of urgency about finishing the main quest. In fact, I've been putting it off because it will feel like that's the end of the game.

In the case of Skyrim, the main quest seems a lot more compelling, however, and with more branching path options.

Oh nah that was at someone else, the saves I mean.

And nah I get what you mean, every so often I'll ****** around or what not, but normally I do that as part of unsaved time, I mean because in oblivion there was just so little interaction, and most of what you did ended with

STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!, or with ghost running out of the crypts after me and half the town dying trying to fist punch them to death. So you couldn't leave those as saves really.Maybe Skyrim I'll have some reason to "RP: but never know.

Finally finshed up my character concept and backstory. Kinda long, so tl;dr warning.

Ra'Nishi - Khajiit, Male, Psijic Magister.
Strengths - Alteration, Illusion, Speech, Light Armor, Archery.
Weaknesses - Heavy Armor, Two-Handed, Sneak, Lockpick, Pickpocket.

Born in a well-to-do Khajiit merchant family in the Imperial Province, Ra'Nishi grew up being able to read the intentions of others. He used his finely tuned intuitive skills to read the ebbs and flows of life and society to the benefit of his family's business. He could always tell when a business partner was trying to double cross the family, he just knew when the prices of certain goods would rise and fall and he used his knowledge to manipulate situations to his family's favour. This elevated him in the eyes of his parents and he soon become the heir apparent to the family business at the tender age of 14.

It was not until his 16th nameday that he realised that his talents were magical in nature. Ra'Nishi had been dealing with an Orcish business partner and had wanted to upset the Orc to throw him off balance for contract negotiations. The Orc was off balance alright, he hefted a mighty axe over his shoulder and swing forcefully, wounding Ra'Nishi and nearly killing Ra'Nishi's mother. Then suddenly, he became confused as if he had no idea why he had nearly killed the two Khajiit. He had shown no aptitude for typical magical abilities - destruction, summoning and the like, but nonetheless, Ra'Nishi knew. He did it somehow, with magic. He was a Mage.

Once opened to the depths of his own potential by the local Mage's Guild, he immediately became dismayed to learn that he'd cause more accidents, possibly killing his entire family unless he had learned to control it, to master it. Teaching, the Mage's Guild argued, they would be happy to provide.

Ra'Nishi reasoned that although he had to leave his family for the time being, he could return, once he had proven himself worthy of his power and worthy enough to use it wisely. He could go back, once he had carried upon himself a great burden, a great goal - and achieved it knowing that he never lost control.

Unfortunately, he became further dismayed at the lack of organisation and purpose of the Mage's Guild in the Imperial Province. There was no greater goal for him there. They floundered about, milling over the mundane and irrelevant. He actually heard them discuss the issue of mudcrabs as a point of serious study!

Desperate to find an outlet and purpose for himself, Ra'Nishi immersed himself in the libraries of the Arcane University until he found... it. The Old Ways. He demanded to find every book, every page and every reference of the "Old Ways" in order to learn about them. They were so intriguing to him. So right.

Within the week, he left the Imperial Province behind and travelled to the Isle of Arteum, in Summerset, to join the practitioners of the Old Ways, the Psijic Order.

What exactly happened to Ra'Nishi there on the Isle of Arteum isn't known, few ever hear of the Psijic Order, much less know what happens there. What is known is that Ra'Nishi was accepted into their ranks, and became a Psijic Magister.

So, four years after his joining, he was sent back.

But not to Cyrodiil, to Skyrim, the land of the Nords. Learning humility and seeing first hand the dark side of the human soul he needed to see, he was sent there as a prisoner. Amongst the thieves, murderers, rapists and overthrown warlords, in order to understand what his fight was about. To understand his goal. To understand the Order's goal.

In Mundus, conflict and disparity are what bring change, and change is the most sacred of the Eleven Forces. Change is the force without focus or origin. It is the duty of the disciplined Psijic ["Enlightened One"] to dilute change where it brings greed, gluttony, sloth, ignorance, prejudice, cruelty . . . and to encourage change where it brings excellence, beauty, happiness, and enlightenment. As such, the faithful counsel has but one master: His mind. If the man the Psijic counsels acts wickedly and brings oegnithr ["bad change"] and will otherwise not be counselled, it is the Psijic's duty to counterbalance the oegnithr by any means necessary.

Because only then, when he has accompished that goal, could he feel worthy enough to return home.

Just hope the mechanics and character system are meaningful enough and the gameplay open enough so that I don't go trying to LARP this character.
