For destruction it seems you can really get a lot of benefit out of focusing on one kind of elemental damage.
With the right perk combo, you can duel wield frost-throwers that paralyze and stagger!

Sounds like it would be deadly with the Ice Spikes spell equipped to both hands.

So yeah... I'm still fretting about the character I want to make and, well... how do assassin / rogue-type characters deal with dragons, exactly?
That question might be better asked after we've fought actual dragons.
But in all seriousness, with an assassin you do have marksman style combat available. And if you really wanted to, you could mix up some destruction magic in there as well.

My voice in speech, like Saruman the White (Many Colors), will be smooth and powerful and terribly beautiful. It'll highlight and supplement my Dragon Shouts nicely.
I hope focusing in an elemental power is encouraged. In IV, my female Battlemage Bosmer gave a focus to electricity. Gammameggon is going to focus on fire in Destruction.
My Skills:
Argonian
-Destruction
-Restoration
-Alteration
-Conjuration
-Illusion
-Enchanting
-Speechcraft
-Lockpicking

Have they released the different racial bonuses/powers yet?
Someone named Sammuthegreat wrote down a lot of the racial powers when he played the game at Eurogamer expo.
It was something like:
Nord: 50% resist frost, Battle Cry daily power
Argonian: Breathe underwater, Histkin health regeneration daily power
Dunmer: 50% resist fire, Ancestors' Wrath daily power
Imperial: find more coins when looting, Voice of the Emperor daily power (charm spell)
Breton: 50% resist shock, Dragonskin daily power (absorb magicka)
Khajiit: Nighteye, Claw Attacks
Bosmer: 50% resist poison, command animals daily power
Redguard: Adrenaline rush daily power
Orc: Berserker daily power
Altmer: regenerate magicka
Everyone starts with 10 in each skill except each race has some racial bonuses of +10 or +15

This beauty here with some nice robes and Alteration's "30% chance of absorbing magicka" will make my Breton very happy.

The first image thats on the video player? If you actually play it she sounds like she is either DB or Theives Guild.
Mine shall be...
Nord
1 handed(swords)
Light armor
Sneak
Lockpicking
Destruction(flames)
Maybe block too but I haven't decided yet.
I've a few questions that I haven't seen answers to yet:
If we don't take enchanting will there be npc's that can do the enchanting for us? Possibly even companions? I've not heard mention about them having perks or if we can use any perks they have or even if they level up at all.

Ah yes, character creation... I'll probably spend so much time just writing down and preplanning everything I want to do with my character, then probably a few hours making my character's face, then restarting and doing my character's face over again because there's something about it I don't like... then doing that again... and again...
...LOL. Gotta love these types of games. Looking forward to playing it next week.
I do that! D: It takes a while for me to get used to a character I make XD.

Anyone know if it's possible to wipe out the population of an entire village?
Nope, if it has children you can't kill everyone.
