To pass the time lets grab our pitchforks and torches and round up those odd and weird people who will not be buying this game. Herd them together and poke them with sticks.

Ken are you sure it isn't selling all that well? Last I heard there were alread over a million pre-orders and from what I understand that was just for the pc and didn't include the consoles or the steam downloads. Allot better than that of DA2 IIRC.

You're right about Veterans day and even though I'm a veteran I've still got to work that  sucks.

Gunslinger you going to be able to pull off the sick bit with your mom? after all don't she have to write you a note for school or do they do that any more?

Pre-orders are outselling most new games I'd say that qualifies as selling well.

I couldn't agree with you more. I stopped into my local Gamestop where I pre-oredered and paid for mine at and with the pre-orders of the game they are up to 1900 copies. Not sure what the full break down of  pc to console but you have to admit that is allot of copies for one store. That is why the Manage decided to go ahead with the midnight release as allot of us are regulars in there and he's not looking forward to a bunch of very upset customes.<LOL>

Skyrim is the first time I got an email from Game telling me they would be charging me earlier as well

"Thank you for preordering Elder Scrolls: Skyrim from GAME.co.uk

Due to the epic size of Skyrim we have a lot to do to make sure it gets to you  in time for launch day. As a result, we will be processing your order and charging your payment card a little earlier than usual."

I actually cancelled that pre-order to go pick it up in store.  No way am I waiting on the postman!! :P

Will have to admit thats the first time for which I've heard of gamestop charging you for a game before it's released. My Gamestop didn't do this but I've paid  for it in full already. Wanted to make sure that I had it paid for and nothing came up to where I didn't have the money to pick it up.Image IPB

TheGunslinger you hope that they won't.<G>

Do Nords make good battlemages? I might consider playing as a female Nord on my first run, if I decide to not play as an Argonian.

Skyrim is currently ranked  #3 in Pre-order sales, with a total of more than  1.5 million pre-orders  for all 3 platforms.  Only Call of Duty modern warfare 3 is beating it.

I'd say   that constitutes  selling well.   I can't imagine it selling better.   I've never heard of an RPG selling that many pre-orders.

Note that total from Oct 29 does not include the vast majority of PC sales, which are digital. It is likely that the preorders will reach well over 2million before Friday.

Fallout New Vegas had 880k pre-orders and it went on to sell 5.7 million copies worldwide. (and still selling more with re-promotes for the ultimate edition)

Naturally **** like this gets Started @_@

By saying its not selling that well means

I highly doubt Millions of kids will be taking off from school, Yes it has Very high preorders and will undoubtablly sell well, but its no Call of Duty, where you'll have litterally 10's of millions of sells and likely people getting out of work etc.

So yes it is selling well for an RPG, however RPGs, the only part of the gaming pie they ever beat is RTS, and Puzzle games. Well minus Tertis. But its not a economic killer/wonder where tens of millions of people will just vanish to the TV, plus if a game is more important than your work or schooling its time to question your priorities. Syrim will be great I'm sure, but its still another game. And no I have never skipped any sort of event just to play a game.

As to Veterns Day, that was a two fold remark that on one hand some kids won't have school on that day as its a holiday, or they may be taked out to honor a fallen member of the family or a returning War Vetern. A More meaningful purpose than to play some game.

As to the other meaning its funny how much people are going "OH GAWD ITS SKYRIM!!!!!" Yet State side at least forget the day is also to remember the Fallen, and those who survived and served, and some who are doing one or the other right now. But thats typical American Consumerism.  Though reguardless of Skyrim its unlikely the bulk of the Parasites would have noticed anyways.

I am not American. So really not that inclined to debate your holidays. However Skyrim is pretty much selling very well regarding pre-orders and seemingly only taking second place to one game maybe two. The saying it is not selling well or implying it ~is wrong and that is why so many people are contradicting and replying to yourself.

Missing the point.

Its not a point of it selling well so much as a point you won't see a god damn mass exodus from society over it. Some of you on here are talking like it will be a break from life and society, Guess what even if it sells 5 million plus beating COD, your not that important, the world will go on without you.

As to "Holidays" It was to prove a point people care more about instant gratification than any meaningful or important issues. an Asteriod could be about to hit the Earth on the 15th and some people would STILL go

M<Y GAWD SKYRIM =D

EDIT

Not that I hate the game or wish to see it do poorly, so much as I am wishing people would calm the **** down over it. Because come the 12th you'll have some people so built up over it who will be raging as it didn't meet the title of "Best Game Ever" and no one needs that.

Not to mention the fact @ about 1.5 million pre-orders not counting the amount of digital sales for which there probably are as we have no way of knowing about them; unless naughty or someone knows of a way to find out that amounts to a nice chunk of change for them. Now not sure of the difference in price between the console and the pc games or of other countries for various platforms. But if you go by an aproximate average of $60.00 us per game thats around 90 million dollars U.S. Not bad at all for a pre-release RPG. And remember this isn't counting the digital downloads either. So were probably talking more close to over 100 million.
