All I know is, I can't wait for Skyrim. It is good in ways Mass Effect 3 is being pushed to 2012 I am alittle disappointed on that. It does though give me time to play Skyrim and some others. :) I can't wait for Skyrim and Mass Effect 3!!

One thing I'm wondering about is that when you are in a conversation with someone can you be attacked? Like part of a quest or something?

I wonder that too. Since we don't have the world pause around us anymore sort of like in Oblivion where the guys in Kvatch would tell you about their day and the situation while the daedra patiently stood still for you.

I just learned about this tonight. In Skyrim, I don't think conversations will be in zoomed in view, and I learned that time and the game world will continue to move when in a conversation. Since dragons will be able to attack you even it you are in a city, you could be in a conversation with somebody about a side quest or whatever...a dragon could spot you while flying from above and attack you mid conversation!!!

I've been thinking about this a bit I'm wondering if Skyrim will have a respawn system for NPC's and PC's. Given that well unless the AI has changed if you ever lead Monsters (monstrons wtf crap I'm tired) on purpose or mistake into a town even if its ghosts litterally EVERYONE will rush to fight it, most of whom die, which then screws up side quests etc. Having Dragons attacking you as they please might porve...problamatic. And Beth. games tend to already have enough issues minus that.

Bethesda created a whole system called Radiant Story, so we won't have to worry about it. The game will be calculating how we are playing, and will continuously make adjustments and changes to our decisions. But NPC's won't be respawning...new people will take their place, but if someone dies they are dead.

Let's say a certain person in a town...a dark elf...has a side quest, but I kill him/her. That side quest will be assigned to another NPC...if it is a store owner...it will go to a family member...who will also know you killed their relative and react accordingly. Also, in some quests where scripted events happen...it will analyze NPCs you like or dislike and add them in a particular role if it is appropriate.

Another example of how this works is if your quest leads into a dungeon, but the dungeon it was assigned to was already explored. It will assign another dungeon nearby to keep things fresh.

Dragon encounters are going to be totally random though. Dragons are programmed like any other creature...they roam freely through Skyrim like any other creature and if they spot you, they're going to attack. They know you're a Dragonborn. You could be walking around a mountain and see one perched on the entrance to a dungeon or cave...or you could be out in the open on a glacier and have little place to hide. We are going to gain abilities and new dragon shouts by slaying and taking the souls of these dragons, but I hear they are going to be hard and running/hiding/sneaking is sometimes a better option depending on what you brought along in your inventory or left at your house

There is a gameplay trailer. Go to YouTube and look up Skyrim gameplay trailer. It isn't E3 gameplay footage, but it shows gameplay, different scenery, enemies, new effects and gameplay mechanics.

Not sure 100%...Howard said they're paying close attention to such a scenario. New people will respawn to take their place, im guessing. There are independent economies, so I doubt you'd fund any resources at all in the region for a while. Even if you sabotaged a wood mill, for instance....you wouldn't find many arrows or none at all for a while. Even bigger consequences if you mess with an iron or steel mill, I'm guessing. All of the npcs have jobs they do, so it could mess up a lot. It'd be neat to see. I'm curious what making weapons at the millwright will be like...how they'll implement it, along with how they're implementing letting us cook, chop wood and farm fields

Obsidian had the right idea with a Hardcore mode in New Vegas where you had to eat, drink and sleep. Hope that comes back into Skyrim, especially since they are going into this level of detail over minor options.

True.

Skyrim wants to put itself smack dab on the map as THE roleplaying game to turn to when it comes to a reactive and living world, what with it's radiant story, level of detail, etc etc.

It needs to have a hardcore mode similar to what Obsidian added in New Vegas.

That it does. Except without the game-breaking bugs and glitches. It made Hardcore mode damn near impossible to play!

Really? Aside from the CTD every couple of hours and the weird Radscorpion problems, I'm fine with New Vegas. On my 4th character now, got a slightly stalled AAR about it.

But I'm used to buggy games. Basically the only RPGs I've yet to completely bug out on have been Origins and KotOR. Every other game has.

So I've built up a natural immunity. Lol.

Hey, i've noticed somethng odd. Why are JRPGs so polished, while WRPGs are almost always in need of 50 patches?

Mystery of life.

Could be anything from a cultural issue, to game design (wRPGs tend to have more c&c and be less linear), to the technology (badly coded and optimised engines) to simply having more time and focus spent on testing/QA.

Hmm thats pretty neat in a manner...I will become a warlord and take over a town now << >> By Warlord I mean Hero of the land. But I'm wondering if say...if there is some way to artifically to make production jump, thus lowering prices. Though honestly with this and other features being mentioned I think either some of it will be cut back on. Or Skyrim will be either the best, or the buggiest game the world has ever seen. The Bethseda team counts on modders to fix too many problems with its work.

As to Hardcore mod from NV being on this. Sure as long as its ONLY Hardcore mod. I would hate that crap at lower levels. I play RPGS for the adventure and story. Not as a "My life Simulator". As to JRPG's VS WRPG's. I suspect culture is a large part of it, and the work ethic. Most Western Game devs its rare more so today for some games they have to NOT need a patch, the reverse from Japan. If you see a patch it means huge DLC is coming. Something can be said about a culture where suicide is still a suitable option for failure. Least they get **** done.

My only problem with Hardcore mode was that food and water was too plentiful and you only needed to sleep about once per week.

I installed a couple of very small mods such as Harder Hardcore Rates and Expensive Wasteland (5x prices), which really improved the experience. It got to where I was hobbling around the Mojave for most of the game with all my limbs crippled, suffering from reduced stats due to severe dehydration, hunger and sleep deprivation. In fact, I died of dehydration a few times. I recently downloaded Arwen's Realism Tweaks, looking forward to installing that.

I could never go back to a "non-hardcore" mode for FNV, and I installed some hunger, thirst and sleep mods for Oblivion that were a huge impact on the game for me. Now, when wandering through the forest for a while, I have a reason to be happy to find an inn, or to find a deer I can hunt for its meat, etc.

Without these kind of mods, all the food and drink items seem kind of pointless. In FO3, food and drink items were just useless junk that weighs you down, especially when you can load up on magically weightless stimpaks to make you practically invincible. (It was a smart move to make stimpaks heal over time in FNV.)

Yes, I agree naughty99.

I use XFO-NV Edition myself, but it essentially does the same thing in that it makes the game more of an RPG and it makes the game harder. Smarter AI (they run behind objects and heal if they can, they also flank), higher reliance on stats and skills, crippling limbs makes a huge difference, sleep, water & food derivation all happen quicker with harsher effects, removes the [Empty] tags you get with containers, whole bunch of other things too.

Night and day difference when you've actually played them.

I was so happy (lol) to get absolutely schooled by a group of 3-4 Jackal Gang Members on Medium difficulty. My Guns skill was too low and my aim was shoddy, even with Iron Sights. Once I realised I had no chance, I started to run away. What did they do?

Cripple my legs!

Then they spread out and all aim at my chest.

Went from "no problems man..." to "oh crap, better get out" to "WTF!! SO SLOW CAN'T MOVE" to death in a matter of like 15-30 seconds.

Effing A.

Wow so let me get this right...you guys like that **** in your games?

Having went four ****ing days in real life with no food and ONE bottle of water and passing out because of a lack of sleep on the final day I can say, take your asses outside when you have no choice but to keep moving and have no food in summer heat with it being 100f+, THEN see if you want that **** on your game. Hell I know whats its like to be broken by the elements. As to crippled limbs and purposely moving still. Full of ****, you won't be limping no damn place and if you DID find the supplies in such an event, if you want to ask and barter, you deserve to die in the desert.

Wait you say that Bethesda relies too much on modders and then next state you only want some ideas done only in mods? Highly Contradictive I must say.

Although Im reading between the lines im assuming you actually mean you want "Hardcore mode" as a difficulty setting.

Nah I said if they want that then add it in (the devs) but ONLY to that setting. I don't want it on my play levels. And if I want to be contradictive I damn well will.

Yes there is...the equivalent will be The Dark Brotherhood.

They have been confirmed in Skyrim in an interview with Todd.
