Usually I would go for the former, but the spell animations and sounds are so meaty this time around, that it's making the decision really hard.

I have pre-loaded the game a
while ago. A few minutes ago Steam updated it with another 2.8MB. I
wonder if this is a patch?

I loved the old jedi knight games. Wish they would make a modern one.
This.
I can't say I can think of many companies offhand who I would trust to replicate the joy that was DF:JK and JK2 though. There must be some, surely.
I heard rumblings a while back that LA are planning on another Republic Commando game, if that proves to be the case then any hope that they would bring the JK series back (what with the popularity of cinematic FPS style games at the moment) seems futile. Alas.
On topic: Whilst my copy was dispatched yesterday it is looking extremely unlikely that I will have my new PC in time to play it on Friday. Which is lame but gives me some extra time to finish up some other games before Skyrim takes over at least.
How do people prefer experiencing the game first time around? As a fearless warrior charging into new areas, or as a careful (slightly paranoid) sneaky type who takes extra time creeping through unexplored locales? It could go either way for Mages.

The Skyrim manual doesn't explain the leveling mechanics very well. It just says you need to increase a random combination of skills a number of times. Strangely enough it mentions if you increase skills that are already high, you'll level up faster... if ANY skill increase counts towards leveling, leveling up could go lightning quick.
Also, for those that will play with a lowly fighter character, active shield bash is in.
...Yeah, no good LucasArts and/or Star Wars games (*wistfully remembers when the two weren't synonymous*) since 2003. (2005 if you count KotOR2 for what it is in part and could have been in total.) (And scarcely any bad ones either.) Every time I think about it I want to cry.Brockololly wrote...
HELL YES.
I still remember that console command- g_saberrealisticcombat. Thats one thing thats always bothered me in Star Wars games- you have a damn lightsaber. Its going to chop stuff up! The Jedi Knight games were so much fun. Its a shame LucasArts hasn't made a decent game in ages.

Pretty much the same for me, except she will most liekly be female and instead of alchemy and illusion she will use destruction and illusion.Mystic dream wrote...
In my case it's either a dunmer assassin who dual wields short daggers/short swords and has a knack for alchemy and illusion, or a breton conjurer that specializes in frost spells.

Do you think the average BW fan will enjoy Skyrim? I'm a bit worried that the lack of structure (i.e. open world) may frustrate me and become tedious. As they say, it may be overwhelming. For better or worse, BW games definitely have structure.

I swear, if Battlefield 3 was rated solely by multiplayer, it would get tons of perfect reviews. And of course, Daggerfall FTWcsfteeeer wrote...

ROLFLMAO
Anyway, *Ejem*, two things:
1) FINALLY! i beated Battlefield 3's horrendous Campaign(somebody needs to tell DICE to not make SPs anymore), and Now i can jump into Skyrim like i Want to.
YES!.
2)i don't know if anybody has at this point, but i thought i'd drop this here:
mygaming.co.za/news/features/10143-The-Elder-Scrolls-retrospective.html
It's a Retrospective of TES, from Arena(the one who started it all), through Morrowind(Largely Considered the Best in The Series), all the way to Oblivion.
It's an interesting Retrospective, it's not very long(for those who don't really want to read.... i dunno, 50 pages of....things), and for those who are relatively(or completely) new to the series, this can be a good read if you wanna know more about the Origins of this Series.
Why did i put this here?
I Don't know, i just thought it would be interesting.

Also random fact. Apparently npc's can do all the finishing moves as well.
